Question...Casey signed a paper (I hope someone can remember which one) and at the end she wrote something like 'I'm innocent and the prosecutor is trying to get me to confess to a crime I didn't go'. Can she be questioned about that in front of a jury? It seems unfair if the jury gets to see what she wrote but the prosecution can't cross exam her statement.

I believe that is up to the judge. If that was before she had an attorney I doubt it will be admitted.

KC is young, and spoiled. If she has time to grow up, she could come to the place where she realizes what she stole from her own child, and have some pure remorse.
This is my hope for KC.

When Judge Strickland decided on this decision did he have all of the evidence before him (even evidence we haven't seen)or was it based on what we as the public know?

Interesting - doesn't the State have to provide some sort of documentation to give adequate reason for asking the death penalty in the first place. It can't just be on a whim - can it?

KC is young, and spoiled. If she has time to grow up, she could come to the place where she realizes what she stole from her own child, and have some pure remorse.

If KC told the truth or showed the least bit of remorse, perhaps the DP might not be on the table. Blaming youth, and being spoiled as an excuse for her to get a pass on the DP is not getting justice for Caylee.

I'm not sure, if Baez was her attorney, it sounds like it could have been some kind of affidavit. I remember that Baez wanted for her to write a letter of some kind, I think it was a timeline.

I believe the Judge is following the Florida law by allowing the DP as a sentence in the event KC is proven guilty by a jury of her peers.

IIRC it was connected to the motion hearing regarding the funding of the Defense and what KC knew, the affidavit stated she was aware and she added her own little gem to stick her finger up at the SA.

If Casey would have called on day one and said my daughter is missing I believe she wouldn't have the dp on the board and she may have even had a chance of getting out. It's her actions that lead her to where she is.

In theory, if a King was divinely ordained, then all justice meted out by an ordained King was true and fair justice. In reality; not so much. Hence, we have the Magna Carta in 1215 and all developments thereafter. Law is not static.

IIRC it was when KC wrote the letter to the court stating that JB would not be selling her "story", after the SA filed the motion requesting info on how the defense was being paid. She added the sentence at the end about the prosecutor being mad because she would not accept a plea deal.

You can find the affidavit she signed here. This was back in March when the state was trying to determine whether there was a conflict of interest because of how she was paying her legal fees. I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question but maybe one of our legal eagles here can answer that... I'd love to know the answer too.

The press was there at the stadium and all the major media outlets immediately report in breaking news that Nut Job shot Victim in Sports Stadium and was immediately arrested by Local Police. No identity issues; nailed right there before 50,000 people. Within minutes, a simple Google search for Nut Job's name or any key words produces several hundred printed articles printing all the "facts" available worldwide in moments. We still use our existing justice system to obtain due process and a fair trial for Nut Job. There are voir dire questions the attorneys can ask the potential jurors. Arguments of counsel and jury instructions can remind jurors they are to decide the case based solely on evidence admitted in court and given to them by the Judge. We expect jurors to follow these instructions. So, media exposure is clearly not dispositive of the issue of being able to get appropriate due process and a fair trial.

Thank you for a reminder of what "our" Justice System is all about and we as citizens should be grateful. We as sleuthers do tend to get caught up in the media spin. But as potential jurors and a member of a free society I am grateful of the voir dire process.

There are places in Florida that are really isolated. Like Interlocklen or Palaka or Deland, I have a friend who lives in Coco and does not know who Casey is. Some of these people don't have the internet or cable. So it is possible to find people who never heard of Casey.
