This is the worst defense strategy I've ever heard, woelrse than sweatered ninjas.

I guess, by pleading guilty to some of the charges, it takes that power away from the jury, lest they get so weary of finding Brian guikty, they just slip a guilty in for murder, too.

But this really messes with the State's case. I'm sure the prosecution was preparing to try him on all the charges. Hence Uber, Lyft, BlueJet witnesses. Proving Ana never went anywhere...

But we're all agreed. Ana was dead that night. All that's left for the jury is to decide if he killed her or if she just happened to die naturally, right before he hacksawed her.

It'll take the jury longer to fill out the verdict form then to deliberate.

Agree his defense is just plain silly. He would have been better off claiming he lost control when he found out about her affair. Personally I think he was using her as a cash cow. JMOO

I know I'm probably stating the obvious, but if Ana Walshe died on her own and Brian Walshe had nothing to do with it, an autopsy would show that. Brian would have received the $1 million in life insurance money, paid off his restitution in the art fraud case, and no longer had to deal with a cheating wife. The jury isn't stupid.

A lawyer should weigh in for you but here is my 2 cents

IMO Premeditation in Massachusetts state court can be shown to happen minutes before - It does not have to happen days or even weeks before - it does not require extensive planning. Lawyer Lipton is just posturing and making a gigantic fool of himself.

IMO ... this may be a tough hurdle - I am convinced he murdered her and def lean towards premedtated/intentional - but, could it have been done after drinking then having words etc and he whacks her or pushes her and she hits her head ? Accidentally?
I believe he will take the stand ( he has zero to lose in doing that and he loves the spotlight and to spin his web). But probably a game day decision.
What will he say when the P asks him the tough questions - have to wait and see but he is a natural liar so I think we will never know for sure what really went down. Even if I believe he told the mother what he did - would I even trust that version - I guess not.

12/2/25 Tuesday, Trial Day 2: State witnesses: Cohasset Police Dept. Sgt. Harrison Schmidt [was lead detective during the time the dept. was investigating the disappearance of Ana] back on stand. The jury is continuing to listen to the January 7 LE interview with Walshe. They heard more than an hour of the recording yesterday afternoon. They’ll now listen to the remaining 30 minutes of the recording. Walshe was questioned by investigators about a series of internet searches they discovered on his six-year-old son’s iPad during a January 8 interview, according to a recording being played for the jury. Sgt. Schmidt testified that he arrested Walshe later that day. Jury saw photos of contents recovered from the dumpster [recovered on 1/9/23]. Massachusetts State Police Trooper Nicholas Guarino [said he mainly works as a forensic examiner & helps with homicide investigations]. Participated in the execution of a search warrant on 1/8/23.
