Question for all...with as badly as Doc Samuels is coming across with bias/ethical issues, do you think she could use this as grounds for a new trial/review of the case?

Not sure if I am explaining it correctly, but I know defendants have gotten new trials from ineffective attorneys, but what about their experts?

I don't know the technicalities, but I also wonder about this. Seems to me that Dr. Samuels not being buttoned-up reflects that JA's receiving ineffective counsel.

IMO, it was the DT's job to catch and have Samuels correct 90% of these problems. So to me, the DT was either lax or in support of Samuels manipulating his findings.

In addition, I don't feel his findings sufficiently lay a foundation for JA being proned to be "trapped" in a DV situation. I say this because, according to Samuels, nothing serious was wrong with JA until June 4th. Seems he should be tying-in a life full of abusive relationships, i.e., setting up the DV expert more strongly.

To me, all of this points to possible ineffective counsel.

My guess is that he used the sink for support.

My point is not what he WAS doing at the sink - but what he WASN'T doing.

He WASN'T attacking anyone. And there is no other evidence that he ever stood - ever again.

JA could not have been trying to defend herself - or fleeing from a man who is standing at a sink for the last time, mortally wounded - not down but soon to be.

The sink speaks volumes. And it speaks for Travis imv.

I had always heard it was hard to get out of jury duty. Is it really kind of easy to say no when called?

I was meaning by Voir Dire, it is easy to not get selected, if you really do not want to serve, Simply state that you have heard about the case and do not feel you could be impartial, with all the questions, I think it is more difficult to get selected. But I think a lot of people want to be on Jury's, and even answer in ways to get selected.

I read somewhere that neither of these were permitted by the judge. It's because neither were 1) reported to the police, and 2) proven to be initiated by Jodi.

Word is, there was another girlfriend in Travis' life who allegedly might have written Lisa that crazy email. Also, there was another ex-girlfriend with a jealous, estranged husband who allegedly could have slashed the tires.

Neither incident was on file as a police report, so they're considered too loosy-goosy to be used in a DP case, I guess.

When did he have a girlfriend with an estranged husband? I thought she was just a friend.

Try not showing up and see what happens. NOTHING. Your taxes at work :/

The jurors' $12/day payment isn't making them more sympathetic towards Jodi.

Imagine being self employed and forced to listen to this bs for 3-5 months! You would have to file for bankruptcy. Imagine being unable to make your house or car payment for months because of Jodi Arias and her ridiculous defense.

They get a lot more after 5 days in a lengthy case I think it's like anywhere from 40 to $300 a day.

C. Subject to the availability of monies, monies in the fund shall be used to pay full or partial earnings replacement or supplementation to jurors who serve as petit jurors for more than five days and who receive less than full compensation. The amount of replacement or supplemental earnings shall be at least forty dollars but not more than three hundred dollars per day per juror beginning on the first day of jury service.

I asked my DH about this & he thinks that the first stab was probably to his chest & the one that nicked his heart vessel/membrane around the heart & also nicked the lung--Travis would experience a profound loss of blood pressure due to the immediate loss of blood--he was forced to a seated position, naked in a wet shower--she attacked in a frenzy.

Since he moved out of the shower to the sink, and then down the hall he was trying to flee--he didn't have the strength to fight.:moo:

LIGHTBULB MOMENT FOR ME

HIS BLOOD PRESSURE WOULD HAVE BEEN ELEVATED FROM THE HOT SHOWER WHEN SHE STABBED/SHOT HIM!
In her BS story of Advil & razor blade, she planned for the bleeding to be quick. In REALITY, she planned for Travis to bleed quickly. ugh...:what:

Do you think that the DV expert is going to testify just generally about battered women's syndrome and all of the different theories and patterns and explain the process or do you think she actually evaluated jodi & will testify that she was a battered woman. I just cant see why anyone who is respected in their field would want to risk their reputation basically vouchering for a sociopath & make it appear like she duped them too. Im curious to see how much this woman is willing to compromise what is clearly an established career in this field to defend someone who is obviously not a battered woman.
Yeah, it should be interesting. I'll guess that she is trying to change careers and only work as a expert witness as the reimbursement is most excellent. (She has to start somewhere.)

With a defense attorney LEADING her (and the judge allowing it), her testimony will outline all the abusive things Travis allegedly did to Jodi. She will go over the symptoms of PTSD and how Jodi exhibited these symptoms. She may also come up with crap about why Jodi doesn't remember stabbing Travis. She will definitely come up with excuses about why Jodi lied and lied to the detectives.

This psych doc is really a conundrum. While I don't really believe he is infatuated with JA I think he was very interested in this case and did lean towards the defense since they are footing the bill. I just cannot understand why he would base his diagnosis on a whopping lie and also not have precise notes. All I can come up with is he is arrogant and felt he would not have to prove himself in court. It is very careless to say the least.

Psychology also is far from an exact science with more than it's fair share of unethical "professionals", imo. Some in the field, such as this guy Samuels, find it a little too easy and to their advantage to manipulate information. They talk in circles, pick and choose the studies and research that supports their theory, use all the right lingo, and seem to be able to provide an explanation for anything. He has gone totally off the deep end in his attempts to try and paint JA as the victim. And with all his justifying and rationalizing and speculating, all voice of reason, practicality and common sense flew out the window a long time ago.

I really, really, really hope that the prosecution plans on bringing forth their own expert witness in the rebuttal phase. :please:

I'm curious: does anyone have a sense as to why these clips from the interrogation are being released now? Why not hold off until the court case is over?

Hmmm lets see, the Travis supporters had to remove their ribbons in the courtroom, his sisters and brother refused to, two women got thrown out because one said (while sitting on the Jodi side) that she wished Jodi was dead.

Then the doc answered the answered the jury questions with the same unbelievable reasoning and justifications, and never got the clue that this jury was exposing him for what he is and were crossing him off their to do list.

JW is up next to go over the doc's answers to the jury's questions. She goes back over each question and then questions on the test and how Jodi answered but he forgot the correct score sheet so her wrote her answers in from memory and might of added something to them, but doesn't see any problem with that. So after he's admitted to falsify Jodi's test results she sits down almost in tears...And then there is a stir in the courtroom and across the world as Juan Martinez stands up and bam it's on. It seems like he doesn't like Juan and got snippy and Juan backs him right down and then another sidebar and court is over..way to soon, but there is Monday court.

OH one juror asked if PTSD could be caused by a bad haircut and Jodi shot the doc the finger on national TV.

Thank you so much for this great summary. I missed some of it today and you helped fill in the blanks.

Re. BBM part. That juror obviously has figured out this Doc. He would diagnose a goat with PTSD if he got 250/hr from the goat. :floorlaugh:

Did anyone notice that the doctor gave two different dates for when he first met JA? One time it was 12-6-2009, another time it was 12-6-2010... and JM repeated the 2010 date.

Yep I caught that too.

And Jodi was still sticking with the intruder story when they first met....in 2010.

Jodi did tell Detective Flores that she would have worn gloves...

She was probably thinking if she had to do it again she would have worn gloves and used a larger caliber gun. I think she underestimated the effort and mess. (I know that sounds horrible.)

Can we compare Martinez to something other than a pit bull, they get enough bad raps. I realize pit bulls are known to be vicious and aggressive, and that's what people want here, but they are also loving pets. Can we choose something like a wolverine or killer shark?

I really hope JM isn't like a pit bull in the courtroom. All mine really likes to do is try and get snacks and she steals my spot in the comfy chair when I go upstairs to get coffee. She can be tenacious sure...but only for snuggles or if she wants to play :floorlaugh:

Anyone else notice how many times JA pretends to be licking her lips, but is actually sticking her tongue out at JM as he walks to or from a sidebar? I notice it frequently maybe b/c my ex would do that, in fact, JA reminds me of my ex in many ways.

From what I understand, Jodi met with the DV expert. And supposedly she shared her stories of being a victim of abuse and of the claims she saw TA getting off to pix of lil boys.

So I guess the jury will be left with the decision of whether to believe those accusations. If they don't believe Jodi's accusations, then nothing that the DV expert says will matter. JMO

Martinez will do a 360 with the symptoms this expert spews. He will show that TRAVIS was the abused, not Jodi.

All JM has to say to ALV is -

There is absolutely no evidence of abuse by Travis. None of Travis' other girlfriends ever experienced anything remotely like what Jodi has claimed. As a matter of fact, Mimi Hall has testified that Travis was always very respectful. There is no photographic evidence, there is no one to corroborate her stories. She has lied to the police, to the State, to her own defense team, to her psychologist. As a matter of fact when she was on the stand she said, and I quote "I lied to everyone". Now ma'am, why would in the world would you believe anything she told you?

PD I know MM "supposedly" saw bruises but then again, he is on record as saying he would lie for Jodi. Birds of a feather...so they say.

That is going to be rich. Where Jodi said all the lies were to cover and Travis and her own behind, where the Doc said she was having a break with reality, LV is going to say that she was still too scared of Travis to speak ill of him, even after he was dead. I guess all these could be simultaneously true, but I think it will become pretty obvious that the experts are merely tailoring their opinions to fit her odd behavior with ad hominem talking points.

Think the jury question about PTSD and it coming from a bad haircut was a jab at Jodi's bangs?
