Thank you for posting the trial, all the live feeds were not working well today. She is something else, changes her story as it suits her. I believe she will cause doubt in the juries minds.

I think he will walk.

ETA: what are his exact charges? Murder 1? Are there any lesser charges?

I've never heard that phrase for police station holding cells? And I am in the UK lol

I don't think we really use the term 'jail' in an official context? I think we just borrow the term from the US and use it as a slang for prison? Unless it's used in an official way in Scotland...I'm only familiar (on a general knowledge level) with English legal terminology.

Here, the term "Jail" refers to a county lock-up whereas "Prison" refers to a State Penitentiary. That makes it important when speaking to clarify if one is suggesting someone has been in State Prison or in County Jail. Accuracy, severity and reputation can affect the Jury.

This was after her death, right? I think it's very clear that MM doesn't know she's dead, that he thinks she is staying somewhere else at the time!

Watched today's testimony from RB. I am amazed the prosecutor gave her a deal. The defense attorney did a good job on cross on her.

Why didn't Pro give MM the deal? Does anyone know why?

I guess because MM is claiming complete innocence. His claim is that he thought Bella was taken by Children's Services.

The bigger question for me is why the state offered a deal to RB at all.

Hmmm....I don't believe him, but the mother's lack of credibility may allow him to walk. I'm starting to think they should have tried to build a case without the mom's testimony before charging MM.

Hi everyone, thought I would join you lovely people. This trial is upsetting. That poor baby. What an awful short life she must have had. I have to say that McCarthy will walk if the mother is the best the prosecution has.

I don't think they even have a case without her testimony. It's a "he said/she said" kind of thing. I don't think he's totally innocent but he is no mastermind. Texting her to not mention Bella in housing court after she was killed really makes it look like he thought she was still alive. I really wish they hadn't made this deal with her. Lying liar who lies.

Hope the press and public really push the State to explain this one once the trial is over.

Good prosecutors understand double jeopardy and make sure they don't bring weak cases to trial, cuz it is a one shot deal unless there is a mistrial. Based on the way things are going so far, a betting person would wage on MM getting off. And the plea for RB makes no sense- just have to hope that the judge doesn't go by the sentencing recommendation.

Justice for Bella, the victim, only means something if the person(s) at fault are the ones found guilty and punished.

Oh, I so hope the judge doesn't adhere to the plea deal!! That, at least, would be SOME justice for that poor baby…

  • #396
Anybody know how much she could get if the judge doesn't follow the plea deal sentencing?

  • #397
i think she was burked by mom because she wouldn't go to sleep and they wanted to get loaded.

What do people think happened to Bella?
I honestly have no ideas. I do think both MM and RB were probably high as a kite when it happened:(

not in defense of RB but a lot of ppl do the same thing w toddlers once they are out of the crib so they don't fall off the bed.

listening to part 2 of RB yesterday....so Bella sleeps on a mattress on the floor and RB has a bed. Nice.
