That played like a guy who watched TV playing lawyer. She lied to police... He proved that. Now what does that mean for him, what did she say he wants to show is a lie. Just don't see where he gained anything with those questions.

Wow.. Not sure the jury is going to find her a credible witness now. Moo

This is disappointing for the case - putting a few TPS officers on the stand won't make it better unfortunately.

A complete loss for LB, family, friends and the community expectations.

Millard has one more question for Marlena Meneses. Brings a gun back on screen. Silver barrel, wooden handle, revolver maybe? Not sure on gun terminology. #LauraBabcock

Meneses remembers going to the US with #Millard once. They got turned back as a big group once, then just Meneses and #Millard went. "The reason we went was to pick up ammunition for this gun." I don't remember that, Meneses says

Meneses doesn't remember that the gun did not come with ammunition. She did not carry the ammunition back across the border. "No. I. Didn't." Are you lying to us, Millard asks? No.

"I didn't bring back ammunition. You probably did." Millard suggests that's not true and she disagrees. They shopped at a mall. She doesn't remember buying ammunition. Millard says he always gets searched so he had to give the ammunition to Meneses. She says not.

Millard is now done. #Smich lawyer Dungey now up. They exchange pleasantries. #LauraBabcock

We are back - Millard says he forgot a question.

He's brought up the photo of the gun from earlier that he asked Meneses about.

He asks her about travelling to the United States, just the two of them.

Millard, "We went to pick up ammunition for this gun."

Meneses, "I don't remember that."

Millard, "I'm going to suggest you brought back the ammunition."

Meneses, "I don't remember," she repeats quite loudly.

Millard, "Can I suggest your memory has conveniently elapsed? Are you lying?"

Meneses, "I didn't bring back any ammunition. You probably did."

While I'm disappointed that MM has lied on the stand (her prior statements to LE were a given for lies imo) I can't believe how DM is implicating himself in the process.

From post #33 -r

Meneses didn't like it when Smich and Millard went to strip clubs, for example. She would tell #Smich it was because of #Millard. "I functioned as Mark's shield didn't I?" If that's what you want to call it. She agrees Millard was to blame if Smich did bad things.

I am missing where she lied on the stand. Are people meaning when she said she didn’t shoot the gun, then she acknowledged shooting it at the farm?

Is the crown not asserting that MM was there at the house the night LB was murdered? It's driving me crazy that no one is asking about it!

Dungey about to have lunch.......IMO

DM had quite a few guns, it seems.

Mark Smich's lawyer, Thomas Dungey, is up. He talks about her meeting Smich at Tim Hortons. "It was love at first sight, for both you?"

She agrees.

Dungey tells the court, Meneses was still in high school, she was having trouble at home and with some girls at school. She needed money. She had a poor relationship with her step father.

"You wanted to get out of the house, so you called Mark?"

Smich helped her move into his mother's place. Dungey says Mark had just returned home to live with his mother, she had cancer so he was helping her out.

Dungey tells the court Smich bought her food, clothes, and encouraged her to go back to school (she had dropped out, so had he). Dungey says Smich wanted Meneses to finish Grade 12, because he hadn't.

"You were infatuated with him?" Dungey asks. She agrees.

Dungey, "You didn't think Mr. Millard was a good influence on your relationship?"

Meneses, "Right."

When Meneses and #Smich first met, in high school in the Tim Horton's parking lot, it was love at first sight, she agrees. Her previous boyfriend was a cocaine addict and she had other problems, Dungey gets her to agree.

Meneses agrees that it was a misunderstanding with her stepdad that caused her to move out of her house and ask #Smich for help.

Meneses says she and #Smich also did cocaine throughout their relationship

Interesting that DM wanted MS to break up with MM and he also took a screen shot of his "break up" with Noudga and sent it to Smich.

She was infatuated with #Smich and they were “attached at the hip,” she agrees that caused fights. #Smich mother & Millard both suggested they spend less time together

Mark understood and "was not at all saying I think you should stay home," even though she was young. #Smich had just returned to his mother's house because she had cancer, Dungey says Meneses helped redo the basement too. #LauraBabcock

Night and day, Meneses and #Smich were together, she agrees. They stayed at #Millard's home on Riverside when he was on vacation. They did reno work for #Millard in exchange for the lodging.

Is DM dense? Why is he admitting all this gun stuff and buying ammunition? Just clueless.

"You were together like night and day?" Dungey says, repeating Smich and Meneses were inseparable.

"Yes," Meneses.

Dungey talks about the odd jobs Meneses did for Millard - cleaning washrooms, washing cars, painting, building shelves.

This is hardly a disaster.

MM's testimony in chief was basically useless anyway. She only said what the Crown had already proven.

So now we know that everyone who was involved with these guys is of disreputable character. I don't think that is anything new.

DM just wanted to show off and push MM around one last time. He succeeded at that, but in the process he also said a couple of things that hurt himself and MS.

DM to MM: "How do you spell the word hangar?"

Really, DM? He is such an ahole. JMO

Dear Matou,

Thank you for the great example of D.M. continuing to intimidate M.M.

D.M. may be enjoying his "show" right now but I truly believe he will hate the "ending".

There will be justice for Laura.
