Talk about being radicalized on line, is bs, tou would have to look for it. Jmo i am on line and have never seen anything of that. Jmo
It happens insidiously. Someone starts watching a video on YouTube about how the West hates Islam or another person starts listening to a podcast about how men are the victims of feminism. Someone else starts following someone on Twitter who says white people are targets of Jews or Black people. The algorithms then feed the person more similar content and it slowly becomes more and more extreme content. They go down "the rabbit hole." They start "doing their own research" and they get all kinds of ANSWERS and reasons for why their life is so crappy. Now they are mad because they realize they are victims and now someone has to pay--whether it's women or liberals or insurance execs or Jews or "The West."

“This is not a terrorist event,” emphasized Alethea Duncan, assistant special agent in charge at the NOLA office.

Now the FBI has admitted what was obvious to everyone, including the killer’s brother — who said Jabbar had been radicalized.

She needs to be investigated for saying this not knowing what was going at that early time. These are the ppl that are detrimental to the agency that gives the public trust.

The most recent version of Leverage has an episode which has a great breakdown of how this works, which culminates with one of the main characters saying " ....and that's how Grandma learns about space lasers."

Algorithms, man.

"Prayer mats, an open Koran and a dart board:

Items ISIS-supporting New Orleans terrorist Shamsud Din-Jabbar
left behind in his squalid Houston home."

New Orleans ISIS terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar had a workbench in his bedroom that was set up for making bombs – while a Quran on his bookshelf nearby was left open to a passage about “slaying” in the name of Allah, exclusive photos obtained by The Post show.

Jabbar’s Texas home was filled with chemical residues and chemical bottles, while an investory of items seized by the FBI — left behind by investigators who raided his house on Wednesday — included a long list of compounds used in bomb-making.

His Quran was propped atop a bookshelf – where it stood as a centerpiece over his living room. It was open to a passage reading “they fight in Allah’s cause, and slay and are slain; a promise binding…”

A Quran open to a passage about martyrdom was found at the scene as well.

That passage – Verse 9:111 – expounds on Muslims’ responsibility to kill Allah’s enemies, and to be willing to die for that mission in return for eternity in paradise.

Ugh people taking pics / videos off the balcony now I know how we got the videos on X.
A man on CNN last night said he was on a balcony and as he was trained as a medic he tried to get to the street but LE wouldn't allow anyone out on the street. He was very upset because he could see grievously injured people and wanted to help. The decision was to preserve evidence.

Thank you so much for posting this article.
How many folks here know of the turmoil and frustration with the Veterans Administration.... I hope they speak up.
I personally know a number of people who have tried, been committed to hospital, partially endured, and died under the Veterans Administration blockage and obstructions to services....

I have seen folks end up in severe depression and addiction over it, and I have seen one person become a master machine to fight the system. Over the 25 years i have known this one individual...... he has been fighting the Veterans admin, with forms, papers, letters to governors, senators, reps. In 2023 he finally received a settlement payment on charges of non-service (agent orange). And he is still fighting two or three cases of non-service.. just became his life work.

All I am really saying......... this will be looked at as a minor part of the killer's path to radicalism... but it is not to be ignored.

Several years ago a veteran from Alaska flew to Florida. He checked his weapon but kept the bullets. When his luggage came down the carousel he went into the washroom and armed himself and ended up killing five or six people. He had repeatedly tried to get help for his spiraling mental health in Alaska and wasn't considered any kind of threat. My daughter was in that airport about an hour before his plane arrived. She was going on a cruise. The randomness of these events means any of us can become victims at any time.

I believe in the past they have been approved for recovery after disasters. I hope a Mod will let us know.
The “original” Cajun Navy started by a group of Cajun guys and some women who gathered their boats and airboats and set out to rescue Katrina hurricane victims in New Orleans. Since that time, splinter groups started? Some with many good intentions. A few of the groups have made the news due to issues. The original group was from mostly Acadiana and other Cajuns joined in to help.

CNN just aired a heartbreaking virtual interview with the parents of deceased victim, Matthew Tenedorio. It felt very intrusive to watch, so soon after Matthew’s death. His father is still visibly overcome with grief. They haven’t even seen their son’s body yet.

Special agent Alathea Duncan was seen with the facial piercing during a morning press conference following the terror attack in the French Quarter, which left 14 dead on Wednesday.

But by the next press conference, Duncan appeared without the nose jewelry, sparking comments on social media given that the FBI does not allow its agents to have facial piercings.

''KPRC 2 reporter Corley Peel spoke with a man who works on the property who said Jabbar handed over his keys and said he was moving to New Orleans on Monday, just two days before the terrorist attack in New Orleans that killed 15 people on New Years Day.

The worker described Jabbars’ demeanor as sad. He said Jabbar lived at the home alone, was nice and typically kept to himself. The only strange interaction he had was when Jabbar asked him where all of the security cameras were on the property and where they were pointed two days before he moved out.''

FBI investigators say they believe Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old from Texas, is responsible for the New Orleans attack that killed at least 14 people on New Year's Day. CBS News Confirmed executive editor Rhona Tarrant reports on the newest details. Plus, CBS News correspondent Jason Allen reports from the suspect's Houston neighborhood.

“Soon malfunctioned”??? Did they think to test a few to see if they worked??

The police found them to be “insufficient” What did they do with them?

Was the ball dropped on this?
lawsuits coming.

Add another to the growing list today...
....
The Payette Police Department responded to a call on Jan. 1, at roughly 6 a.m., about a suspicious person trying to light something on fire in the 600 block of North 8th Street, Chief of Police Gary Marshall said.
.....
A news release from Payette Police said officers arrived in the area and found fresh footprints in the snow. The tracks led to a train car, where police found an undetonated Improvised Explosive Device (I.E.D.).
