So this search relates to the TB murder? I'm going to assume there was a follow up search pertaining to LB?

They did a follow up search of the Smich home which found the red Roots bag. I'm going to guess that they would come back except that I don't know when the house sold. They may not have been able to go back. MOO

yeah, and the photos are carefully cataloged, with measurements, time etc. He's digging himself a hole if he thinks he is going to convince the jury these are staged.

Ottay seems to be a little annoyed at this line of questioning. #Millard calls him a SOCO officer. "I'm a forensics officer," he corrects.

Today the ponytail is much more prominent, and now longer than the rest of his hair. #Millard

Millard's hair significantly shorter than three weeks ago when this trial started. He's kept a small pony tail on the right side.

Do we really care what this egomaniac's hair looks like?

I don't recall any other descriptions of people's hair.

I can imagine the police are not impressed being questioned by him.

Right now, this is the search that happened in May with a warrant related to TB's murder. This is also why the witness is from Hamilton police. I'm sure we will learn more as we go. This is the same as last week's testimony regarding the May search of Smich's house.
I'm going to assume evidence seen or collected led them to the charges related to LB

House sold in July 2013. One would think that wherever she was killed there would be gun shot residue or blood splatter. They wouldn't have been looking for that sort of thing on this search.

Now #Millard brings us back to another room, and zooms into a frame with three small pictures inside it. Then points out white smartphone

It's all because of the Star Wars reference in his letters to CN

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter and we don't care however the reporters are trying to paint a picture for us. They have talked about the Babcock's, Smich's mother and Smich. They have described witnesses. It's part of the picture.

Ottay believes he's heard the term "artifact," possibly in his training "12 years ago," he reminds #Millard.

TB was still missing at the time of this search. I'd guess that they may have been looking for evidence of blood certainly. They may have found something different than the blood they were looking for.

Smich's lawyer Thomas Dungey has no questions. Officer Ottay is done on the stand.

So the red clamshell suitcase shows up in a picture taken by Ottay. OK...we still don't know the significance of that suitcase. I'm thinking DM is tipping his hand by bringing this up time and time again. Has the Crown said anything about a Red Clamshell suitcase?

Definition of an artifact in photography.

"An image artifact is any feature which appears in an image which is not present in the original imaged object. An image artifact is sometime the result of improper operation of the imager, and other times a consequence of natural processes or properties of the human body."

So where is he going with this? He asks that question in direct relation to the photo of the white phone. Who's phone is it?

Yup, he's trying to discredit this guy.

MOO
