At least 10 people dead and 30 left injured after an SUV allegedly plowed into crowds celebrating New Year on a popular party street in New Orleans.

The driver reportedly rammed into a group at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Iberville around 3.15am local time.

 
Ten people were killed and 30 injured after a vehicle drove into a crowd on New Orleans’ Canal and Bourbon Street on Wednesday, according to NOLA Ready, the city’s emergency preparedness agency.

The strike appeared to be intentional, police said (to) ABC News, adding the driver had not been taken into custody.

What does that mean? “ not been taken into custody”? Did he escape and they can’t find him or is he among the dead?

It’s scary how often cars are used as a weapon. Recently in Germany during Christmas market and now again on NYE.

Witnesses told CBS News reporter Kati Weis that a truck crashed into a crowd on Bourbon Street at high speed, and then the driver got out and started firing a weapon, with police returning fire.

 
Multiple witnesses told CBS News that the driver jumped out of the vehicle and immediately started shooting after plowing into the large crowd.

Police fired back at the suspect, the outlet reported, citing witness accounts.
