If the mom, and step-dad were high on mushrooms and driving that's just insanity. They allowed their own kid to be tripping? Criminal.

Why anybody tripping on mushrooms would go pick up another teen. Friend of their son?

There's hundreds of strains of them shrooms, and no doubt giving conditions down South you can go picking?

Did this 15 year old do the mushrooms, and had a seriously bad trip and they dumped him? Death is unlikely, but can happen. Paranoia, time lapse, anxiety. On and on. If you don't know what you're doing.

All just thinking on a keypad. No idea. However it s*c*s all the way around if true that grown people are tripping with kids. Now a child is dead after being missing.

I had a feeling from the start this was something drug related. Either he over dosed at the friends place and they moved him, or, in a drug induced state he has wandered off and has died where he was found. He could have passed out in the creek, or been trying to get there to drink. Moo

How long had Bobby been attending West St. Mary HS in Baldwin?
He lived with his mother prior to the two weeks with his father?
Bobby previously went to Southside HS in Youngsville where his mother lived - is that correct?
Bobby was on a curfew from which school?

He didn’t have any friends?

Then what “wrong crowd” was he hanging out with?

Confusing.
It sounds like the courts imposed the curphew for "disciplinary problems at school." Where I live the only kids who have a court ordered curfew are on probation. I don't know how it works there.

I'm not sure we know exactly when he moved, other than recently. It says he was recently allowed to stay with his father. It's not clear if it was for visitation or if it was going to be permanent.

Maybe because he was having problems with other kids when he lived with his mom they decided he should live with his dad? I wonder why he wasn't allowed to stay with him before.

Maybe "recently" means he had been there for only two weeks? Do we know for sure that he switched schools?

Maybe when they said he had "no friends" they meant he didn't have any new friends where he moved?

I wish we knew more about the "wrong crowd" of friends he hung out with before he moved. Were they involved with drugs? According to the teenager who spoke to the mom, he apparently witnessed the friend's parents tripping on mushrooms.

IMO

Quawan’s family said they learned through a third party that a 17-year-old friend and his mother, Gavin and Janet Irvin, had picked up Quawan around 3 p.m. the day he went missing, while his father was at a store. Kenneth Jacko, Quawan’s father, said neither he nor Quawan’s mother knew the Irvins, who are White, and had did not given them permission to take Quawan.

Jacko said Iberia Parish officers accompanied Quawan’s family to the Irvins’ home on Nov. 3 — four days after Quawan disappeared. Gavin confirmed the story, Jacko said, explaining that the boys wanted to spend time together but that Quawan later left, alone.

“[Gavin] said Quawan got up and said he was leaving. [Gavin] asked about where Quawan was going, and after that he disappeared,” Jacko said. Officers searched the Irvins’ home but did not find anything, Jacko said.

Later that day, police discovered Quawan’s in a nearby field. The family has not heard from the Irvins since, Haley said.

The Post’s attempts to reach the Irvins by phone and at their home in a Loreauville trailer park on Wednesday were unsuccessful. A relative of the trailer park’s owner said the Irvins recently had been evicted, but he didn’t say why.

Unfortunately, social media and organizations fighting for justice have amped up the pressure on LE. News sources showed videos of a large group of protesters marching in the mobile home park where the alleged individuals being blamed for killing Bobby. The individuals moved out of their home.
That's terrible. What if they had nothing to do with it? How can these protesters possibly know what happened?

Mayor Phil Prejean says Chief Harry Smith has a long history of disappearing from his office and his duties for months at a time.

“I’m being conservative, probably nine months now I have not physically laid eyes on him much less had a conversation with him,” Mayor Prejean said.

He says it’s been a problem for years.

“It’s quite evident. It’s not like it’s something you have to look for to find out what’s going on. It’s just a matter of watching the door. He’s not there,” he added.
...
“Things are just building up. In this last incident where the missing child ended up being found in Iberia Parish, it just brought it up to where it’s bubbling over now, and something has to be done,” the mayor told News 10.

He says he doesn’t have the authority to fire Chief Smith. The only way to remove him from office would be if the chief resigned himself.

“Something has to be done. We can’t continue to go this way. The town deserves better, and the town’s paying for it to be quite frank with you,” Mayor Prejean said.

He says although Chief Smith isn’t fulfilling his duties, he’s still paid his full salary as well as $500 in state subsidies every month.

“You’re withdrawing a salary and not providing any service. I think that’s something that’s wrong. You’re on a full salary from the public, and you’re not providing anything in return,” he said.

“I don’t know why he wants to be chief of police,” he said. “It’s kind of an either/or. You either do your job or you get out the way. I think the town deserves that.”

News 10 reached out to Chief Smith Thursday but has not heard back. We also went to the police department, however, he was not there. bbm

Not questioning you @imstilla.grandma, but media. Earlier on they said Bobby got his beloved dog from these people. Purchased if I recall and his dad knew them.

There's so much information and disinformation and division that it is difficult to keep track. Again, a 15 year old boy is in his grave. Praying they find the truth to how this child wound up dead.

I’m glad you brought that up coz I was thinking the same dang thing. Intuition, curiosity and pertinent articles lead me to believe mom and dad might not have been the best of buddies. I’m gonna go back and review dad’s statements in a minute. Something seems off.

Holy smokes if googled there's an article from April 2019 about this.

Chief Harry Smith, Jr. explained why when folks call 911 no police are dispatched. Not enough police. According to Smith. Heck I think it said about four. It lends to what we may expect if "defunding the police" becomes a reality.

RIP Bobby.

Getting Answers: Operations at the Baldwin Police Department

“Chief Smith said Baldwin has one officer patrolling during the day and one patrolling at night. The department’s dispatcher only works until 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.”

Little town, big problems: Budget crunch forces Baldwin police to patrol on foot
From 2016.....
“Last week, all five patrol cars sat parked at the Baldwin police station, each with half a tank of gas or less.

The gas cards are maxed out and local service stations have reached their limit extending credit to the police department, Police Chief Harry Smith Jr. said.

So, when officers patrol they do so on foot.”

I haven't heard of any organized groups in that area. You do have drugs young punks, poverty, juvenile delinquency, truancy, and lack of supervision. A few years ago, I worked with a program designed to offer skill-building and tools to assist the kids and their parents. I know that the 16th JDC currently offers some of the services.
IMO, Bobby may have been involved in one of these programs. The students referred to the program need to have either school or community infraction(s) that warranted a referral.

I lived in a small community that had 1 fulltime officer and 2 part-time officers. The standard procedure is that we had a 911 department for the parish and they would dispatch the local officers on and as well as the sheriff’s department. Many of the rural communities receive little funding since the majority of the folks live in unincorporated areas.

Some articles say he was found on the 2nd, and some say the 3rd. According to the sheriffs statement the body was found on November 3rd.
So maybe they notified the father on the day he was found and the mother on the following day?

And yes, if that's true it doesn't make sense that the father would not have called the mother that day. I guess it could also be inaccurate reporting.

Well, this article definitely seems to have some important details but I'm not able to read it.

It says that Quawan left later, alone. Did they say which day? Was it the same day they picked him up? If he left on the 30th then where was he for the next 3 days? Were the friends together Halloween night?

Jacko said Gavin asked Quawan where he was going and after that he disappeared. Did he ever give them an answer? Didn't they offer him a ride since he was about 20 miles from his home? Did he have a cellphone?

Why has the family seemingly disappeared? Very strange. Still so many unanswered questions. The Sheriff's Department may need to ask for help from the FBI in this case.

Well, I guess it's a good thing they are not the Department investigating Quawan's death. I wonder if Breaux, the spokesman for the Iberia Parish Sheriff's office, Bureau of investigation, is the police chief? Does anybody know?

It looks like the population in Loreauville is 887. It shouldn't be too hard to catch a criminal.

Unless, of course, the criminals have packed up and left town.
