Please no attacking because I am pretty sure everyone knows I am completely on the side that I want JA to get the DP...but I have to ask this.....I am just now listening to yesterday's cross of Dr. Samuels by JM and I love JM but does anyone think that he possibly could have been a little less attacking of him. I believe it is obvious to most that he is/was completely disorganized and extremely ill prepared and, imo, inappropriate at times....but I think everyone can pick up on that without JM being so aggresive. I do not want ANYONE to think some of the doctors discombubulation has come from this cross. Just not sure he needed to be so aggresive....again, JMO and not even sure I believe this way, just afraid some of the jurors might.

People who have gone to the trial in person say that Juan does not come across as too aggressive in the courtroom. They say it plays differently inside the room. He is a very small man and it is not as loud in the courtroom as it seems on TV.

Also, from what I have read, he has 'prosecuted 15 murder cases in a row, with all defendants found GUILTY. So he must know what he is doing and he must have a good read of the jury. JMO

It's as if her body is trying to conform to what is on the inside. ugh.

Yep, instead of "The Portrait of Dorian Gray", we have "The Hands of JA"!:floorlaugh:

HLN just had a woman the same size and weight as Jodi, pull a dummy the same size and weight as TA, through the their model bathroom they constructed on their set. She had no problem down the hallway and around the corner to the bathroom but it took some effort to get the dummy into the small shower stall.

I went back a watched the blood spatter experts testimony and saw something I never saw the first time I watched it.

The video will start at the right spot.

she actually crammed his body into the shower stall with her feet :( (I don't know why this surprises me.)

I totally agree!

OT but they just said an arrest was made this morning, a 17 year old and a 14 year old. They checked to see who was absent from school that day. Before I heard that I was having the same thoughts you were......

Hah. i hear ya. It's always best for me to stay away from the interwebs when I am in a bad mood.

I agree that compassion is a basic human emotion. People just can't understand how anyone can have compassion for JA. I can understand it from the standpoint that JA has a way of manipulating some people's emotions. Not everyone is going to fall for it. I am sure she set off some BS meters, and that's why TA's friends didn't like her. But, some people fall for it hook, line and sinker. JA is considered attractive, by our society standards, and she looked a lot better when she was first arrested. I can see a man of a certain age looking at her and feeling pity for her because he, like SO many, can't imagine this small woman being able to do something so viscous without there being some kind of precursor to the action. Then she talks to them in this "poor me, pity me" voice and it pulls at their heartstrings. We saw an example of this attempted manipulation in the interrogation tapes with Flores. Unlike the Good Doc, Flores didn't fall for it. So, yea, for whatever reason this doctor felt compassion for JA, he felt sympathy, he felt sorry for her. And although he claimed that he was able to turn off that compassion - you know, like it's a switch - after he gave her the book, it doesn't seem very likely to me.

When he said he saw her as alone and isolated, that convinced me he has improper feelings for her, and he's biased in her favor.

It started at the beginning for me. Do you have a time?

One of the things that we constantly work on my Trial Ad classes is how to get rid of our annoying habits and ticks. Everybody has them, mine is that I pace back and forth when I get nervous. JW probably doesn't even realize she looks like a whiner, but she's also probably completely freaking out inside, given how her case is going.

I think her biggest worry should be that by objecting too much, she's alerting the jury that whatever JM's talking about must be really important and really bad for the defense. Sometimes it's best to just sit on your hands, let it come in, and try to rehabilitate on re-direct...especially when most of her objections are being overruled. On the other hand, if she doesn't object, they won't be able to argue the objection in an appeal, so that's got to be on her mind as well.

All of this inner tension has got to her and is showing up on the exterior, IMO.

Thx, JR, and ITA. She also needs to work on curbing her facial expressions. She lets her emotions come out for all to see. And her reactions to either being objected to or overruled are immature.

I find it very odd that any mental health professional presented with a woman clearly lying about an incredibly violent slaughter doesn't contemplate that she may have a more significant issue than PTSD. How does a professional only believe what the known killer tells him or writes in her own journal and concludes she is peace loving and non-assertive and has low self esteem. Wouldn't you also consider whether she had a serious personality disorder which allows her to live in her "alternate reality" and nonchalantly discuss all manner of things with Det Flores. I assume one would view those interrogation tapes. Facile lying about a gruesome murder does not strike me as a hallmark of a non-assertive peaceful person. I just find his conclusions fly in the face of reality which he seems very willing to ignore in order to enter Jodi's world and accept her alternate reality.

Not to mention the text messages the Dr was led to describe as "mean" were accusations about the defendant that were about her lying, manipulation, sociopathology etc, hardly the normal insults romantic partners throw at each other-Travis was clearly laying out details of things Jodi did. How can a Dr determine from those specific accusations only that Travis was "mean" to poor Jodi and use that to further bolster Jodi as victim?

What truly amazes me is that the doctor admitted that he watched her dateline and 48 Hrs 'interviews' and still he sits there with a straight face and says he finds her a credible, nonassertive pacifist with low self esteem. :clown: Imo, EVERYTHING about those interviews scream narcissistic sociopath.

During HLN After Dark last night, I kept yelling at my TV (actually, Vinnie Politan) to tell the mock jury about Jodi slashing Travis' tires (twice) and his girlfriend's tires. I wish the real jury could know this, too.

Unfortunately jodi was never definitively tied to the tire slashings.

Thats where I get confused. I know there was the 'discrepancy' between the two sheets of raw data. Samuels admitted that he 'recalculated' one of the sheets from memory because he sent it in and had no access to it. [ which makes no sense in itself.] So one test was scored as a 15 and one as a 17. Okay....clown move. :clown:

But this paper that Juan pulled out at the very, very end of the day seems like something BESIDES that recalculation gaffe. It was something that he seemed to insinuate was being hidden from him. And he had already dealt with the other scoring discrepancy thing so...?

Hopefully, all of the confusion will be cleared on Monday. FWIW, I think this is where we stand right now:

Ex #534 (3/14)-yellow lined paper with raw data; per Dick, JA answered test questions and he wrote them down.

Ex #535 (3/14)- Copy of official PSD scoring sheet, hand scored by Dick using answers from JA. Only includes scoring by Dick, no raw data (answers). Dick must have left the full PSD scoring sheet on his desk; JM requests that it be brought to court. Test score for symptoms is 17.

Ex #550 (3/21)- JM produces complete PSD scoring sheet without hole punch marks. Test score for symptoms is 15, different from previous Ex. 535. Dick confirms at no point in time did he provide this to the defense.

Dick is confused...JM asks him for copy of complete raw data sheet. Dick looks through notebook and finds one with hole punches "musta been here the whole time". Gives it to JM who enters it for evidence (we don't have an exhibit number on this yet). Dick asks to be able to bring it home, Judge tell him to talk to Nurmi.

Soooo...something hinky is going on.

In spite of lawyers not being smart enought to understand raw data, JM latched onto something big with this "expert".

Ex #550 presumably came from Janeen DeMarte, the upcoming expert witness for the defense.

We already know that the scores on Ex #535 and #550 don't agree. But the real kicker is going to come on Monday when we will find out if the scores on the yet to be numbered exhibit is the same as #535 or #550 or new score and how that compares to the yellow answer sheet (Ex 534).

Careless or fraudulent?

Stayed tuned for the next episode...

JA diriver's license had her at 125 lbs. and I do not know how much TA weighed. First of all we do not know for sure if any ropes really existed. We would need to believe a huge liar, JA and I personally don't believe anything she says, she has just lied too much.

The driver's license that I saw showed that Jodi was 5'4" and weighed 115. When she stood up to do the "linebacker lunge" demonstration, it was obvious that Jodi was taller than me (5'4"), and the defendant herself told the jury that she thinks she is 5'5" or 5'6".

In most of the photos that I've seen of Jodi, she definitely had to weigh more than 115. More like 130, I'd say, especially if she's 2 or 3 inches taller than the 5'4" that's indicated on her license. :moo:

Does anyone else think the reason the DT had to hire an expert to say JA suffers from PTSD is because her "fog" is the only legal way for JA to basically plead the fiftth on the questions she doesn't want to answer while still being able to get in the points they do want explained in her favour?

No, but the pics of his office and that closet in the office looked like someone was looking for something. Jodi? I don't buy her story about the CDs either, Jodi was snooping or she showed up, unannounced and maybe, Travis was trying out his new floor cleaner...then, watched videos to distract himself from Jodi's rantings about Cancun. Somehow, we never hear about Jodi inviting herself, announcing herself as his girlfriend, stalking, etc. from Jodi...oh no, Travis couldn't stay away from Jodi. Everyone is always so in love with her! Phooey!

-------------
Hi, I wish any fellow who had dated Jodi would have taken the stand to say he only dated Jodie for the sex, couldnt stand her, knew Travis felt the same!
I'm sure there is some truth to this statement out there somewhere.:floorlaugh: I truly feel Travis had no real feelings for her. With everything including her lying I'm sure she's not the girl a fellow would take home to mom, unless thet were birds of a feather!! :seeya:

He did admit that he thought she had one or multiple personality disorders but said he didn't have time to diagnose which.

If the gun contained hollow point bullets, would ME or forensics be able to tell if that is what was found?

I don't understand, be able to tell what?

If you watched JW's face while the doctor was answering juror questions it was highly amusing. Her eyes widened like saucers  several times. And she looked truly frightened a few times and he is HER expert. lol

I don't think it was beneficial for the Defense for her to get up and walk him back through every one of those questions. It made him look even worse, imo.

Absolutely.

Yes, and he kind of shrugged it off like it didn't matter anyway. That seemed odd, imo.

Sorry...the reciept says cash. Forty five dollars.

She may have paid in cash but the return would have been entered into their massive database. That's a given.
