This is kind of creepy. I looked up the house on Google Maps. Looks like a nice, country home with a lot of land. Police have not released any motives, suspects, etc. as of this time.

For those wondering, yes, this is in the same parish that had eight unsolved killings of women in the mid and late 2000s. No one ever charged in those. This doesn't look to be related, but man, that's a lot of crime for a small area. There's a link in this story to the unsolved cases.

This is actually Laccasine and only 20 minutes from me. And it’s scary because it’s a small town.

from the link in post #1:

Walter Joseph Gotreaux, 72 and Darlene Cecelia Gotreaux, 70, were found dead Sunday afternoon when deputies went to their home for a welfare check, according to the sheriff's office....

Walter Gotreaux was the former president of the Lake Charles chapter of the Cajun French Music Association.

"It is with great sadness and shock to announce the passing of our Past President Walter Gotreaux and his wife Darlene Gotreaux.

Not releasing anything more yet... hmmm...

Sad for those who knew and loved these folks, especially at this time of year... or any time, sheesh!

I am a Luddite & don’t know how to link but a local station KATC is saying that their farmhand drove them to a Lake Charles church for a 2 a.m. adoration (of the Blessed Sacrament.) So how were they supposed to get home afterwards?

I hope this poor couple weren't victims of another home invasion.

How tragic this elderly couple wound up being murdered.

The elderly and young children are the most vulnerable in our society. Anyone who can do this has to have a heart cold as stone.

They should be protected and never harmed or murdered.

What a sad ending and with it happening close to Christmas makes it even sadder...if possible.

I hope they find out who did this and soon!

Imo

I think the farmhand would wait - they had probably signed up for adoration from 2am to 3am.

During perpetual adoration, a specific person performs adoration for a period of one hour or more, so there is always at least one person who performs adoration during each day and night.

Perpetual Adoration of The Blessed Sacrament.

Just coming to say the same thing.
This thread is for the elderly couple murdered in their home in Jeff Davis Parish this past weekend.
The Michael T Collins reference in the article written on October 31
is to the murder of another elderly couple at their business in Livingston Parish.

This is so deeply saddening and horrible.

Sounds like this wonderful couple were very much involved and loved in their small community.

My heart aches for their dear family and friends. Such a senseless and tremendous loss.

IMO I’m confused about the Lake Charles church adoration. Perhaps it’s just me but I wouldn’t do a 2am in Lake Charles when there’s a church in Laccasine, St John the Evangelist. Just thinking out loud.

The Gotreauxs’ were last seen on Sunday morning when their farmhand brought them home after church. We’re told he was the last person to see them alive. He drove them down there because Mr. Gotreaux wasn’t feeling well,” said ( Sheriff ) Woods. “At this time, he’s not a suspect.”

No arrests in Jeff Davis double homicide

St Johns is a small church and doesn’t appear to have opportunity for perpetual adoration.
