Yes I agree. The Spanish speaking cleaner probably felt terrible later on. He did try to communicate his concerns and was misunderstood.
Not strongly enough.:notgood::snooty: He should have kept insisting that he come see.

no chance, the defense admitted on opening that he raped and killed her, which makes it very confusing why they are challenging some of the prosecution witnesses at all.

Obviously the evidence (blood) collection was faulty because of the janitorial cleanup, but that doesn't negate her murder or Chism's confession to it. It wasn't even that Chism tried to clean up his crime scene.

Just jumping off your post ...

I don't get the feeling at all that he tried to hide his crime. His initial caution (the gloves and the hood) seems to have mostly evaporated once he had killed her. I guess his emotions took over - he seems driven to me, as if all he then wanted was to stage her in that particular way to fulfill whatever pathological need drove him to do that. He didn't avoid the cameras.

He also immediately confessed when asked who's blood it was on the box cutter.

I wonder if he was even aware of the cameras?? You'd think so because of the hoodie, but he sure didn't try very hard to hide his crime once he succeeded in committing it. He was sloppy.

I've never heard that detail either. Interesting that the question was asked and an immediate sidebar was held. This could be part of the defense insanity defense, Chism was psychotic and thought he had been to China? We'll have to wait to find out what that question is about.
Maybe that's why he felt insulted, that he could know how to write in Chinese without having visited the country??? Who knows what trivial excuse it took to set him off. I'm confused though why the teacher asked these students to stay after if she wasn't actually helping them with math? Detention? To get to know them better???

The crime scene cleanup witness said they put bloody leaves in a bio bag, then raked other leaves over the location to return the scene to it's original state.

Okay, so you remove the things you can that are bloody like leaves and sticks. I never would have thought of that- to me it's like vacuuming up dirt, you just leave nature alone... What about the blood on the trees?

  • #1,086
Yeah, but obviously Pimental didn't convey it strongly enough how much blood there was. He just accepted the hose and key instead of trying to urge the supervisor to come see.

In the past a blast from the past..MBA case that I studied years ago.

Years ago they investigated some airplane crashes.. And they found the crashes perhaps were due to the Junior person not having the clout to disrespect a senior person and what they thought . It was a sign of disrespect to question ..it was not within their culture to question authority.

Sorry.. but I have an inkling this might have contributed. Thank goodness for all the cameras!

As the girl described it I got the feeling Colleen was trying to get PC to come out of his shell a little bit. She probably sensed that he was troubled and tried to help. Bless her soul.

Is PC gonna be questioned in court?

From a defense perspective, it's risky. I doubt it, but perhaps his attorneys will to try and make a better pitch for the insanity defense. However, in my experience, you would usually only put a defendant on the stand if you knew the prosecutor didn't have any "gotcha" topics that hadn't already been covered, and you felt comfortable that the defendant would keep his cool on the stand. Chism is too much of a loose cannon. That said, it ultimately is the defendant's choice whether or not to testify, and it's difficult to predict what Chism will decide to do. :twocents:

Yes, I agree. I think she asked him to stay after class because of his behavior during class that day, listening to music in class and not stopping when he was asked, and not because he needed academic help with math. For someone who behaved so rudely in class, it sounds like she was very gentle with him and took it as a sign that he was unhappy at his new school rather than taking it personally and getting angry. I wish I could say I would have been so understanding when I was a professor.

The other student wasn't in Ritzer's class and just liked her. I think that CR used to stay after for a certain period of time each day (or on certain days) during which students were welcome to drop in, and so that student and maybe others would come by for a chat even if they didn't need homework help if she wasn't actually working with someone, sort of like keeping office hours.

Yes, I agree. I think the social demands of the situation are such that if you are a cleaner, maybe a recent immigrant and someone who doesn't speak English very well, and lower in the organizational hierarchy, you try to convey what's going on, and if the person on the other end doesn't understand or puts you off, it's very hard to be more forceful. Frankly, I'm an executive and don't have the added handicap of not speaking the same language and it's very hard for me to be more forceful with the CEO when I don't agree with something or don't think I've been quite understood, even though we have a good relationship.

She really was. I can't help but think of all the good she could have accomplished that was cut short.

bbm - what does that mean? Which statement and to whom does she show it? Did the girl contradict herself or what is shown here by defence?

I wonder if something happened with him at his previous school in Tennessee..and that is sealed and will not be made public because he's a minor and that information would be protected by the school system?
