If a local perp dropped the bike that early, it likely was as a distraction, and maybe she's closer to home.

If the perp was on the way to Baton Rouge or NOLA, then it was done in transit, and maybe it was not intended to be found, and was, anyway. But I ask.... why take the time to do this, in transit, when you've got a kidnapped woman in your car? You're increasing your risk just by driving down there - especially if a cop happens to cruise by to check the area and you've got her in your car. I don't think Mickey was with the perps when they dropped the bike.

So either they kept her in Lafayette and took the bike out there to draw attention away from Lafayette, or they took her to NOLA or Baton Rouge and wanted to distract. There are lots of places around those places to dump a bikes w/o drawing predators, etc. By picking WB, it was a known serial-killer dumping spot, and the perp probably knew the search would be intense there.

It gave the perp some time to do what he wanted to do, while LE was distracted.

This all makes me discount a panicked departure from Lafayette, and stopping to dump the bike. It would make more sense, since having Mickey is already a bust, to take the bike with you.

I don't see the bike being put there in a panic. it was planned.

I still think local perp(s)... but have no sense of where they may have taken her :(

The perp(s) easily could have taken her to some type of hunting/fishing camp. I would think a hunting camp would be less noticeable at this time of year because nothing is in season right now. There would be no other hunters around. That idea is easily picked apart by noting many fishing camps are secluded.
If the DWTIQ was involved, maybe the LE could look into how many of those people own or whose family own fishing or hunting camps. Just a thought, I know I'm working off nothing here. Not that we know if the truck was involved, but with the lack of other leads, why not look into it?

I tend to be very friendly with anyone whether guys or girls. I had a male friend who I got very close to. I thought it was obvious there was nothing between us cuz we never kissed or anything but apparently it wasn't so obvious to him. When I started seeing someone for real he got very angry and weird. Come to find out he had told a few people we were seeing each other. Maybe mickey had other guy friends like BW and one just didn't understand and flipped out.

Yeah, it happens. Several years ago, I was good friends with a truck driver who I managed. He would hang out sometimes with a female logistics director of the company whose freight we hauled. One night, another woman he knew got into his truck at a truck stop about a half hour from where we worked. Within a minute, the logistics director parked her car behind his truck (no trailer) and angrily confronted him while he stayed in his truck. She was yelling at him, "Come on out of that truck p---ybaby! Come on out of that truck p---ybaby!" He called his brother on his cell phone, and his brother called the police who showed up within minutes.

He was very surprised that she viewed him as a boyfriend. He never saw an incident like that coming.

I know very little about Mickey Shunick and I certainly don't know or really care about her sexuality, but a lot of Websleuths posters have speculated she's a lesbian. What if some homophobe(s) riding around that night came to the same conclusion as these Websleuths about Mickey? A hate crime wouldn't be entirely unprecedented.

I think it's most likely she was hit by a vehicle operator impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.

However, we know so little about her abduction. We don't know if the motive was to cover up a drunken accident or if it was sexually motivated, racially motivated, commercially motivated, motivated out of revenge or jealousy, or some other reason entirely. We don't know if it was premediated or sudden. One theory is as valid as the next and all theories are merely speculation at this point.

I thought this has had a uneasy jealous female vibe to it from the beginning, it's like something is right there obvious and we are missing it :(

I must have missed a few threads. I don't remember much if any conjecture regarding MS's sexuality.

I'm sure it's been talked about so forgive me in advance but my opinion is that IF it was a drunk driver wouldn't there would be noticeable tire tracks somewhere from the truck/ car braking? Imo if a person would panic and take someone they hit they'd probably panic after the hit and slam on the brakes as well.

This is under the assumption that the roads she probably took have been checked of course.

I think when hate crime was mentioned, it was more intended as a racial hate crime, not that she was a lesbian. Lots of white people being jumped and beaten by groups of thugged out black dudes around here in the recent months. Random acts of violence that have been growing in number.

Actually, no. I was thinking in reference to sexual orientation. But since nobody has posted openly on that subject, I didn't want to if it would start trouble. It's personal info and not sure if the subject is open for discussion.

A mod told me to size them at 800, and so I just followed directions.
I'm not understanding this. When I view my post with pictures, the text on my screen goes waay beyond the right end of the picture - I'm talking I have 1/3 of a screen blank space remaining.

I will do future pictures at 680 to try your suggestion, but I'm not going to resize all my photos a second time. With my old system I'm using, it's very, very labor intensive, I've already done it once, and my hands are in a bad way.

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that the number of pixels directly affects picture quality, and the ability to zoom in, being that the file being posted is now small. Since resizing my photos I have had only one blown-marging report, instead of several; when I was posting them at 1100... so it did make some difference it seems.

They are working fine for me. Hate to see you resize them all if it's just one person.

What if her family's statement that Mickey didn't have boyfriends and insistence that she didn't spend the night at other people's houses didn't mean she was a lesbian, but that she was a virgin. It wouldn't be unheard of for a sick person to target someone they thought was a virgin.

And here is the accompanying article:

After seeing the pictures of the truck, Tasha Patterson believes it is the same truck that approached her two months ago. She says she was riding her bike down South College around 2 pm.

She was heading back from an appointment when a man in a white truck pulled over and asked if she needed a ride. Patterson says she was exhausted and not thinking clearly, so she got in the car. Shortly after, he dropped her off at the Walgreens on the corner of Johnston and South College.

Patterson says throughout the car ride, the man offered her money in return for sex. She refused and he dropped her off without any trouble. Patterson described the truck as a white GMC Sierra 2500 Texas Edition. Patterson says while in the car he told her something she found disturbing.

"He says he rides around town all the time trying to pick up pretty girls."

In Patterson's incident, she described the man as white, heavyset, and in his 50's or 60's. Now, of course, these incidents may not be related, but Patterson hopes sharing her story can shed some light on what might have happened to Mickey.

It's possible. And since the housing bust, there are thousands of empty foreclosures where criminals can "camp."

If it hasn't been said, folks with photo problems should probably try a different web browser. Different browser software will handle the photos differently.

Safari, Firefox, Opera, etc.

You could be right, too. She could have met up with someone at the other place her friends went to. Maybe when she came out the bike was gone and someone offered her a ride. Or the bike could have been stolen and after the thief read about her missing, they dumped it.

I must have missed a few threads. I don't remember much if any conjecture regarding MS's sexuality.

Someone, I think it was BW, said out loud that Mickey doesn't have boyfriends. That remark got me thinking. Then it got me thinking if in any way, if true, that factor was causing trouble in her life (not due to her but because of others).

What would be the purpose of the PI on the MS case to make public that he has two people who could be involved in her disappearance? Why would he not release a sketch?

http://www.katc.com/news/private-investigator-says-new-developments-in-mickey-shunick-disappearance/

I'm not sure what the laws are regarding something like this when it is a PI, but a regular citizen releasing a "sketch" of someone and accusing them of a crime could be grounds for a civil suit.

I am more of the belief that that Mickey was killed by a lone sexual predator, probably white based on statistics, than a group of black thugs relocated to Lafayette after Katrina, who decided to go out and murder a white woman.

Yes, and she may be both and there are even sicker people who might target her for those reasons.

Nobody get defensive. Just trying to uncover the truth to see if it sheds light on anything.

Some women don't need a man in their lives, and don't mind being single. It doesn't mean she is a lesbian.
