Where are all the English journalists? I guess LM has finally become completely irrelevant to anyone outside of Montreal where he committed the crime?

And I agree with Dr. Chamberland that LM was simulating psychotic behaviour and putting on a show in a big way in Berlin. While he may have been hospitalized for true psychosis in the past (either brought on by drugs or mental illness), there is noting to suggest he was suffering from one at the time of the murder, either before or after. If he was, he would have headed to the hospital or the police station as he's done in the past. Not to Paris after meticulously cleaning the scene and setting up his debut online and via the postal service as a crazed cannibal serial killer.

http://www.durhamregion.com/news-story/5158164-crown-psychiatrist-on-the-stand-at-magnotta-trial/

"It still seems very possible that the sane part of the gentleman, which was in touch with reality at the time of the acts, was amply sufficient to enable him to appreciate the nature of his acts and to know those actions were wrong," he wrote in his nine-page report.

Chamberland also said a person with mental disorder does not necessarily meet the criteria for a mental disorder defence outlined in Sec. 16 of the Criminal Code.

He also expressed doubt as to whether Magnotta actually suffered from schizophrenia.

"For me, there's nothing conclusive," Chamberland testified, adding such a diagnosis requires a long observation. He said he believes many of his previous hospitalizations for psychosis were caused by drug use — notably cocaine.

"I'm not saying Mr. Magnotta wasn't suffering, but Mr. Magnotta also said he was consuming cocaine at the time, which could clearly explain his symptoms," Chamberland said.

Magnotta himself told a Montreal psychiatrist he saw in April 2012 that many of his previous hospitalizations had been for episodes triggered by cocaine use. That psychiatrist had also ruled out schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

Chamberland said one of the medical dossiers even mentions that Magnotta's immediate family raised concerns he was mimicking symptoms exhibited by his father, who has schizophrenia and is estranged from the family. An aunt suggested it was just his way of seeking attention.

The Crown expert also said Magnotta's obsession with his physical appearance and looks flies against the usual symptoms exhibited by schizophrenic patients, who tend to neglect their appearance.

Okay so what's with the Risperdal? Anyone know why he told Dr Barth he was on this drug but wasn't and why he wanted it so badly while in prison? What's the attraction? Have we seen any evidence of what drugs he was ACTUALLY prescribed by any of the doctor in reports that have been brought in to this trial? Prior to the murder I mean.

Yeah, he was definitely on risperdal in 2005 because his doctor mentioned it in his letter to the court. But he was getting it injected at the time and started skipping the appointments.

So was he ever prescribed anything else? I'm not seeing it. What am I missing? What drug was he taking for his "schizophrenia" after the 2005 court decision?

Risperdal is not a drug that you can abuse to get high, and it is not addictive. Maybe he just felt better on it -less anxious. Or maybe he just wanted to throw his weight around and cause a fuss by demanding it. Histrionics.

There's no.way he faked schizophrenia for all these years to get access to antipsychotics. They are not a drug that you can use recreationally. Temazepam won't get you high either AFAIK, but it is very very addictive. We have no idea how often LM was getting temazepam though - doctors usually won't prescribe it for more that a week or so because you get addicted to it really quickly.

Moo.

Yeah, he's been on all sorts (though we don't know how compliant he was of course). The tweeters normally didn't bother to mention names of drugs or doses, but his doctors reports often mentioned his meds being adjusted.

I can understand why he would have been ordered to receive his medication via injection considering his "suicide attempt" by taking a whole bottle of the drugs and then going to the hospital (still not clear whether someone took him there or he presented himself :waitasec: )

I know we're only getting the tweets but this whole case is based on the fact that he stopped taking his medication in 2010 because of "Manny" and the Scientology, even though he was preaching Scientology years earlier than this. And they do not believe in anti psychotic medication. If he was following Scientology, he would not be taking the drugs of his own volition IMO. Not to mention, if he was taking the medication in 2010, and "Manny" is a "voice" then how did he appear to tell him to stop? Which is why the two defense doctors are stepping lightly about the possibility that he's a real person. Because all his previous years of internet posting, including his Scientology beliefs years earlier, have been eliminated from this trial. So the jury does not get a full picture. It's all tricks and games. So unfair.

So where is the proof that he was actually taking anti psychotic medication faithfully from 2005 - 2010? Or at all? Has the Crown neglected to get this evidence, or lack of, entered?

MOO

Which reports? Any between the years of 2005 - 2010? Wasn't he pretty much using the clinic doctor during that time frame? Dr Tan? Did he talk about anti psychotics that he was prescribing?
