TRANSCRIPTION OF INTERVIEW WITH FAMILY FRIEND

9TH DECEMBER.

Reporter - I've spoken with so many of Ana's friend's since we first learned of her disappearance from police late last week. These are families along the South Shore, friends of hers in DC, even former employees here in Boston, in the hotel industry. It's been a rollercoaster emotional week for these people, desperate for information and really holding on to hope that she would return home safely this morning. Devastating news. Those chilling details presented in court and they all learned at the same time that we did. But late this afternoon, just now, I sat down to exclusively speak with one of Ana Walshe's very best friends. JM is her former boss before she took this job in Washington DC, but he's so much more than that. This is a friend who was at the Walshe home on Saturday night and one of the very last people to see this Cohasset mother before she went missing. He's been in very frequent communication with investigators. Meeting with state police, calling them multiple times since, to provide any possible details that he can to help them as they search for his friend. But he described, for me, how everything seemed as it always was, Saturday night, celebrating the new year together.

Friend JM - Brian cooked an elaborate meal for us and we hugged and celebrated and toasted and... Just what you do over New Year's and there was a lot of looking forward to the new year. Like, there was no indication of anything other than celebrating the new year. Like, problems on hold, whatever life's problems were, life always gives us matters and problems and things to deal with, right?. That just always is, but the fact that they hadn't... you know, they had been living in separate homes, she was commuting back and forth. She wasn't seeing the children as often as she would have liked me. I mean, she loved everybody. She definitely loved her children, dearly. And.... (he chokes up here) so It was festive. She was texting with friends and she was sitting next to me at the bar stool and at their kitchen. It was... there was absolutely no indication that any modicum of a tragedy, of disappearance, or anything else could have happened that night.

Reporter - Now, this dear family friend, J, he actually met Ana a few years ago through Brian. He was first to friends and colleagues with Brian through a leadership course years ago, then met Ana and has closely befriended this couple over the years. Even that being said, his closeness and his love for this family, he admits that there were times during this week that he began to feel that this timeline didn't add up and he sadly suspected foul play.

Brian Walshe looked up how to ‘dispose of 115-pound woman’s body’ in days surrounding wife’s disappearance: report
The husband of a missing Massachusetts realtor is said to have searched online for “how to dispose of a 115-pound woman’s body” in the days surrounding her disappearance, according to a CNN report.

Convicted fraudster Brian Walshe, 46, exhibited strange behavior in the days after he claims wife Ana, 39, took a car service to Boston’s Logan International Airport and seemingly vanished on Jan. 1.

He left his house without his cellphone, got lost on a journey to his own mother’s house and forget to tell police about a visit to Home Depot, where he purchased $450 of cleaning supplies.

Law enforcement sources said Brian had also looked up how to dismember a body, according to CNN, prompting investigators to switch from a missing person’s case to suspecting that Ana, a mother of three, may have been

TRANSCRIPTION OF INTERVIEW WITH FAMILY FRIEND (PART 2)

9TH JANUARY

Reporter - This has been a heart breaking week for all of the friends and co-workers and family members near and far. The real people who love this couple. He sat down with me today and talked about how painful this week has been. Saturday night cooking, cheers'ing, playing with the couple's children and now these very frightening new details that we learned in court today.

Friend JM - I said, 'what's wrong, is there something wrong'? and he said 'yeah buddy, Ana's missing.

Reporter - That Wednesday phone call from Brian Walshe left JM in shock. He had only just hugged the couple goodbye after leaving the Walshe's New Year's Eve party around 1:30 in the morning, Sunday.

Friend JM - It was festive. She was texting with friends and she was sitting next to me at the bar stool, at their kitchen. There was absolutely no indication that any modicum of a tragedy, of disappearance, or anything else could have happened that night.

Reporter - The middle of the night work emergency with no cell or bank activity since, never made sense for J. He met Ana through Brian, but despite their friendship, his fears grew.

Friend JM - Both Ana and Brian have been, individually and together, very impactful on my life. A part of me had this suspicion all along that there may have been foul play and that, somehow.. just the story wasn't adding up.

Reporter - Those suspicions painfully confirmed by a Sunday evening arrest for misleading police and chilling evidence presented in court.

Friend JM - My biggest fear has shifted towards the children. I wondered if the children were safe.

Reporter - And fortunately, we know that those three young boys are physically safe. Our team first reported that they were in state custody. We know that there are some immediate relatives who also live in Massachusetts. But from these friends that I've been in touch with everyday, since we learned of Anna's disappearance really, right now, in all of this helplessness and fear for them, the only thing that they are finding some sense of calm or peace, if that's possible, from, is working together to try and figure out how they can financially and emotionally support these boys and keep a lot of faces who love these kids in their lives constantly.

Art Dealer Scammed by Missing Exec’s Hubby Speaks Out: ‘He’s Two-Faced’

Rivlin, a former talent manager and agent working in the music industry who founded L.A.’s Revolver Gallery in 2012 and is now one of the nation’s top dealers of Warhol artworks, on Monday described Walshe, who is now accused of trying to cause “a clear delay” for investigators as they searched for his wife, as “very two-faced.” In Rivlin’s case, he said Brian was initially “charismatic, articulate, transparent, and professional,” then did a complete 180 after he delivered fake paintings and was “unreachable until I spoke to Ana at work, and later the FBI.”

To that end, Rivlin said Walshe, who has been under home confinement for the past seven months as he awaits sentencing in the Warhol case, talked a great game.

“I’ve bought over a thousand Warhols and this is the one and only acquisition that got by me,” Rivlin continued, saying Walshe acted like a perfect gentleman until he got what he wanted, then he ghosted. “He was that good. Clever playbook and Oscar-worthy performance.”

Rivlin got involved with the Walshes in 2016, when he heard from an acquaintance that two canvases from Warhol’s abstract “Shadows” series were being offered on eBay for $80,000.

“It’s incredibly sad to learn that Ana is missing,” Rivlin told The Daily Beast. “As a parent of young children, I’m having a hard time processing this and hope that she is found and reunited with her family. In the immediate aftermath of the transaction, she seemed shocked and pressured Brian to call me. They were newlyweds at the time, and I got a sense from speaking with her that she wasn’t in on the crime.”

Ana Walshe's art conman husband appears in court on new charges over wife's disappearance

The husband was arrested Sunday and charged with misleading a police investigation. Prosecutors asked for $500,000 cash bail, which was granted under a $5 million surety bond.

Monday's court hearing revealed that investigators found blood in the basement area and also a knife which also had some blood and was partially damaged.

Prosecutors told Judge Mark S. Coven that Brian Walshe went to Home Depot and purchased $450 worth of cleaning supplies.

Ana Walshe, 39, was last seen on New Year’s Day when she was reportedly expected to use a ride-sharing service to Logan International Airport in Boston to get on a flight to Washington, D.C., where she works for an international real estate developer and property manager.

Cohasset Police Chief William Quigley previously told reporters that investigators could not immediately confirm the rideshare picked Walshe up. She was reported missing by her employer, Tishman Speyer, a high-end property management and real estate brokerage, and her family.

Ana Walshe's cell phone pinged in the area of the home both on Jan. 1 and Jan. 2, prosecutors also revealed at Monday's court hearing. Brian Walshe hired Boston-based big gun criminal defense attorney Tracy Miner, who is known for defending former FBI agent John J. Connolly Jr., who was convicted for joining Whitey Bulger’s crime ring. Miner was also in court Monday

In an interview with investigators, Walshe failed to mention that he'd gone on a shopping at Home Depot on Jan. 2, in violation of his probation, to buy $450 in cleaning supplies. He was wearing a "black surgical mask" and "blue surgical gloves" and paid in cash, according to the affidavit.

Police search North Shore dumpster station in connection to missing Cohasset mother Ana Walshe

Hours after the arraignment, a visible police presence could be seen at Brian Walshe’s mother-in-law’s apartment complex in Swampscott.

Investigators focused their attention on a dumpster at the Landing at Vinnin Square at 330 Paradise Road.

Boston 25 News sources said authorities towed that dumpster to the Republic Services trash transfer station on Forest Street in Peabody.

[...]

Neighbors in Swampscott told Boston 25 News they got chills when they found out why police had surrounded the dumpster at their complex.

“The one over there is automatic. When you close the door, it compacts,” said neighbor Pat Tradd. “It’s a scary thing to think about that, god forbid somebody put something in there, the compactor would compact it.”

[...]

The dumpster was towed from the complex after prosecutors painted a questionable timeline during Brian Walshe’s trip to Swampscott.

According to prosecutors, he claimed he’d also gone to Whole Foods and a CVS across the street from his mother’s apartment.

However, surveillance video from those locations reportedly shows no sign of him leaving hours of time that is unaccounted for.
