local media's first home tour and presser 10/27/11 **cancelled**

It seems the media is eager to accommodate anyone who is connected with the family ~ parents, extended family, neighbors, friends, attorneys. Every time an opportunity is denied it is also an advantage lost to keep Baby Lisa's name and photos in the public's eyes.

Statement from attorney Cyndy Short on why this morning's news conference and house walk-through had been cancelled: "That last few weeks have been exhausting to everyone working on behalf of the Irwin family, it has exhausted Lisa's parents and her friends and family. Therefore, the consensus is we all need a rest until next week. Therefore the pool camera photo walk through and press conference scheduled for today and tomorrow are being postponed until next week."

"Exhaustion" is lawyer speak for something is happening and we have to figure out how to handle it.

Personally, I think it's rather crude to give tours of the home to the media. It's not quite like a tour of Monticello or even Graceland. Some crime was committed here and whether or not the parents are involved, I just think it's out of place.

If the boys are questioned by a child psychologist, I seriously doubt they will be questioned like an adult or an older child would be. They may be asked to draw pictures, or they may be given something like a doll house to play with, and conclusions will be drawn from their reactions to certain situations. You can learn more about a child's life in the home through their play than you ever will through asking questions.

I don't know if DB and JI are involved in this or not. Yes, circumstantial evidence points to one or both of them being involved, but right now, it's mostly just opinions. There is nothing solid to convict. If there were, one or both would already be in jail.

Somewhere down the line, it seems that the fact a precious little girl is missing has been forgotten. Forgotten by everybody except LE and the WS crew.

DB and JI need to realize that it's way past time to stop caring what the rest of the world thinks about you, and do all you can to find your child. If you are honestly innocent, then sit down with LE and tell them what you know. Otherwise, this whole thing is nothing but a circus. A circus full of clowns.

Exhaustion can happen overnight. She could have been extremely tired for a couple weeks, and when she woke up this morning she couldn't put two words together in a row. She may now be on stronger medication. I can't be the only one who's ever known people who have a complete breakdown after holding it together fairly well, and then just suddenly they can't. They just can't even walk across the room. I don't know that's what happened, but I've certainly seen that.

Not buying it with these parents, there have been way to many coincidences in this case since day 1.................................:twocents:

Why do I get the feeling that DB and JI will be spirited away to a posh resort for some R & R? What parents would take a break from trying to find their missing baby if they knew that she could still be alive and out there somewhere?

Ed and Lois Smart took their family to Disney Land. They said they needed to keep a sense of normality for the other children. I thought it was strange at the time.

I don't know that's what happened, but I've certainly seen that. I had a dear friend who went temporarily hysterically blind when they told her her baby had a serious disability. She was completely blind for several weeks.

Stuff like that can happen.

But how does her exhaustion prevent her attorneys from having a press conference?

I think it's strange NOW.

Yes, this case is very closely followed by the media, and I'm sure this cancellation can actually be measured in lost advertising revenue.

Well, DB being too grief stricken to utter a word is a moot point anyway, because it was Short who was to hold the presser, no mention of DB or JI attending.

I think others have it right that there's more going on here than being too tired.

IMO

I agree it's weird but to put it in context it was also 5 months after Elizabeth had been abducted. Just for perspective.

IIRC, there was the possibility that Elizabeth might have been spotted in southern California (San Diego area, I believe), so their trip was likely twofold: Keep a sense of normalcy for the other children and meet with LE or FBI to consider the possible sightings of Elizabeth. jmo

I'm calling BS on the exhaustion. Short had to know how cancelling would look - it looks bad. Something else took priority.

IMO

That's my personal feeling as well, Gerogiagirl. But the thing is...they can't keep avoiding confrontation. Especially not with LE. It doesn't work that way. Sooner or later, the truth IS going to come out...all this is doing is prolonging the inevitable, imo.

IMHO...this family is not diabolical. I believe they are young, naive, unsophisticated, and may be getting some terrible advice. DB and JI could indeed be guilty, either one or both of them, but I just don't see them as being criminal masterminds. Neither one of them has been in the criminal justice system, nor do they have long records or any serious brushes with the law. I wonder if either one of them has any idea of the magnitude of what's happening around them.

Whatever profit the media does or does not make is immaterial at this point. The goal is finding Baby Lisa and if media exposure will help ~ one should not deny it because of revenue made by them. moo!

Two parents share their stories similar to case

Abeyta drove from Colorado two weeks ago, but the family did not know who Abeyta was and had no interest in talking with him, the door literally slammed his face.
But Abeyta was not leaving Kansas City with at least trying to figure out what happened to baby Lisa.

Abeyta met with the family Tuesday for the first time and offered some advice from someone who has walked in their shoes.
"The difference between us and them is we talked to anyone at any time. You are looking for information. It is a puzzle - you have to put the pieces together," said Abeyta

In 2004 Tina Porter faced every parent's nightmare, her children were missing. Now she is urging baby Lisa's parents to use every resource available.

She said even though it was tough to put herself out there day after day, Porter believes Lisa's parents should embrace the help of fellow Kansas Citians in the search.

Porter said. "They are not using the local media. I used every one of the local channels. I partnered with all the local channels so I could get as much coverage as I could."

I think it's great when media can make a profit doing something they should be doing anyway. I'm a pure capitalist. ;D

I was thinking earlier and thought maybe they announced this tour and pc to keep Lisa in the news, since yesterday was sort of slow as far as media is concerned (at least I didn't notice as much coverage). Once they learned of a search, they knew that would be enough to keep the reporters going today and possibly tomorrow. Weekends are mostly reruns, so therefore they can wait until monday to do the tour and pc to kick off the new week and keep her face out there.

I don't know if they are guilty or innocent, but this is one way to keep Lisa on tv (even negative attention is attention and gets her pic put up). How many other children are missing and we don't see anything on national tv? It could be a very smart move or it could be something else. We don't know. I hope it is just to get her pic shown.

Sure we are.

They're sitting around exhausted and grieving. They aren't speaking out on Lisa's behalf, trying to reason with the abductor, and they are not pounding the streets with flyers.

Action speaks louder than words, or in this case, inaction.

My God, and I never thought I'd utter these words, but Casey Anthony did more to "help" find Caylee via flyers and working the command center, and talked on and on with LE right before her arrest.

IMO

Excuse me while I go vomit now.

I was all set to "like" your post... until I read the part about Casey... I know what you mean but :silenced:

Other than that, ITA! Lisa's actions are speaking louder than words!
