I'm listening to JA first day of testimony... she was attracted to Bobby (her high school boyfriend) and they met because he caught her eye at the fair- he was dressed in 18th century GOTH??? <mod snip>

Nurmi filed a motion to admit the letters, but JM pointed out that since they weren't originals they didn't mean anything. JM then asked for the originals, and Nurmi withdrew his motion to admit.

The only "analysis" I've heard of is that Chris Hughes said that Nurmi said an expert had determined they were genuine.

JA's mom tried to sell them to the National Enquirer and they said they weren't interested, which is pretty telling in my view -- when the NE laughs them off, they must be pretty laughable.

I read something different on the "analysis" part. I thought Mr. M had someone analyze them and determined they were copies and a mix of other inconsistencies. Can't remember where I read that, though.

I did read in the court minutes, however, that those letters were submitted by Jodi Arias herself during the short time she was her own counsel. After the judge ruled the letters would not be admitted, she said she was in over her head and wanted counsel again, so the judge reinstated Nurmi and Willy.

Hi everyone,

Busy weekend tryin g to get things done and I swear there is never enough time in the day. So now I am playing cacth up.

neesaki I have thought so too. He no longer wanted to have anything to do with her and I think conversations between the two of them had taken place saying as such which we know nothing about.
I think he told her to hit the highway at some point and she knew it was over.
Her answer? Kill him because if I can't have him no one can.

Yes, she was not going to tolerate rejection.

A lot of kids that age go through a goth phase, I don't think it's that weird.

Question - After the first girl kicked Jodi out in AZ where did she live for all those months b4 she moved back to CA in April 2008?

You can see an address on the check that she left for the car payment. It's a home address, not an apt., and it was still on her checks on 6/4, so that may be where she lived after the first place. It's Nido Ave., Mesa.

That is kind of what I had thought, and what we have to consider when placing the May 2008 phone call in context. This was not a guy battling down the hatches because a stalker was afoot.

I continue to be totally flummoxed (there's a Jodi word for you) by their relationship. I really wish we could see more of their texts and emails. Which I don't have any right to see, really, I just want to figure it out! :floorlaugh:

It seems like in early 2008, he had at least an idea that Jodi slashed those tires and sent that email. Then in March they go on a trip together. In early April he sends her an angry text and she moves back to Calif. In late April he sends her a text about how she's the prettiest girl he knows. On May 10, he sends her another text about "why don't you have him *uck you in the woods." Then hours later they have that phone sex conversation. After that it would seem something happened to end things for good, ending with his text message on May 26.

I've mentioned before that one of my sons had an up-and-down relationship for about 18 months that kind of went like this. On top of the world one minute and nasty exchanges the next. I'm assuming this relationship was similar, but it's so hard to figure out based on what we have.

If you are "the girl", you're totally awesome! Do more please! Lol...

Not me. Wish it was, it's hilarious!

JA reminds me a lot of O.J. Both are sociopaths who don't feel badly because the collective "we" are beneath them and couldn't possibly understand that they were justified in what they did. O.J. created this great lifestyle for Nicole, but she just wouldn't return the favor and stay in line with O.J.'s plan for how she needed to behave. JA, similarly, created the perfect wife for TA (she was pretty, she became a Mormon for him, she gave him what he wanted sexually, etc.), but he just wouldn't conform to her idea of their perfect future together. In the end, in their world, they truly believe that "we" will never understand that they simply had it coming. JMHO.

I think JA is scarier than OJ. She scares me like no one ever has before.

MSM?? I always though it meant Main Stream Media, which could be with or without pics or video.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that msm stood for that. I just always thought it meant multimedia, meaning it has pictures, etc.

At least that's the way my AT&T rep explained it to me when I bought my first iPhone. :)

Yet Clinton was a name thrown into the mix just this past week as yet another first boyfriend.

There is tons of speculation as to whether he knew/didn't know she was coming, whether she had a key or not, some have said at times she let herself in through the dog door...personally I think she had a key. She stayed with him at times and at one point was his "cleaning lady," so it would make sense.

I'm one of those that does not believe Travis knew Jodi was coming to his home. I'll list my reasons below.

There is a list of phone calls between Travis and Jodi that may show he had no idea she was on her way.

6/2/08 3:04 am 1011 seconds/16.85 mins Travis called Jodi
6/2/08 3:21 am 2450 seconds/40.83 mins Travis called Jodi

6/3/08 12:37 pm 17 seconds Jodi called Travis
6/3/08 1:51 pm 170 seconds/2.83 mins Jodi called Travis
6/3/08 8:16 pm 129 seconds/2.15 mins Jodi called Travis
6/3/08 8:34 pm 49 seconds Jodi called Travis

There are no other phone calls between Travis and Jodi after 6/3/08 at 8:34 pm. Jodi was in Sacramento, CA during the last phone call to Travis and claims to have decided at that time to go see him instead of going straight to Utah to see Ryan. If Jodi left CA immediately after getting her gas/Starbucks/making that last phone call to Travis she would have arrived in Mesa, AZ at around 3 am on 6/4/08. If someone is expecting you at that time of night one would expect for there to be phone calls between the two to make sure the one driving is ok and when they should arrive. Jodi claims to have arrived at Travis's home at 4 am, an hour after she should have arrived. Phone call records show that when Jodi did not show up at Ryan's as expected, he began to call her yet she did not answer her phone. Ryan continued to call her until he reached her and she lied about getting lost and sleeping on the side of the road.

Jodi knew that the doggie door would more than likely be in place, she also knew the code for the garage door, the doggie door was placed in a sliding glass door so that could also have been a point of entry. I firmly believe that Travis did not know Jodi was on her way and that he was not awake when she arrived. I firmly believe that Jodi let herself in and quietly snuck around the house getting onto his laptop and doing other things in those early morning hours.

Don't forget he threatened to tell EVERYONE about her. That was on the 26th, and didn't her grandfather's gun disappear on the 28th?

Coincidence?

Nope! There is NO COINCIDENCE when it comes to MURDER!

just sayin'
fran
It didn't take her long after the threat to stage that burglary either. I believe she had been planning this and the message on 5/26 was the final straw for her.

Yes, she was not going to tolerate rejection.

I just wonder exactly how much she did in fact torment him before she killed him. We know about the tires etc. But let's face it I do not think she was something Travis wanted to tell everyone about whether he was embarresed or just could not believe that he got tangled up in it.
His friends knew some but I can bet they did not know it all.

My favorite is at about marker 1:40 Dr Samuels wearing an I Luv Jodi sign.

:floorlaugh:

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh:"The Heat is Juan!" is hysterical. Now I will hear that song in my head for the rest of the trial.

Often the Defense tells their experts NOT to put anything in writing. Therefore the Prosecution has no idea what they'll be testifying to. Dirty trick but totally legal.

I would have to respectfully disagree here. There would be nothing for the expert to testify to. All reports, findings or conclusions that will be testified to are discoverable by the other side. As soon as any of those would be attempted to be introduced at trial by the expert, it would be a discovery violation, and therefore, inadmissible. Any testimony without the reports would be objected to as "no foundation." So, not going to happen.

I think you're right, that she tried to admit them herself. But I think Nurmi may have as well. Still not sure. Your analysis is probably better than mine.

I find it really hard to believe the defense wouldn't be using those letters if they'd found somebody willing to state that they were at least partially genuine. I mean, they found this idiot "doctor," you'd think they could find an expert somewhere. It would make their case a million times stronger. I think Nurmi knows their BS, and just used their existence to try and get people like Chris and Sky Hughes to admit to some kind of knowledge. JMO

I don't know what it says about me (eek!) but I don't find their relationship that mystifying. It was mutual until it wasn't, at which point the sex still was. But, for him it was just sex, for her it was the open door back into his life. He never grasped that.

Nurmi did? I could very well be wrong but I thought the hearing was when Arias represented her self for a week? I thought it has been surmised that she did this because either the dt weren't willing to deal with the questionable letters? As soon as the letters were rejected, she told the judge she was in over her head and nurmi took over again, i believe. Then didn't er mom take them to the National Enquirer who rejected them?

I agree. My mom used to have a customer whose granddaughter was total goth, and she was a sweetheart, very smart too.

She was shy and a little awkward and made friends with a group of kids who liked to dress up as goth, but they were all good kids. Played video games, dust drink and party, etc.

I don't think someone should be judged by their appearance. Everyone is unique and finds beauty in different things. And a lot of kids go through a "goth phase" as you said. :)
