Well, it's better than the alternative.

The best news of all is "There is no evidence of a homicide" the worst news is we're still at square one with no one knowing where Gabriel is.
I sincerely hope that SAPD will now pursue this as an illegal adoption. They have from now until June 26th to find him or there is no doubt in my mind, that adoption will be consummated in a Texas court. Yes, it's illegal but who will be the wiser? Certainly not the judge, they rarely even look at the adoption paperwork and even if they do with an alias for EJ who would really know? I suggest SAPD and the Bexar DA move their butts on this and require all adoption paperwork to first go through the DA's office to be checked for any traces of Gabriel.

It is good news additionally as this was covered on national media HLN today, so hopefully this will generate some more national interest which I believe will bring in more tips and leads

Maybe NG will decide to give Gabriel some time again-- and maybe other missing persons shows will give Gabriel some attention

I'm going to merge this thread into the Landfill Search thread. I think. If I don't hose it up.

Landfill Search For Baby Gabriel Called Off
Baby Gabriel Last Seen In December In San Antonio
POSTED: 11:58 am MST March 12, 2010
UPDATED: 12:07 pm MST March 12, 2010

The San Antonio Police Department has called off the landfill search for missing baby Gabriel Johnson after finding nothing related to the case

http://www.kpho.com/news/22823582/detail.html

I heard McManus say they found no evidence of a homicide. I did not hear him say they found nothing related to the case (I'm thinking of trash from the hotel room).

Did I miss that?

Landfill Search Called Off For Baby Gabriel
No Signs Of Missing Baby
POSTED: Friday, March 12, 2010
UPDATED: 1:15 pm CST March 12, 2010

During a news conference Friday, San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus said after searching 16 days through 4,600 tons of debris at the Tessman Landfill, the search didn't yield any clues that could lead law enforcement authorities to Gabriel Johnson, who was last seen in late December in San Antonio with his mother, who is jailed in Arizona.

BBM. Again, I didn't hear that. What I heard is that they found no evidence of homicide. I didn't hear the Chief exclude the possibility of them having found other evidence.

Is it just me?

GIVE ME A RAW VIDEO OF THE PRESSER!!!

Thank you :-)

It would be great if they found adoption paperwork in the trash, with names. That gives me hope that they would proceed with a missing person's case and not a homicide. Paperwork and DNA/fingerprints...I hope they found something really good and are, as always, keeping it close to the vest.

BBM. That's closer to what I heard. Please, God, let them have found the hotel room trash and something in it that will lead them to Gabe!

I missed the presser but will watch for the video. I honestly didn't think they'd find Gabe and am thrilled they didn't!!! I am very eager to hear what exactly was said, however, because if he did say "Baby Gabe not found" or "no evidence of homicide", it leaves me very hopeful that they did find something. I PRAY they found a lead, but am still very pleased they found no evidence of harm being done to Gabe!!!

Missing person investigation will continue with vigor

Hi guys, I have never been on the other threads except for Caylee's and I wanted to come on here to tell you some news from SA. Of course, you already had it, W/S is faster than CNN!!! My sister and I were out and they said they had completed the search of the landfill, then the radio cut to commercial. My heart was at my feet. Thank God they came back on and said after a comprehensive search they are certain his little body was not there. Keep hope alive!!! Julia

P.S. I have taken many of my friends from SA over to Mexico to shop when they visit me, and I can tell you without hesitation it would have been extremely easy for any family to take him across the boarder. I have NEVER been stopped and asked for any travel documents , to produce an ID or had my vehicle searched, not once. It is possible that she gave the baby to someone and they scurried him away, in my opinion. I know all of you are working very hard and praying for this baby. God bless you...all of you.

Someone sent me the full audio of the press conference, including the questions and answers afterward that weren't aired on HLN. I'll get it uploaded and linked as soon as possible.

Nearly three months after baby Gabriel Johnson went missing, San Antonio police called off the landfill search for his remains after finding no evidence of foul play, Police Chief William McManus said Friday afternoon.

“The good news is, we have no homicide at this point,” McManus said at a news conference. “The bad news is the case remains open.”

Law enforcement authorities, with the help of countless volunteers, searched through 4,260 tons of trash and debris over 16 days at the Tessman Road Landfill.
