I was driving by there a few weeks back and thinking of her. I hate that she's been left for so long without a name. I agree CheddarMom, it's weird that she's so completely forgotten.
Well, not completely forgotten. Here we are not forgetting her 40+ years later! And that's wonderful but it's still so sad that the right people seem to have forgotten her. I really hope someone comes along one of these days or finds a missing spot in their family tree or something.
The dental thing can be so many things, I've seen so much speculation throughout the thread. I'm not so quick to peg her as mentally disabled or as a prostitute or a meth head, but who knows? I hope it wasn't a result of a sad or neglectful childhood as well. I assumed she had weak enamel, maybe was a runaway, or at worst someone who had been kidnapped for maybe a while (kidnappers don't take their victims to the dentist, and that shirt could have come from anywhere). That shirt is odd, but again who knows where she got it, a thrift store, a friend along the way, something she made, ect. I get the feeling she was not from around here.

I know LE exhumed her body over two years ago but does anyone think Othram would be interested in this case? Everything they touch seems to turn to gold.

It's worth a shot, I think. Who pays for that kind of thing? LE? Concerned citizen crowdfunding?

I feel like I just saw them elsewhere on Websleuths looking for new case suggestions to add to their pile. I do think it's a long shot because there are so many cases needing attention, but I think it's worth suggesting. Yes, I think it's often crowdfunded work, though I'm assuming that's only part of their work?

A lot of it is from crowdfunding.

@othram, is this a case you might be able to take on?

The only additional thing I could find in the reporting at the time was that the medical examiner suggested the ring could have been a wedding ring, which leads me to believe it was a gold band rather than a more detailed piece. Still would be nice to see the "illegible initials" (from NamUs).

Pertinent part attached.

CCJD's post with the newspaper articles got me digging around on GenealogyBank a bit. I found an article about Granby Girl side by side with another article about a girl from Springfield, MA, Anne Marie Besner who had been shot in the head and dumped by the side of the road and found in CT about a month before G.G. was found. Anne Marie was 15 and a runaway from the Pelletier Detention Center in Marlborough, MA, she had not been reported as a runaway. They got the guy, Antonio Vega. I'm curious if there is any connection between the two. I'll try to get a screenshot of the article and get it up here. If this has already been discussed, sorry, I tried to browse through the forum and didn't happen to catch it.

Here's the one I found. They should really test that belt if they still have it.

I'm hoping this means this set of remains has been identified.

A non-geo restricted link for all us non-US folks:

That's the first time it's been mentioned that the bullet was never found, to my recollection. It would be nice to know what temple she had been shot in, since it could determine if she was shot as a passenger in a vehicle.

Also, I thought I had read (without combing through all the posts) that it was determined that she wasn't buried but that a log had fallen on her body effectively hiding her.

I hope this is good news.

Yes, autopsy showed gunshot to left temple, with belt used either to drag or strangle (as well, I suppose).
