Laura Babcock Murder Trial 11.23.17 - Day 21

During the first trial I believed MS did not plan or murder TB. I got a lot of slack for it from many being in his "camp" etc. even though I don't know him or his family etc.

I wanted to reevaluate after the crown presented this case to see if my thoughts were wrong. At this point I stand by my thoughts that MS did not kill or know of a plan to kill TB. IMO

Also IMO DM killed LB and tried to make it look like he was covering up MS mess EXACTLY like he did with TB. I now have no doubt DM tried to set him up. With the pics, videos and letters and trying to manipulate witnesses to testify to suit his story.

All MOO but it'll be interesting to see how this goes. I really don't feel M1 for MS at this point but then again I didn't feel that way for the TB trial either.

I don’t see how you can think that way for *both* murders though. If you use the “MS didn’t see it coming” line for the first murder he’s involved in covering up, that takes it away for TB, no? MS had already helped DM dispose of a body when he went on that test drive with a gun. He knew DM was willing to kill.

The DM to CN letters today are important to anyone on the jury who may have had lingering doubts about whether or not LB could still be alive. IMO, they will be now relieved of any such doubts.

I love how he is literally putting words in her mouth.
He writes very explicitly and with no confusion as to his intent -- penned this way so it is read and remembered this way for her to recall as a 1st person account.

I hope the jury sees that not just what, but how things are phrased, is paramount and highly telling.

I always assumed MM was there because Jul 3 around 3 PM he was supposedly going to take a bath with her. Then the next afternoon when DM was on his way back to Maple Gate he texted MS to ask if him or Marlena wantd anything from Booster Juice.

I came to this conclusion as well. IMO, MM was there the whole time...perhaps strung out? MOO

For me, I believe MS will not be a threat in 20+ years. As for DM, I am confident he will not see freedom in this life. MOO

I agree. If MS gets a walk here he would likely be released at some point before he dies.

His M1 conviction means that he is ineligible for 25 years, but after then it would be in the parole board's hands.

With 2 unrelated M1 convictions it is unlikely that he or DM will ever see the light of day.

It was so important to make sure the jury knew DM wrote those letters to CN before he was charged for LB's murder.

I've found the cross-exam by both parties to be rather lacking.
Not in the sense that either is negligent ... there's just very little to refute.

Again -- I'd think this in itself should be very telling to the jury.

I'm very curious to see what, if any, defense is presented.

Just realized this. DM doesn't say that MM, MS and Laura were doing coke. He says MS and Laura were doing coke. If he's setting up MS, he can't include MM in the story because SHE WASN'T THERE that night. If she'd been there, she could refute DM's story.

So the only people at Maple Gate that night were Laura, DM and MS.

This may further suggest that it was a "DM and MS" plan all along... MS and MM were joined at the hip. She would only not be around because MS had something nefarious planned with DM.

Correct me if I'm wrong folks! I know there are still text messages that suggest they were bathing together at Maplegate.

I find myself wondering if the details of those clippings will be shared.
I'm highly curious to know what exactly she was clipping and saving.

The letters DM sent -- her keeping them can somewhat be explained away by their twisted, somewhat unrequited love. He sent. She received. She kept.
But the clippings? Whatever they are, she did that intentionally and wholly of her own volition.

I know some won't agree, but I think she kept the letters to use against DM if turned on him. There were lovey dovey letters she could have kept if it was for sentimenal reasons, keeping these confession emails don't make much sense.

Agreed - because they are both the same. Either of them would most definitely sacrifice the other in order to save him/herself in the end. As she so eloquently wrote - they deserve one another.

14 newspaper clippings, two photos, 30 letters, an envelope and three torn pieces of paper also located in top drawer of bedside table. Also a contact card for a police officer. I hope they total how many letters in all were found.. seem to all be in top drawer of bedside table

If the Crown is presenting evidence about a gun in relation to LB and Marlena was there, why wasn’t she ever asked by the defense about a gun shot (or not hearing one)?

DM - unless he's dumb;

ETA - for the life of me the only defense witness in the TB trial I can recall is MS.....
