Flores is awesome don't get me wrong, maybe I watch to much true crime tv. Maybe a rougher approach with JA would have been more effective.
I'm not saying Flores isn't effective, it's just that his soft spoken calm demeanour was what kept her calm.

I'm thinking that this juror #5 will be dismissed tomorrow. This judge is very cautious and will not risk this juror being a factor in an appeal.:twocents:

My surreal take on Mr. Nurmi's motion tomorrow:

Nurmi: I want to talk about that juror's misconduct, she clearly thinks my client is guilty! I filed a motion about Mr. Martinez's misconduct last week and now I find a juror contributing to the overall misconduct of this trial.

Judge: Mr Martinez?

Juan shrugs: Sure, Mr Nurmi wants to talk about everyone's misconduct, except his client's.

Nurmi: (In a close approximation of Dr. Samuels' outraged voice): I beg your pardon, SIR!

His calm demeanor was what made her feel comfortable with him enough to partially confess. He made her think she had him in the palm of her hand then pulled the rug out from under her. If he was more pushy, the DT could say she confessed out of fear. I don't think that approach would have worked for someone like Jodi.

Well, if they do remove this juror I hope it's with GOOD reason. And not because the "defendant" got a bug up her backside because of the way this juror did or "didn't" look at her. I'm still miffed about the hooplah over JM doing a few pictures (on one occasion) with people outside the courthouse.

It's time for JSS to take control and actually rule her courtroom with some backbone. I hope she doesn't just take the easy way out because of being overly cautious about potential appeals. It seems more and more in this trial that the clowns are running the circus. MOO.

:floorlaugh: I was serving as a juror on a capital triple murder and rape trial and was rushing to get to the juror room prior to the start of trial one morning, ran to catch the elevator, jumped in and hit my floor and turned to apologize to everyone in the elevator and saw to my horror, that I was sharing the elevator with the accused, his parents and the defense attorneys. Very awkward! I was wondering why there was dead silence as soon as I entered the elevator.

Okay, I was thinking if the judge was questioning the jurors about if they had seen anything, she most likely had to ask them very general questions so she wouldn't give them information that could be prejudicial. She probably just asked questions about how they came and went, who they saw, or heard.
Your post made me think - maybe the juror said she'd ridden in the elevator with any or all of the attorneys, and someone did something rude? That would probably be enough to use to get her bumped.

If anyone hasn't read "We the Jury" yet, co-written by seven of the jurors in the Scott Peterson case, you might want to read it in the downtime that this trial offers. It will be like Tums for your soul, especially when you compare the evidence in this case to that in SP's.

I don't think you can scare Jodi Ann. She only responds to a male she perceives she can seduce into buying her story. That's why Det. Flores was so awesome, IMO, b/c she only turned on him after he didn't get seduced! That's why she refers to him on the stand as "Flores." Contemptuous little thing when she's rejected sexually, isn't she?

If someone could play an effective "bad cop" I don't know what sex he or she should be. Any ideas?

I think Nurmi is working harder to get a mistrial than he is at actually defending this client. First is was JM now juror #5 for misconduct. Who's next? Eventually, his paralegals will be picking (at random) members of our own WS community for internet misconduct! MISTRIAL!

You're right, of course, lambykins. But I don't believe for a moment that this defense is Nurmi's idea. This is all Jodi's show. It reeks of her narcissism, which has left her so blind to her own transparency that she simply cannot imagine anyone failing to believe her brilliantly crafted self-defense-against-the-domestically-violent-pedophile-Travis strategy.

I may not like the things the DT does at times, but I do not believe they are stupid. There's a reason why Nurmi wanted off of this case. And leave us not forget, Ms. Arias would love nothing better than to defend herself. No, I say this is all her strategy.

Jodi has already admitted to killing Travis. She claims self-defense but unless this juror commented on something specific I don't see how defense will win this one. Remember Judge Perry asking potential jurors who said they thought KC was guilty if they could put that aside and judge her fairly. Some said yes and were accepted. Some said no and were immediately dismissed. The judge was right there so I would think if it were something this person could not be fair in her judgment the judge would have dismissed her immediately. jmo
