The short answer is yes with an asterisk. If there was a large stain on the rug from body fluids post mortem and she had been dead there awhile.. and the rug remained there.. then especially with humidity etc you would get a whiff every now and again. My guess is going to be she didnt remain on the floor or rug very long.. body fluids seep out and (sadly) i have seen where the fluids seeped thru the kitchen floor and down into the basement ceiling below. That person had been dead several days in the August heat. When a dead body remains in a home etc.. after a few days you often see a lot of flies up against the windows.. This makes me think that Bella had to have been refrigerated or frozen otherwise the flies would be around.. the fluids would be draining and the stench would be very noticeable.. even in the surrounding apartments. My Uncle died in June in his townhouse (100 degrees outside and no A/C inside.)
He was dead for several days before he was discovered.
After arriving in the DRIVEWAY and being overwhelmed by the smell...
My first question was "why didn't the neighbors complain?"
Apparently they smelled nothing. Everything had to be thrown out.
You could smell it driving by with the dumpster outside.
Yet the neighbors didn't notice... I've never quite understood that. :dunno:
My Aunt died the same day but was found immediately.
Her apartment was much easier to clean out.
I am pretty anal about checking up on people now.
I don't ever want to do that again. :twocents:
