We're now getting an explanation of various file types we'll see. SMS messages (texts), MMS messages (multimedia texts) chat or iMessages (coming from message services), JPEGs (picture files), PNGs (screen captures), MOVs (movie files), contacts, notes, and calendars.
by Adam Carter 10:24 AM

Millard is now looking at screen captures of messages from backups found on devices from his home on a laptop.

Mark #Smich is furiously typing at a computer during this Falconer explanation of modern communication methods. #Millard has hand in chin. Blowing air in and out of cheeks. Looks bored.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 22s22 seconds ago
Mark #Smich's mother hasn't returned to court since last Friday (when she decided to attack our camera with her purse).

Falconer is now explaining what each one of those file types is.

3 thoughts...1) Poor Justice Code, he's going to have to sort through a lot with all those tech files.
2) It disgusts me that Millard has the audacity to look bored...3) It's interesting that Smich is typing furiously, I am wondering what he is typing.

Probably another hit rap song..

Kudos to Lisa, I think she has upped her detail game with Adam Carter tweeting also!

He says there's photos and videos on there spanning a time period of about a decade.
by Adam Carter 10:35 AM

For reference of how long this presentation will be: we're on slide #33. There are over 300 slides. There's a ton of data and messages that will be shown in this courtroom today.

Forensic officer says two folders found on Dellen Millard's computer contains "tens of thousands" of files, mostly pix and videos, going back more than 10 years. About 600 are relevant, he says.

MS is texting his lawyer that he's scre*ed and wants to do a plea deal... JMO

I noticed that too. Finally we have a #LauraBabcock hash tag!! Maybe it will start trending.

We're now seeing a screen capture of folders from Millard's hard drive. There's dozens of them on the screen. There are folders marked Berlin, France, boatTrip, etc.
by Adam Carter 10:38 AM

There's also a folder on the screen marked "PedoandCats."

I read that tweet too and I'm wondering if that wasn't tweeted incorrectly. I thought it was DM who was on his computer. Can't see any reason why they'd allow MS to have a computer in the courtroom. A monitor to see visual displays but not a computer to type on? :waitasec:

People don't pay enough attention to their digital footprints IMO. I would never auto sync to a friends computer and they all did it. Lol I have had a phone go poof and I still would never back up my phone. I transfer photos to our at home server regularly, the rest isn't important enough. But these groups of people did the right thing by backing up their phones whether intentional or not! Helpful to LE

Court now seeing a photo of Millard and what appears to be Christina Noudga, while Falconer explains more about data collection.
by Adam Carter 10:47 AM

Falconer is now explaining how you can see GPS coordinates in the metadata of photos, to determine where they were taken, and when.

Forensic officer explaining metadata to jury at Millard/Smich murder trial. For photos and video, can find date, time, and detailed location/GPS data, including altitude.

The thumbnails of photos shown on a screen across the courtroom today are hard for me to make out. We should get copies of the exhibits after Falconer's testimony. He may be on the stand for a couple of days. #LauraBabcock

We're now seeing a chart comparing photos found from Windows storage folders with thumbnails and folders from an iPhone backup.
by Adam Carter 10:54 AM

The thumbnails are a little tough to make out. One is a large green tube device, looking like barrels stacked high.

Right now Falconer is comparing identical photos and messages sent and received from two sources examined by police. #LauraBabcock

Sounds like a bored kid in a waiting room, lol. And good on Lisa for calling out MS's mom's antics
I think it's unnecessary to call out the Mom IMO

It happened - she swung purse at the camera....temper, temper...

Falconer is still going through the intricacies of file names on photos.
by Adam Carter 10:58 AM

Now seeing some other small thumbnails on screen. One of them appears to be a gorilla.
by Adam Carter 11:00 AM

More technical data now -- Falconer is talking about comparing data found on the computers to data found in the specific backups on those computers.

To clarify, I meant the specific purse-hitting event. Otherwise, IMO she does not need to be dragged into things more than she has been. I can't imagine how stressful and painful this has been for her, but assaulting someone who is doing their job for a reputable news agency, to me, deserves a call-out.
