LE wants to interview the parents separately

LE doesn't answer questions, except to say that one day (the 8th I think) that they've stopped cooperating.

All I have to go on is what Jeremy and Deborah say, and LE doesn't contradict it, that they told Lisa she failed her LDT, Jeremy at that point asked to take a break after 17 HOURS of questioning, and they turned right around and said they've stopped cooperating. LE was later forced to recharacterize that statement, when it came out that yes, they were still cooperating and were answering questions by phone. Then LE said that was true, they wanted "unrestricted" access.

Which they had already, when they were considered to be "cooperating" obviously.

But surely some of the evidence has been processed from the things retrieved from the house. I think that warrants another meeting with the parents (with an attorney present), don't you?

Well maybe they are convinced their attorneys can find Lisa and the police are not needed for anything.

Honestly, rights are all well and good and it is a relief we have them, but I just don't understand how people even think of their own rights if their child is gone, maybe in danger, maybe deceased, maybe being kept by a pervert...only LE seems concerned about Lisa's rights as a person. JMO

Boy, that seems to be the truth.

I'd love to hear what locals think about all of the changing stories, changing times, drunk until she "blacked out," etc?

George S: If the police say we want to talk to the couple today, no questions off the table, your clients will say yes?

Joe T: Absolutely

I would be looked at as guilty then because there is no way that I would allow LE to interegate me yet again without my lawyer present. I can only look at this as how I would react and how I would feel. To me, it is as if LE is focusing so much on the parents (mom more so than dad) that they are neglecting to look at other options or possibilities. I would not allow them to badger me and accuse me of killing my child repeatedly for however many hours they wanted to instead of actually doing police work and looking for the person that took my child.

LE wants to talk to them again? Fine, but be prepared to have the lawyer present and ready to stop the interview at the first sign of trying to pin it on the parents.

MOO

They are dragging their feet, whining and complaining making sure it all takes a long as possible. They could have got this sorted out in the beginning but it was they who changed their stories and then decided not to answer questions the police thought they needed the answers to.

If they weren't stalling so hard then the police could be looking at other scenarios but the parents don't want to cooperate, one asks why when the best thing for Lisa would be for them to tell the police everything they know.

The police want to pin this on whoever did this, if it's the parents so be it, if not then they must comply and let LE do their job.

WOW! i think if my baby were missing, I'd be at that police station all day, everyday, answering every question they asked.....even if it had nothing to do with my baby missing. Just sayin...

ITA! The police would be sick of seeing my face around the station and begging me to take my butt home. I would be up their 🤬🤬**s 24/7.

:banghead:

hmmm so JI admit's he does have a "boiling point". I wondered about that.

Ranch, they have been questioned separately, extensively, with no attorney present and they didn't ask for one.

I think it's time now for LE to stop acting like they haven't, and admit what it is they want - to make another attempt to trick them into changing their stories.

they've already changed their stories more than once but they did it in the media because they refuse to help LE find Lisa. What do you think of a family that spews story after story to the national media but can't be bothered to work with local law enforcement? why do you think they refuse to help LE find their baby?

I agree that keeping it in the media is brilliant. Thank goodness, though, the media is reporting a reply from Joe T, that they don't want to ask questions, they want to play mind games.

I think if LE is going to be painting this as if all they really want is a chance to get to talk to the parents, it's good that it's made patently clear they've already done that and were yelling at Deborah that she was a murderer within the first hour.

I think the public understand that, and can empathize with their not wanting to go through that again, since it was fruitless and painful to begin with.

I also thought it was fair of LE to state that they are currently answering questions. So what I ask here is, why doesn't LE ask in that format? Pick up the phone, and ask. OR agree to abide by their civil rights and not request that they waive them. (You have the right to remain silent, you have the right to have a lawyer present at all questioning). That's all their asking for, is their rights. And LE is saying no actually we want you to leave your rights at the door.
LE doesn't want a lawyer present, is that it? Well, that is unconstitutional. No reason for anyone to waive their constitutional rights in this investigation.

If they were not asking questions, but merely saying we know you killed your baby, how long then would you sit there. Please measure this in days, as they did.

LE has hardly gone running to the media, that's what the parents have done and what their attys are doing. After all the lies the parents have put out it's good to know LE isn't fooled or cowed by bully attys more concerned with press appts than a missing baby.

BBM: I agree ...

LE has NOT gone "running to the media" ... BUT DB and JI, their PI and their 2 defense attorneys certainly have !

LE has been very professional in their handling of thise case ... they have kept a "lid on it" so they would NOT compromise the investigation ... and that is understandable ...

The parents have taken "their case" and "their defense" to the media !

MOO ...

I wonder if DB will provided Jeremy with a "cheat sheet" of answers when and if he does talk to LE. I'm sure she spoke up many times for both of them during the 11 hours of questioning. I've seen it during their interviews. I think Jeremy has a few things to say without her guiding him.

I'm not holding my breath honestly, the lawyer will come out with a reply since this news broke. (not the earlier one she put out before this request). I've seen people go in with their lawyers and not answer one single question and walk out.

There should be new evidence from neighbors & the search of the house that LE will just have to prove if they won't sit down with them. I'm backing LE can solve this case. Shame on a parent who won't try to help find their missing baby. jmo

Do you have evidence that the lawyer cannot be present?

1. LE doesnt have to answer questions nor give out any info..
2. I wouldnt go on anything that DB or JI say, they have lied this entire time and once again LE doesnt have to come out with their side. That is why they are LE.
3. This was not 17 hours straight, it was total. In 3 weeks time. Not near as much time as he should have talked.. I think it should have been 17 hours straight IMO.
4. LE should have unrestricted access to speak with the parents. I would give my all to find my child. Answering questions by phone and in person are 2 entirely different things. You cannot tell body language wise if you hit a nerve over the phone but you sure as heck can in person.

Bottom line, these parents are all over the media and no where near the police station. IMO, I would be all over the police station. AND be very grateful they were there to look for my child, I would be baking them damn cookies.

In response to your first quoted post: A person's refusal to continue with a hostile interrogation does not necessarily mean that person is guilty of anything. It could mean the person is tired, or that they've suddenly seen the light and realize they need an attorney to help balance the scales. Once an interview has evolved into a hostile interrogation, a person has the right to ask for an attorney, and it is really sad that so many see this as a sign of guilt.

In response to your second post: I really don't care WHO started the Innocence Project. I do care how many innocent people have been released from prison after decades, even released from death row. These are people who were INNOCENT of the crime they were convicted of. And they've lost years of their lives.

I am all for the prosecution of the guilty. But I am equally for the rights that allow USA citizens to defend themselves against unjust prosecution.

I'm all for finding missing children but when the parents refuse to talk to Le but can make tv appearances to talk about themselves I have to wonder why they won't cooperate.

yep-LE has said very very little on this case-they have been keeping everything very close to the vest!

http://www.fox4kc.com/news/wdaf-will-irwin-bradley-talk-to-police-again-20111023,0,355334.story

Koppelman asked Short if she could identify the conditions in which Bradley and Irwin would talk to police again."There's some detectives that really have a broken trust, and so it's going to be counter-productive to try to sit down with those detectives again," Short explained. "So it would be better to bring in some detectives who are fresh-eyed, fresh-eared, to listen to the parents. And the parents, I think, would feel more comfortable and less afraid."
Short says altogether her clients talked to police in informal and formal interviews for about 40 hours, which she says was debilitating and traumatizing.

Cuz that's really important. moo
