When Samuels talked about Jodis alternative reality. Stepping into another world in order not to deal with the horror of what she had done. I guess the moment the alternative reality SET IN is when Det. Flores let her know he has evidence she was at Travis's house. Forensic evidence. What a coincidence.

How many sisters does Travis have? And could you tell me their names? THX

It could also be perceived as Nurmi doesn't really want to be there, so he doesn't care.

Whether he wants to be there or not, dude should consider that this footage is being saved on the internet forever, and nobody is going to want to pay his hourly rate for someone so sloppy and disrespectful in court. He isn't doing himself any favors, that's for sure.

I think she took the stereo and DVD to make it look MORE like an actual robbery. She needed that gun. Paw Paw would have noticed his gun missing, she couldn't just take it. She could have just used the DVD any time at her grandparents house. I dunno...just another possibility
She might have just given the DVD to Darryl's son, or sold it ??? I cannot figure JA out. We will never know what really happened on that fateful day.
Your are so right! It probably is that simple

Taking the DVD and Stereo would alert Paw Paw to check for the gun IMO.
Had she left those and just taken the gun, no telling how long before he would realize it was gone.
Obviously she wanted it reported stolen before she left town.
I think in her mind she had an alibi for the robbery so she could still use the gun in the crime.
This is very very close to the truth. :rocker:
Travis was repenting... but why the last rendez vous with Jodi on Jun4th? Why? Because Travis was the vulnerable one IMO.
Maybe that's why she stated it was either him or me... Because if the bishop found out Travis once again has sexual relations with Jodi this would be the last sacrifice?

I wonder if JA had called him and apologized for the sex tape and asked him to go to the Bishop with her so she could confess as well if he would have allowed her in his home or agreed to go with her.

IMO that is the ONLY reason he would even consider seeing her again.

I bet she also said she would bring her phone and PROVE that she had deleted the recording.

Didn't she lose that phone between the sex tape and June 4?
or was it after Travis died that she lost it?
I can't remember

:goodpost:What do we know about Travis going to the bishop? I'm not doubting, just interested in seeing that evidence, if possible.

What have I learned today, you ask ;)

The defendant who is seen in the police interrogation videos has contradicted many many times the defendant who took the stand and testified for 18 long days.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!
:great:

And with thanks to you TigerBalm ~ I too have learned the same thing, As we approach Easter...Some "BUNNIES" got some splainin to do :jail: Thank you for sharing ~

I know it's been mentioned a bunch of times, but it's so funny to see Nurmi turn the entire back of his chair towards Jodi to keep her out of sightline of the jury. <modsnip>

I'm so far behind and haven't been able to follow much this week. What was this about? Thanks!

I completely agree. When my dad was a prosecutor..trust me he would've learned social manners in his courtroom.

Wow! You must have so many stories about your Dad being a prosecutor!!

What do you think of Juan Martinez? What do you think his job is like--is it super stressful & long, long hours?

I would love to pick your brain!!:blowkiss:

Speaking of; did anyone else catch the spider reference used by Jodi in one of the interrogation videos. She tells Det. Flores that "she's never even hurt a spider" when he's asking her about anger/rage issues.

MM also used the same spidey language in the short-lived email he posted on the pro Jodi website. He wrote something to the effect that she wouldn't even hurt the spiders she found in their bath tub.

Hmmmmm...quite a coinky-dinky if you ask me.

For anyone that hasn't seen or didn't know, JA created a youtube account on May 29, 2008 and uploaded the TA as Eddie Snell video Jun 12, 2008. Here's a link:

You can click on her name and it will link you to show the account setup date.

Yup. Seems like old MM & JA had a little "meeting of the minds" before & after the murder.

Does it bother anyone else how Jodi is constantly spreading her legs during the interview? I can't stand it!! I can't imagine doing that--shifting around and spreading my legs when talking to a man I don't know...

Maybe she had crotch crickets.

I love that part where she's going on and on about her cat scratching her and he says "enough about your cat...."

Oh yeah, her cat sratched her. Her "feral" cat :floorlaugh:

I have been MIA for the past week and just now getting caught up, so please forgive me in advance for bringing this up if it has already been discussed at length..... Am I understanding correctly that TA's family, per request of the defense, is no longer allowed to wear ribbons in the courtroom, yet JA's is now wearing ribbons for domestic violence?

If this is true, how is it the true victim in this case and his family can not show their support for him, but the person who is responsible for his death is allowed support through these ribbons? How is it they are allowed to continue to wear these ribbons? There is no shred of proof that JA was a victim of domestic violence but we have nothing but proof that JA killed TA.

If there isn't a ribbon color for murder victims we need to get one.....NOW!

When you watch the trial videos keep an eye on Nurmi. He turns his chair so that his entire back is to Jodi. It appears that he is blocking all sight lines from the jury box. He's doing it on purpose to shield her from jurors view or he just can't stand to look at her. Or both.

My dad was a prosecutor on the German and Japanese war trials. He was a prosecutor in Tennessee and taught law at Georgetown University in his latter years. Brilliant man. He was helpful to the US government in setting up War Tribunals.

I think Mr. Martinez is brilliant. He believes that the truth never changes so if you are telling the truth about any event ..no matter how many times or ways he postures a question that the truth if you are telling it will be revealed each time.

If you are lying then your story changes everytime the question is possed a little differently.

normally self defense is evaluated according to the "reasonable" person standard, i.e. would a reasonable person in the same situation feel their life was in danger, in a case like here where death occurred. In a case where the person is claiming they were a DV victim the jury is instructed to evaluate the behavior by a different standard:

13-415. Justification; domestic violence
If there have been past acts of domestic violence as defined in section 13-3601, subsection A against the defendant by the victim, the state of mind of a reasonable person under sections 13-404, 13-405 and 13-406 shall be determined from the perspective of a reasonable person who has been a victim of those past acts of domestic violence.

Theoretically, a DV victim would have more fear and heightened fear of death because of the past violent acts of the victim toward him/her.

What I don't know and haven't researched (as I'm not a criminal nor a AZ lawyer) is what is needed to have the jury receive a DV justification instruction, i.e. what, if any proof needs to be demonstrated to determine that DV has occurred and thus the reasonable person standard should be altered. I don't know whether this just becomes another question of fact for the jury or whether it is a question of law for the judge to decide. Maybe AZLawyer or one of our other attorneys knows more about the application of this justification defense.

I have a question -- self defense is a plea, but saying one has mental issues (PTSD, for example) is not an acceptable plea for killing someone. It is either self-defense, or manslaughter, or murder (of some degree) -- correct? So why is the DT spending so much time on JA possible PTSD or DV victimhood or anything else?

Lots of people have PTSD or lived through DV and don't kill someone. It isn't a legal defense (is it?). So why are they spending so much time on the topic since it has no bearing on whether or not JA committed murder, manslaughter or self defense?

Am I "missing" something?
