Big deal. There are reasons why people misspell words. Some have learning disabilities, some aren't well educated, some didn't learn to spell certain words correctly, along with various other reasons.

The fact that they showed up at rallies shows they're interested in the election process and what the candidate had to say. These are people who go out on election day and vote, unlike the millions of people who didn't care about the election and stayed home. In other words, they're the smart people, despite misspelling words on their signs.

My neighbor voted from him, big Republican big Trump fan. Her son lives in a rural area of California and is working poor and he and his family are on Medi-Cal (Medicaid). When I told her that Medi-Cal for families was an extension of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, she refused to believe me, still doesn't believe me. Says Obamacare was for those not working.. Tried to tell her that prior to the ACA, only single parents and disabled got Medi-Cal. So how informed was she about what the election issues were?

That's why it's important to go to rallies, listen to what candidates have to say and ask questions, regardless of whether or not you have a sign with correctly spelled words.

I saw man on the street interviews being conducted and some people didn't even know who the candidates were. A larger percent didn't know who the vice-presidential candidates were.

When asked why they were there, some protesters didn't know but they saw on social media there was going to be a protest so they showed up.

Some people aren't as well informed about certain issues as others and some have misconceptions, but that doesn't mean they don't get to vote. If people had to take a test to see if they were informed enough to vote, the flunk rate would be astonishing and only a handful of people would be allowed to vote.

Madonna, Cher and Whoopie are not my role models. I made the mistake of opening a DM link where a costume of a giant vagina was being worn. Gag. The pussycat hats are cute. Julia Roberts probably made her own.

The pictures found there assaulted my good senses. I find nothing positive about this women's march except that now Madonna is being investigated. Was it held to protest Trump's earlier remarks? If so, that gives him a lot of power to be able to gather millions of peaceful protesters over the banter. This type reaction is as bad as, maybe worse than, the Trump verbiage.

Maybe the protest was over Planned Parenthood which has been shown to sell aborted fetuses.

I am not a member of a women's liberation movement although I am a certified political activist. Men, in general, have held women back. They are the ones who need to apologize to women.

Women did not have the right in American to vote until the19th Amendment was added to our Constitution in 1920. Many men still expect the wife to be pregnant and in the kitchen but that philosophy is changing. Does the millennial man prefer that his wife works and makes more money than he does? Surely some do for that provides for him to go his own way whether he wants to stay at home and leisurely study art or homeschool the children or to find himself.

Threatening Congress, in a one day event "that millions are watching them", is not going to be helpful. The fact that Presidential elections are won by the electoral vote should not surprise the educated public. Our power is in our vote, beginning at the local level.

My apologies to anyone who disagrees with my opinion for it is not my intention to debate but to shine a light on the opposite side of the same coin.

IMO a lot of the Trump supporters couldn't afford to take off work to go to the inauguration :peace:

I read an article where one Trump supporter from Ohio invited to the inauguration wasn't going to pay his rent so he could go. If I had the choice of rent or inauguration, even if it was a historical one like Obama's, I would have to be responsible and pay my rent. I was raised that there are wants and needs, and I would say housing is a need and delayed rent not fair to landlord, where an inauguration is a want.

so you are fine with him lying about that? im not a big fan of people that repeatedly blatantly lie.

Better then lying about the reason for the benghazi attacks ( a video) or obama care.( you can keep your dr).

I'm sure Obama supporters could go to his inauguration because they're all unemployed and lazy right? That's the common thing to say about them after all.

As I said in my post #82, women, men, and families marched for all kinds of reasons. I strongly supported some, was ambivalent about some, and did not support some. Did I think some of the signs and displays were a little out there? Yes, but I also think the names I've heard our past President called over the last 8 years were despicable and many of those names were much worse than anything I saw yesterday. I marched because there is not much else I can do. I am an introvert with anxiety issues. It took a lot for me to participate in the March.

I would hope that even if you don't agree with the statements of the celebrities that spoke or the signs that you saw that you realize that the huge mass of people was comprised of INDIVIDUAL men, women, and children with REAL concerns and that you listen to those concerns rather than casting them aside as libturds or the other derogatory names I've seen (and yes, I know it goes both ways). I just want both sides to LISTEN to each other.

Her lies don't make his any more acceptable.
Lies are lies. They are all despicable. But especially when they come from the highest office in free world.

What a reckless stupid decision to make using your rent money to go to an inauguration that you most likely can barely see. Baffling just baffling how stupid and careless some people are.

Drones - I'm just using your post as a jump off point since it's the first place the topic was raised. Thanks for bringing the discrepancy to my attention!

This article breaks down the numbers nicely. Obama had higher Nielsen ratings in 2009 than Trump but Trump did win out if you compare the 2013 Obama Neilsen ratings. Nixon still was the most watched inauguration.

Trump had less actual people attend it appears. He seems to blame it on weather but I recall weather being an issue for at least one of the past 2 inaugurations (I mean, they are always in DC in January). The weather certainly didn't keep the protesters away.

The article has a picture that was taken at what would have been Trump's view and from his vantage point it did look jam packed full of people, IMO, so I could see him spouting off assuming it was to capacity only to find out the reality later but by then he's committed to a storyline. Not how I wish the information pipeline went but how I picture it working under this president, all IMO

I chose not to watch the inauguration and watched Frontline's two parter The Divided States of America which I had taped earlier, and then some comedies.

I worked providing therapy to children whose future is in doubt as I've seen how our local charter schools handle special education students or students who should be receiving special education services. I'm terrified about the nominee for Secretary of Education.

http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/donald-trump-inauguration-ratings-30-6-million-obama-1201966171/

Trump’s inauguration ranked as the fifth highest in total viewers, behind Reagan 1982, Obama 2009, Jimmy Carter 1977 (34.1 million), and Richard Nixon 1973 (33 million). The 2013 Obama inauguration drew an audience of 20.6 million. Trump edged out Bill Clinton’s 1993 inauguration (29.7 million) and George W. Bush 2001 (29 million).

In household ratings — percentage of households tuning in — Trump ranks a mere ninth with a 20.1 rating. That puts him behind Reagan 1981 (37.4), Nixon 1969 (33.5), Carter 1977 (31.5), Nixon 1973 (28.5), Obama 2009 (25.5), Clinton 1993 (24.5), Reagan 1985 (22.3), and George W. Bush 2001 (20.8). It puts him barely ahead of Georg H.W. Bush’s 1989 inauguration (20.0).

That was not what I meant or intended to imply. I wasn't discussing or referring to Obama supporters. My peace smiley was sincere.

i would like to, but he was elected on lies, and now continues to lie since he has taken office, the man is just a compulsive liar and egomaniac, if you like his policies and you can live with being lied to constantly then im sure you will love his presidency. i dont care what anyone else did, or said, we are talking about trump here, and it is a proven fact that the man is a compulsive liar, he lies about things that arent even worth lying about because he just cant help it.

"i will release my tax returns once the audit is finished"

and now within 48 hours of taking office he has said he will never release his tax returns.

"oh but nobody cares about seeing them".

1 - thats a lie, lots of people care, its a proven fact.
2 - even if nobody cared - he did say he would release them, countless times, and he now says he wont and im sure he never intended to.

liar in chief.

I wish folks would give this new administration a chance.

I actually hope they keep it up. Their antics have gotten us:

Federal

President/VP
House 239-192
Senate 51-47

State

33 Governors
31 Lieutenant Governors
31 Sec of State
68 of 99 state legislative chambers

And SCOTUS for a generation :)
