Thank you for posting this article as there was some interesting info within. IMO there is a disconnect between acknowledging that one is "dependent" on pain meds and being "addicted" to pain meds. The brain becomes addicted to narcotics within a short time which is why doctors prescribe them with caution. IMO, Prince was both as so many of us are that have chronic pain whether we realize it or acknowledge it. I don't understand the whole CA connection when there are facilities and doctors much closer. Something doesn't sound right.

No, the attorney did not say that. Kornfeld (the son) had been picked up and taken to a hotel with the plan to meet Prince the next day.

I don't understand the CA connection either. Minnesota has world-class facilities, and Prince was a Minnesota guy.

Perhaps the CA facility was recommended by someone close to Prince? If so, who made the recommendation?

Does anyone have a handle on the CA facility's reputation? What made it appealing over places closer to home?

I sure wish he had driven to Hazelden.

I caught something yesterday but am working ( supposedly ) and cant go look for it now that set off my radar .
Something about the doctor had told
Prince that he could control his pain and still help with his addiction ?
Sounded like a load of bs to me but i remember thinking that would sound like heaven to an addict.
Perhaps it was thought that the addiction could be helped while still using the meds ?
Ill look for it tonight .

I dont understand how one can fly from california to minnesotta to save someone who is in grave medical emergency mode, then get a room and worry about it tomorrow .
I would think at 9pm he would have went straight to the emergency .

Son Kornfeld was on a flight from CA to MN at that time and arrived at the estate the next morning around 9:45 am. It was reported that Prince was with someone Wednesday evening (mystery - with who?)who dropped him off. I am thinking Prince never made it to his apartment that night having collapsed in the elevator shortly after he was dropped of. Coroner will be able to collaborate with mystery person if he was found wearing the same clothes he wore the night before. Just my speculation of course.

Taking more than presscribed is considered abusing .
I would say a small chance he may have been having some interaction . But right now with the plane landing incident and the fact that he is dead i have to think that barring an interaction of some sort he was abusing .
I know when i was on opiates after an accident there were times i took more than prescribed and that is abuse .
He didnt just o.d. On funk or he would have been gone long ago .
I have come to realize how many i cared for i have lost to addiction and i think thats why this has hit me so hard .
Please dont think i am condemning him or adore him any less cause i dont .
I just refuse to give any quarter on this issue . Thats enabling and thats how alot of people with addictions end up dead or in jail .

Prince never has been a homebody, NEVER he likes to be out and goes out to clubs all the time, not just a few but many down in the warehouse district.....anyways it would not surprise me in the least that Prince possibly went with his bodyguards/representatives to the airport. Even if he did not, Andrew could have easily given his people buprenorphine for Prince that evening/early am Something is definitely fishy. The CA connection was not because of privacy, heck Prince knew it would be disclosed, that the statement wait a few days before....

I wish this could be an opportunity to understand the difference between dependence and addiction. You can become dependent on a med even if you take it exactly as prescribed. Even certain anti-depressants cause withdrawal if they are stopped suddenly.

I don't get the sense Prince was abusing the opiates - just dependent on them and in larger and larger doses as his body developed a tolerance.

Agree. I don't understand how Prince could be so creative, productive and seemingly alert if he took large amounts of Percocet every day. I have a friend who suffers from chronic back pain. He takes 2 oxycontin every 6 hours and his cognitive ability, his memory, etc. really slows down. He literally turns into a couch potato.

Truth ... My ex will call in sick from work if he does not have 4 minimum percocettes to start his day and a few more for after lunch .
When he cant function is when he has none or significantly less .
So i see it .

A law enforcement source tells KSTP that Prince was brought to a Twin Cities hospital Wednesday and was seen by a doctor. He was then brought back to Paisley Park.

At 8 p.m., Prince was dropped off at his home in the Paisley Park compound in Chanhassen by a staff member. The Carver County Sheriff says this is the last time Prince was seen alive.

Prince missed an early morning holistic medicine appointment. He could not be reached, and staff went to check on him.
