Isn't there a BIG NATO base in or near Frankfort? Could be anyone, I know, but I'm curious as to who the school board member was who received the message....do they know anyone in Germany? Hmmm. JMO

We're going to have to find a balance between taking reasonable precautions in response to genuine threats and shutting down whole sections of routine civilian life because some nutjob says boo.

We're new at this. It'll take practice.

I will admit I was grateful to hear how New York handled this. I was driving my son with Down syndrome to his High School when I heard the news on a local morning show about LAUSD. We live in LA county but are LBUSD. I didn't think twice and continued to drive to his school. IMHO we can not and should not live in fear. It's exactly what the terrorists want.

Since San Bernardino, we have seen whether it was our colleagues there who asked for the help of the Los Angeles Police Department as that shooting unfolded, or this morning when LAUSD reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department and the City of LA for assistance. We are here because our first job is to insure that people are safe in this city. It is very easy for people to jump to conclusions, and I've been around long enough to know that what people think in the first few hours is not necessarily how it plays out in later hours."

Yes, I suppose I should not second guess his decision to close down the schools. I think it was an overreaction HOWEVER I am not the one who is responsible for the children's safety. And I guess erring on the side of caution wins out.

Good lord!!!! It's a mad, mad world! So sorry to just read of this. What else could they do. If something did happen and did not heed warning......I hate the news as of late.

To me, they deemed it credible, and it is better to be safe than sorry.
And if they don't find anything after searching all the schools, then that is Great.
But if they did find something,or will find something, they may have saved many lives.

The LA and NY "threats" could also be a diversion from somewhere or something else. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong, but you never know.

Also, someone asked about using fake proxies for email addresses. Yes, of course that can be done, but the FBI or CIA can figure that out in seconds. Nobody is never really anonymous behind those proxies.

If this was some dumb kid that was just trying to get out of finals, I hope he will be severely punished.

In today's climate, I imagine he/she or they will be charged with making terrorist threats. A prank may turn into something very serious for them.

My opinion may not be popular, however I feel I need to speak.

100% support the decision to close the schools. A decision had to be made quickly. IMO, the school made a decision to save lives. Not sure how anyone will know ahead of time if a threat is credible or not.
