At first I wondered of it was car keys but then decided or was not that. Imo it was oddly shaped. Maybe paper?
If swat is outside and asks you to exit the home(i assume this is what happened) what do you grab to take with you?
It looked like something silver to me, definitely dropped on/in his hoodie.

The rifle wasn't even purchased it was stolen. So...
From NJ too. I wonder if he personally stole it, or more likely, bought off the dark web? I know a lot of the Silk Road style platforms have been taken down over the years but I’m sure more pop up. MOO

Stolen weapons get trafficked all over, turn up the other side of the country. Sure, he could have got it off the dark web, but I think it's just as likely he bought it from someone shady in his hometown in Texas.

MOO

Two Ochsner Health hospitals received people who were injured in the New Orleans attack on Thursday. The health system — which bills itselfas “the leading nonprofit health provider in the Gulf South” — is asking the public to consider donating blood to support people impacted by the incident.

“Our hearts go out to all those affected by the tragic event in the French Quarter during the early morning hours of Jan. 1. To support those impacted, please consider donating blood,” the health system said in a statement.

Ochsner Blood Bank is holding blood drives to address the critical blood supply shortage. All its blood bank collection locations are taking donations and will be open on January 2. Appointments can be made here.

The suspect in New Orleans attack made a series of video recordings before Wednesday morning that law enforcement is currently reviewing, according to multiple officials briefed on the investigation.

The recordings appear to have been made while driving at night. The suspect is not visible because it is dark, but authorities believe the recordings were made as he drove from Texas to Louisiana, although the exact timing is not yet clear.

In the recordings the suspect makes reference to his divorce and how he had at first planned to gather his family for a “celebration” with the intention of killing them, two officials who had been briefed on the material in the recordings said. The suspect also talked about how he changed his plans and said that he joined ISIS. He referenced several dreams that he had about why he should be joining ISIS

<modsnip: "Officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the driver in the Cybertruck but have insisted that there is no evidence the two incidents are linked.">

I don't see him dropping anything into his hoodie. What it looks like to me is that LE is having him hold up the hoodie part (probably so they can see in it from afar) to show he doesn't have anything hidden there. I think the white/silver part is something on the hoodie, like maybe a contrasting trim or some kind of patch on the hoodie itself. That area looks stiffer than the rest of the hoodie. All imo.

*Trump hotel Tesla Cybertruck explosion probed as possible terror act as vehicle was rented with same app as truck from New Orleans massacre

Looks like he would have had quite a few hours to make his recordings while driving, assuming he left from his home/the area that is currently be searched in Houston.

Super Lucky:

NEW VIDEO: Group of people barely survives New Orleans terror attack

He was flying!!
In the 2nd video of the man with his hand up, what is he holding in his hand? He appears to drop it behind him or into a hoodie.

I'm glad someone else noticed, thought it was just me
I enlarged it. I thought it was something like a knife but it looks to be either the collar of his shirt or the hoodie, showing them he didn't have anything in it. I would pass out if I had them facing me!

Why go from TX to Bourbon Street?
This was a very specific location..

From your post: how he had at first planned

Am I understanding that he states he planned to gather his family (Plan #1)
but
instead decided to drive across state lines for hours and mass murder strangers. (Plan #2)

There is a recent case where someone has a Plan 1 (bomb) but it would kill too many so he justified to himself a Plan 2 (execute a CEO)

I am just flabbergasted, looking at the pictures my fellow WSers have posted of the various barricades allegedly in place here.

They ALL seem totally inadequate to stop a truck racing down the street.

That aluminum looking one with the vertical posts is used here and probably in many cities just for crowd control. It’s to keep us out of the path of a parade, etc.

If someone wanted to, they could climb right over that or push it forward. Just leaning against it is enough to move it a few inches.

Why oh why were there not effective means initiated to prevent vehicular terrorism? Bourbon St. is a party street in a party town—-it’s going to be swarmed on New Year’s.

I blame the terrorist, of course. But I’m really stunned at what IMO was a very paltry and deficient use of barricades.

Here in Times Square, as I believe most people know, the NYPD blocks off a frozen zone on NYE. Sanitation trucks, bulldozers, and other sturdy vehicles are parked perpendicular to the streets. Plus since 9/11 the crowds are funneled through metal detectors.

It is draining for everyone but is so much more effective when it comes to a driver determined to inflict mass casualties.

JMO and experience.

Around two hours after Jabbar plowed through the portion of Bourbon Street, first responders were called to a home in the 1300 block of Mandeville Street, about 2 miles away. Firefighters, police and bomb squad technicians were summoned to the address and reported a “small fire.” The scene remained cordoned off late Wednesday afternoon while investigators continued work in and around the house.

Attorney General Liz Murrill told WDSU-TV that the house fire is connected to the terror attack. “It tells us, one, they planned this out, two, they tried to cover this up,” Murrill said.

Murrill said surveillance video shows an explosive device being placed between a Louisiana State Police vehicle and a state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries unit. Both law enforcement agencies have supplemented local police patrols in New Orleans for the past several months

Following all day. Absolutely heartsick over this. 15 innocent people dead, and some 30 + injured, many of those likely with lifelong effects from injury.

Who is this guy with his hands up in the Houston location. Do we know yet how he might be involved? Did he come out of the monster's home? We know that the initial 4 suspects have been cleared, and the notion that this guy was alone, but what about this person the Swat team apprehended?

omg, just now received a loud alert on my phone. I jumped out of my chair. (amber alert)
