Do most of the intersections in Lafayette have red light cameras? Maybe who ever took her ran a red light !!!!

I wondered why the heck she was riding down the middle of the lane on St. Landry. Maybe, she was about to work her way across to get the left side anticipating the left turn on Calder.

I don't know how Mickey usually biked in Lafayette but as an experienced cyclist I "take the lane" when I'm riding in my city.

Unrelatedly, I'm confused as to why people are so baffled that she might have been going down to Johnston Street. As I (and several others) have posted, google maps recommends it as a route for cyclists going from Ryan St. to her home. http://goo.gl/maps/1xda

Additionally, BW mentioned it as one of the streets she may have taken: "Shunick’s usual bike route from the Ryan Street home to her home on Governor Miro included St. Mary, St. Landry, Johnston, Congress Streets and Cajundome Boulavard."

Though I have to admit that quote is pretty confusing when I look at a map and I think is more likely possible routes than "usual bike route."

there are no cams at the funeral home.
I'm not questioning you, but how do we know this? I swear someone reported that they knew without a doubt there were cameras there.

I am so confused. Is this a pic of the truck/bike with Mickey's bike in the back that LE didn't release but someone somehow got access to? :waitasec:

No, that is Lauren Spierer's bike. Unrelated as per LE.

Erase it from your mind. Do over. Doesn't count!

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Police have identified the operators and occupants of both the older model 4-door car and the white 4-door pickup truck with the bed cover, which were captured on surveillance video.

the UPDATED picture of the INITIAL truck (the one at the intersection moving away from Mickey), was the picture of the truck shown on University (tail end view, visible bed cover.)

The two additional pictures are of the Z71 traveling in the same direction and mickey, and the hoopty car.

I've read this over and over and still do not see where they have ruled the truck in the opposite direction out. It just appears to me that they added the newer picture afterwards. (Which is very confusing.) Am I missing something?
I think it's totally confusing and I've read it a hundred times. Conventional Wisdom in these parts is that this statement:
The first truck (Picture1) drove from the area that Mickey had traveled. It is evident from the new photo that the vehicle has a bed cover and tinted windows.
means that it is a new photo of the initial photo they released.

No, LPD Chief Craft gave no indication where the cypher was observed on a bicycle from "inside a structure" between 1:30AM and 3:30AM.

It is possible that MS would zig-zag from St. Landry through the side streets to Johnston to see if her friends were still at Mel's Diner. She had apparently travelled via Johnston to get to Artmosphere earlier that night.

I'm still wondering about that text she supposedly received before she left BW's house...

She would have texted them to see if they were there. She wouldn't have just swung by. That's something MY generation might have done, because we didn't have the cell-phones.

Paris, where did you see that? In google earth?

this truck is a very close match, very close... at first glance i see no discrepancy to the truck in question...

regarding my phone call... i called the tip line an got a machine, then called the deep voiced PI on the case...

i am not going to assume he meant "we have that tip" or "we know she was hit"... i will say i have a directness about the way i speak to people that gets me answers... his responses were... slow and reluctant... unhappy.

as to the pics... i do way more than look at them... but its hard to explain, but i do throw them into "photoshop" as well... that is where i made the gif (poorly)... as it is not my preferred software...

if i know what i am looking for, i can find it... otherwise i am just like everyone else, blow it up, what do i see, shrink it down, what do i see... i have been over these pics before looking at different details... i originally "assumed" based on stance that the truck was accelerating to give it its current stance, but that certainly goes against the brake lights... white paint on the bike was key... i now knew what i was looking for... and unfortunately found it... when i showed my wife (who doesn't understand why i care) the gif... she looked at the kitties that haven't been fed, and a sink full of dishes and rolled her eyes... when i showed her what i had on my other screens... she cried... handed me her phone and said call them...

i try to separate myself from what we know, and look at what we have, or don't have... does it make sense to me that somebody could get hit in front of a busy place and have it go unnoticed..? unfortunately, in this all about me world we live in.... yes it does... that is exactly the place it would go unnoticed, right in front of everyone... there was more that i left out of my description in the pics because my hands were shaking, and i had no idea how to animate two simple frames in photoshop and i just wanted to present what i had found. i am not a sleuther or a detective... i am a simple graffix guy who doesn't even spell his own screen name right... actually wololo ;) but everybody always mispronounces it as wodalo...

there are often answers right under peoples noses they don't see... then when i point them out, they are discredited as someone "else" would have obviously noticed that... or that's crazy... this is my life story... i notice what everyone around me does not, it has become... easy to me. this is where i thought i could help out here as i don't even know these people... and have never followed this type of case before... i heard "no trace" and jumped in to prove that wrong... there is always something like minded folk miss because anything that goes against their current frame of mind is immediately dismissed.

sorry for the wall of text... people took the time to hear me out, no matter how far fetched, just wanted to take the time to say a little about who this nobody was that was rattling the cage....

peace

I'm a Luddite newbie w/little knowledge, can't even do an avatar..I have only one comment. If I remember correctly, a poster made a comment, last week? That the people at the Circle K (including running white t-shirt guy) appeared Mexican/Latino/Hispanic. I was heartened to see the picture of Mickey at La Morenita today. As a vieja of Spanish/Hispanic descent, I wondered, as difficult as cross-cultural interactions can be harsh. Has the LE considered blowing up that pic & taking it to La Morenita or La Tienda or a Latino church? They/we, along w/ wait-staff, etc tend to be 'invisible.' if you're respectful & treat them with dignity, just maybe they saw something, even if they weren't sure? Is it worth a try?

A lot of Cajun people appear to be of Spanish descent.

OT:
OMGod you must be a local if you have cracklins as an avatar! now will you please kindly tell everyone who is not local just EXACTLY what a cracklin is and where you get them and how you make them. Just for some local humor.

FYI. I should have made my avatar name HOT DING A WALLA BOO. anyone heard that one? For you non locals, it is what seriously cajun folk say when they do not want to curse in front of little ones by saying HOT D*** (defaming our savior).

I was once in a C-section in the middle of the night (assisting OBGYN) in OHIO when the surgeon said "HOT D*** that was a great surgery" in the Operating Room! I looked at him and said " Hot Dingawallaboo" and he looked at me and said "I have not heard that in a while".

You know you are cajun when.....

I grew up in Lafayette on the side of town close to where Mickey lived. My best friend lived in Saint Streets area very close to the intersection in question. In middle school and high school, I often rode my bike from my house to his. So I would have been taking routes very similar to Mickey. I would NEVER take Johnston. It would be much longer. There are more traffic lights. The road surface was often rough. There are bike lanes in places, but I never felt safe riding down Johnston. Also my understanding is that Mickey rode on sidewalks when she could.
