MA - Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots player, charged with homicides #5

Cummings is the detective that got the SUV from AH's uncle's house. The only thing that was permitted to say (I think) is that there were other LE there conducting another search warrant. Cummings then investigated the car rental company that AH used & found that he had rented a car the morning after the murder before 10:00 am. This was brought into evidence. Prosecution is done. We are on break and defense will be next.

"Did you go see where he burnt his clothes? Did you see if he really had a cell or not? Did you try and retrieve his clothing... or track the movement of the witnesses after the shooting?.... etc etc ad nauseum....

I love Cummings. He stood up to Baez calmly but strongly. I think he will come across well to the jury.

It was especially strong on REDIRECT, when Cummings was able to describe everything he did in researching any possible gang ties of the victims/witnesses. He explained about the gang logs and the fact they never showed up on there and had no criminal histories.

That might really hurt Baez's gang drive by 'theory.'

Trouper Donovan is the one who found the 'locked' 4Runner with dust in the garage, dead battery, cleaned inside, when he was there on 'another' search warrant. Now his cousin is coming up, Jennifer Mercado whose house it was. Tanya Died! (His other cousin)

Talking about TL Singleton (Tanya's husband). Her eyes keep moving over to look at AH. She can't remember how long 4Runner was there. After reading previous testimony, she said about a year. No one ever used it. She doesn't seem to be happy testifying and doesn't want to give answers, but can't remember. Asking if she knows John Alcorn. Who's that?

So that car was parked in that garage for a year. No one ever drove it, it had a dead battery. Does that make sense? Who puts a nice car in a garage and locks it away, not letting anyone drive it?

So where are we with the trial so far?

Baez is throwing lots of punches and he has landed a few. However, the State is doing a great job on their redirects. They have been able to shoot down some of the most important points that Baez has been trying to make, in order to set up for their 'fantasy' defense case.

They really want the jury to believe that the Boston cops set up Hernandez and went after him because he is a celebrity. And he really wanted to show that the detectives didn't do much investigating, they just went after poor Aaron, because they felt like it.

And Baez REALLY needs to convince the jury that the witnesses in the shot up car, were actually violent gang members, in a gang war with Bradley.

So far, I don't think Baez has been able to do that. I know, he has not put on his case yet. But the accusations he is putting forward against Cummings have been falling flat. Cummings was able to discuss the gang files, and what he did to research these witnesses. And they have no criminal histories and they are not mentioned in the gang surveillance unit files.

ALSO, this judge is cutting Baez off at the knees....:judge:
