I'm a bit confused. Are you looking for the woman in the archived news articles? (the one article required a subscriction so did not view). Perhaps someone here skilled in geneology can assist. From a missing persons standpoint 50 year old court and or death records would be very difficult to find.

Thank you for your comment.
I have my dad's dna uploaded to Ancestry and a relative has done alot of work trying to connect the dots, as he is skilled in the area, but had no luck.

I'm not versed in it - being adopted I never did the geneology work. But some folks here are skilled at it. Best of luck to you in your search.

Just to,add that I cannot find a date of divorce from John Caravoulias, who remarried a certain Mary Coughlin, also now deceased, in 1961. She had a daughter born 1956.

The newspaper posted in #1 is of 1948. She is referred to as Miss.

Found a copy of the Newton school book of 1939 mentioned in my previous message

So in 1943 she was living in Waban, but moved in 1944 to 86 Revere st, Boston;

I also found some old newspapers talking about the custody fight for her

The Boston Traveler

Mrs. Conant's counsel. Atty. Harvey I. Pratt, today asked that the decree awarding the custody of the daughter to Conant be set aside, and fled specifcations stating that the husband was not qualified to care for the child, and has no affection for her. IRA M. CONANT WINS CUSTODY OF CHILD Mother Fails to Show He Is Unfit Person Ira M. Conant, Boston accountant. won custody of his 3 - year - old daughter. Emmaline, yesterday afternoon, when Judge Leggat ruled, in the last of a series of Middlesex Probate Court actions involving the Conants, that Mrs. Grace L. Conant of Watertown had falled to show that her husband is not a fit person to have the care of their child. Conantobtained a divorce about six months ago. A recent effort on the part of Mrs Conant to have this decree set aside was unsuccessful. Then Mrs Conant sought custody of the child, claiming the father was unfit to care for her. Yesterday the mother testified she went to an apartment on Beacon st. where the child is living, to see the baby. She said Conant allowed her to see the little girl for only 15 minutes and then took the child from her arms. and said it was time for her to leave.

. CONANT TO WED LAWYER Bride - to - Be Says They Will Marry Next Week IRA M. CONANT Who has filed intentions to wed Miss Viola C. Smith, attorney. Ira M. Conant, a public accountant at 110 State street, who was granted. divorce from his first wife two years ago on the ground that she had been intimate with his business partner, Ernest W. Griswold, has filed intentions to marry Miss Viola C. Smith a lawyer employed at 00 State street. a Miss Smith, who lives at 31 Gardner street, Allston, stated last night that no definite date had been set for the marriage ceremony, but that it would occur some time next week. Mr. Conant's divorce case attracted considerable attention at the time it was tried in 1924, as he charged that Mrs. Conant had accepted an offer of marriage from his business partner in his presence. Mrs. Conant did not contest the divorce until the day before it became absolute, when she unsuccessfully endeavored to have the case reopened on the ground that she had been prevented from telling her story by the " duress and undue influence " exercised over her by Ernest W. Griswold, her husband's one - time partner. Mr Conant was given the custody of his five - year - old daughter Emmaline. He has been living at 636 Beacon street.

Thank you for your reply. I just ordered a DNA test from Ancestry and my dad(Emmaline's son) did his some time ago. I have a FB friend who is in her tree who already looked at the DNA in GEDMatch and could not find anything past a half sibling of my dad's from his father's(Emmaline's partner) side, which was very cool because she had the same interest in horses as my dad!

Yes, I am looking for Emmaline-e.g. Emmeline/Emmiline/Emaline/Emeline/Emiline/Emily. Shre is my birth grandmother who had married in Dracut, but her husband was granted a divorce per "Desertion". Did she die without his knowledge? Did she go into a mental illness hospital, was she murdered, did she commit suicide?
I have invested some in Private Investigators/Agencies. One in Boston found less than I found with Ancestry records with his skip search and the other has done:
  1. Lowell Police Department: We have reached out and made arrangements to physically check old records, including missing persons reports, unidentified persons, and records of deceased individuals without identification during the relevant time period. This process required some coordination with the department, but we now have access to begin this search.

  2. NAMUS and Nursing Databases: We have checked the NAMUS files and cross-referenced updated and historical databases to identify any potential matches. We have also reviewed nursing records to see if there were any renewals or updates to her license.

  3. Historical Records Requests: We’ve submitted requests to the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Massachusetts to search for historical records that might provide clues to her whereabouts after 1953.

  4. Military Records: We’ve also reached out to the US military to see if she ever received payments or used an address to receive any documents. This is an important avenue to explore, given the potential for her involvement with the military.
Philadelphia Meeting: On Wednesday, October 16th, I will be heading to Philadelphia for a Vidocq Society meeting, of which ---- is a member. This group specializes in cold cases, and I’ll be speaking with key individuals who have access to unique historical databases that may be beneficial to your case.

Also as of 11/22/25:
Law Enforcement and Medical Examiner Inquiries

  • We have spoken with both former and current members of the Lowell Police Department, including officers who served decades ago, to determine whether any unidentified female remains were found in or near Lowell during the relevant time period. These searches were expanded to include several years before and after 1953.
  • We also met with the Commander of the Massachusetts State Police Missing Persons and Cold Case Unit, who is reviewing cases that may involve unidentified females found in surrounding towns.
  • We’ve worked directly with an investigations manager from the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston to hand-search older records that predate digital systems. These searches have taken time because the material is paper-based and dependent on staff availability, but they were done with diligence.
  • Additionally, we are in communication with the Commander of the Boston Police Cold Case Unit, who is actively reviewing potential matches. I will be speaking with him again on November 19 in Philadelphia.

and:
Federal and Archival Investigations

  • We initiated contact with U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) due to Emmaline’s connection as an Army nurse, to determine if any payments, correspondence, or record activity occurred after 1953. The initial response indicates nothing found so far, but the search remains open while additional record sets are reviewed.
  • We have routinely checked the National Archives for any relevant entries that may appear over time as additional data is digitized or released.

and:
National Databases and Forensic Outreach

  • Consulted directly with NamUs, confirming that no current unidentified profiles match Emmaline’s timeline or description.
  • Coordinated with Light the Way Foundation, which is fully prepared to launch a nationwide media campaign once we complete a final short consultation with you. This will help ensure accurate and sensitive presentation of the case.
  • Presented this case personally at every major Homicide Investigators Association conference where I was a featured speaker — including Pennsylvania, Virginia, and North Carolina — bringing Emmaline’s name and story before hundreds of detectives, investigators, and forensic professionals across the country.
  • Discussed the case within the Vidocq Society, where I serve as a Board Member. The case has been reviewed by some of the top forensic experts in the country with access to FBI, ViCAP, and national cold case resources.

and:
Genealogy and DNA Research

  • We’ve continued collaboration with professional genealogists who are reviewing all possible genetic genealogy routes. Efforts are underway to explore access to additional DNA databases beyond GEDmatch and FamilyTreeDNA to expand potential connections or family links.

and:
Insurance, Public Records, and Social Security Inquiries

  • Inquiries have been submitted to the National Association Bureau of Insurance to determine if any life insurance benefits were ever paid in Emmaline’s name. Preliminary results show no matches, but we continue to monitor for updates.
  • Regular checks through Social Security and other public record systems continue to ensure that if Emmaline ever resurfaced under another name or location, we would know immediately.

and:
Media, Conferences, and Public Awareness

  • The case will be featured on several national podcast series that have a combined audience in the millions. These appearances are confirmed, and we will be sharing Emmaline’s story publicly in a careful, professional, and factual way to encourage new leads or recollections.
  • At each national conference and professional speaking engagement — including CrimeCon, the University of Wilmington True Crime Series, and several homicide investigator associations — I’ve continued to discuss the case with peers and subject-matter experts to generate ideas and new perspectives.

Also, thank you for the Conant genealogy.
I have contacted the family of Ruth and they said they have been contacted in the past about her but that they were all "scams".
Emmaline was searched for by her "favorite" Aunt Edith's obit(estate) in Poundridge NY for inheritance purposes.

Also, Emmaline was not the birth child of Ira Conant, rather her mother(Grace) had had an affair and the real father was Dr. Gordon Hegarty.

Thank you so much for all this.
She was in her favorite aunt Edith's Poundridge NY obit for inheritance purposes put in the paper by her estate. (sister of Ira Merrit Conant-her guardian(not birth father despite having same name). Apparently, her favorite aunt had also lost track of her.
