Now I really am wondering if the "flu" he had been battling for weeks was really him trying to wean himself off the pain meds. Withdrawal from opiates makes one a horrible mess. See below for a link for symptoms. People who don't realize they are physically dependent can actually think they have the flu. Maybe he had decided to go to rehab, so he decided to have one last night of relief, knowing what was to come. Maybe he had weaned himself down somewhat and went back to his old dose, which was now an overdose. Like Cory Monteith did. This is so, so sad. He probably had a valid reason for going on pain meds. But they are tricky.

Prince died amid frantic plans for drug addiction treatment

Dr. Howard Kornfeld, a national authority on opioid addiction treatment, was called by Prince representatives the night of April 20 because Prince “was dealing with a grave medical emergency,” said William Mauzy, a prominent Minneapolis attorney working with the Kornfeld family.

IDK - I am a little puzzled by "grave medical emergency" on Wed nite. Wouldn't someone be recommending, or calling a hospital, or 911 instead of a Dr. in CA? Could the Dr. in CA assess Med Emergency? And who was frantic? And why in a grave emergency was he left alone?

It especially sad considering two of the biggest rehabs are in Minnesota.
Agreed. It all sounds so mysterious.

If you look closely, the words "photo re-creation" is written on those photos. They are not photos of Prince - thank God.

Whew! I'm glad for your sharp eyes. I felt horrible after looking at his "final moments." Why strip away any shred of privacy and dignity? Horrible paper.

Thank-you Debbie, I was searching for the latest news on Prince and posted it. Yes, thank God that it is not Prince.

One last post for tonight..l the doctors son flew over state line with drugs that were not prescribed to him with the intent of giving them to either Prince or the other doctor.... Either way that is a felony...I believe they are going to dig deep ( thus the DEA)
I think they are going to dig to make sure that this doctor from California was involved with Prince obtaining all the prescription drugs it is alleged he was getting..
If charges are pressed and he is convicted , the doctors son can say good bye to med school....
You are so right Cubbeegirl!
Also, I am wondering why the attorney for the Kornfeld family held the press conference detailing the plans for Prince when Prince is covered by the HIPAA law.
Even though the Kornfeld's (Recovery Without Walls) was not bonded with Prince for services, they are still responsible for upholding the HIPAA law. Even though Prince did not hire Recovery Without Walls for treatment, any referral, consultation and more in a person's name is covered under the HIPAA law. The Representatives of Prince contacted Recovery Without Walls, not Prince. The Prince Representatives are not the legal executors of his estate.

Why is it that the dispatcher did not give CPR instructions!

Maybe because the caller stated the person was deceased. Prince had been dead long enough for rigor mortis to set in so CPR would not have been an option anyway.

I heard the 911 call and at the the all I could think is what kind of idiot was hanging around Prince in his last moments. Ok I get it, he was from California and did not know the physical address. He still came off as a buffoon.......I'm in Minneapolis, all he had to do is say Paisley Park and any 911 operator would not confuse it with another location. I do think this son is in a boat load of trouble and the attorney is trying to hide behind the 911 law.

When I read that interview the attorney for the addiction doctor gave to the newspaper, I knew something was up. The CA doctor hired a MN attorney who explained his version prior the ME report...red flag. After watching the video of the press conference (another bizarre thing), I was even more convinced...thank you cubbeegirl for posting this! There are so many holes in this story that it makes no sense.

The most disturbing is the statement about it being "a grave medical emergency". To me that means a persons health is deteriorating and is in distress and you call an ambulance, not wait two days for an "addiction" doctor to arrive from out of state or put your non-doctor son on an overnight flight to "go talk" to someone with a bag full of meds.

I don't know if the truth will ever be told on his death, as I get the feeling that some may be leading the media in a certain direction.

This whole thing is very, very sad.

Didn't the attorney say that the son visited Prince around 9 pm the night before, what if the son actually did give Prince meds that did indeed kill him....thinking out loud

Just wondering why would it take them 19 min to pronounce him dead if he was obviously dead?

I didn't recall that being said, I'm going to give it another listen today with fresh ears.
I had the television on last night . Can't remember who it was , but they were listing off a lot of charges both the son and the doctor could be facing.
The whole press conference thing is pretty bizarre .
It hurts my heart to think that he was that strung out and no one stepped up to do anything..It doesn't take a mental giant to see when a person gets to that stage of an addiction.
Hell, his appearance is a huge indication.

I wish this could be an opportunity to understand the difference between dependence and addiction. You can become dependent on a med even if you take it exactly as prescribed. Even certain anti-depressants cause withdrawal if they are stopped suddenly.

I don't get the sense Prince was abusing the opiates - just dependent on them and in larger and larger doses as his body developed a tolerance.

I agree. He was in a very slippery slope. He needed help, but because he was Prince, he had to be very careful about who he trusted. I just WISH he had someone that refused to leave him alone that night.
Hindsight 20/20 😢 poor guy. I feel so bad for him!!!
MOO
