How does a 14 year olds mind become so demented to commit such a heinous act.

I want to know if his computer forensics showed a lot of and extreme violence.

BeginnersLuck, from my research, many, if not most of the serial killers past, crossed the threshold from fantasy to reality at the age of 14 years old.

PC, imo, has escalated beyond his years and CR is not his first sexual assault victim..

Watched the live stream of 17 yr old Austin Sigg's sentencing hearing for the abduction/sadistic rape/mutilation of 10 year old Jessica Ridgeway(CO), over the last couple of days. The info/evidence in his brutal attack/rape/murder was initially sealed by the judge due to the brutality.

I've watched a lot of trials of sadistic sexual predators/serial killers in the past, but none as dark and evil as Siggs'..
Hope PC's brutal attack and murder of CR wasn't as brutal and horrific...

I do agree with you about age being significant. Puberty being a factor with the onset of fantasizing. I do think there are a zillion variables that can come into play though, with those that do cross the line between fantasy and reality and at what age they do cross the line. The ease of finding all sorts of bizarre sexual and violent content within seconds through the internet, is all to convenient to help feed these fantasies and may contribute to a larger pool of these young violent offender that we are seeing.

14 is definitely on the young side IMO, for a crime of such violence. Siggs was 17? I believe. He had prior attempts but I am not aware of his age at the time. Holder was 17 with no known priors and that was a horrific murder. Aurora school shooters were 17 & 18. I guess most of the cases I have followed with young violent offenders have been around the age of 17 when they have committed their first offense.

Your research has been much more extensive than mine though, so I will trust your word on your findings about age.

I wonder if the object she was raped with has something to do with the information his classmates didn't realize was important? I feel so bad for Colleen's family. I can't imagine how they felt hearing the new information today.

I am just sick after reading this.IMO it was the box cutter and I really wish they had the death penalty.He deserves nothing but death.His age should not even be a factor,he is not a child he is a monster.He committed a brutal horrific crime and does not deserve to stay alive.

Horrific. Just horrific. Poor Colleen! May she and her family find peace.

He looks older than 14, esp in the photos after his arrest. He must be very repressed, everybody describes him as such a nice kid, and then he goes and does this. Scary!

I also feel sorry for his mother.

I also wondered if he tortured and killed animals as a child.I think he also kept that underwear as a trophy.He is a sick creature beyond words and to think he is only 14.It is hard to believe he could keep that violent nature under cover for this long.Usually
there are signs or were they just ignored.

I think what's tragic is not only this 14y.o. kid murdered a well-loved teacher in cold-blood and that he may have even raped her, but that his mother is reportedly a social worker and she had no clue he was becoming a monster of the most heinous sort. SMH

I have some ties to the area ... relatives and friends who live in both Colleen's hometown of Andover MA and in Danvers. Both towns are beautiful, and of course this is a shock to everyone. Sometimes I really regret that details are released..... much love to Colleen's family and friends xx

The Associated Press, The Boston Globe and other media organizations have asked a Salem District Court judge to lift an order that bars public viewing of search warrants and other documents in the slaying of 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer. Some of those documents are expected to be made public Friday.

Philip Chism, 14, has been held without bail since shortly after the Oct. 22 killing. He was indicted Thursday on charges of murder, aggravated sexual assault, and armed robbery. Authorities say he sexually assaulted Ritzer with an object before killing and robbing her.

"The indictments returned today detail horrific and unspeakable acts," said Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett...

Good Lord, that is horrible. So it was all preplanned, he came to school that day apparantly intending to kill her all along. I am still a bit confused by the rape charge. Was she still alive when he dumped her body in the woods?

Yes PrairieWind, horrific.. and I don't see the news getting any better, only worse. Guess, we see now why the word 'alleged' was not used in prior articles..

Imo, CR was raped in the restroom. The use of the object; tree branch, would have been post-mortem and likely related to the posing of her body, imo.
According to past articles, CP physically assaulted her once inside the restroom, and then cut her throat with the box cutter.
