#BREAKING: @DARollins says the body of 23 yr. old #JassyCorreia is currently with the Delaware Medical Examiner’s office. Rollins also says she believes this case “belongs in Boston” either in Suffolk Co. or US Courts in #Boston. #7News

Also, a very good friend of mine/roommate actually works at the Delaware Medical Examiner's Office. When I get home from work at 7pm EST, I will ask and see if she has any information. Anything that I can find, I will certainly pass along to my fellow WSers.

BREAKING: Court documents out of Delaware show Coleman is accused of "mutilation of dead human body." Details to come on @wpri12

Tim White on Twitter

@HayLouise , or anyone else who can answer this question for me as I am somewhat of a novice when it comes to this. Do you know where or how I would go about finding the documents relating to this case on the Delaware Court website? I have managed to get myself to the Delaware Superior Court website, but as of now I am at a complete loss. It's really my first time trying to locate such things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and a thousand thank you's in advance.
First, I believe the reporter meant to say “... documents out of Rhode Island show Coleman is ...,” instead of out of Delaware.

To the best of my knowledge, he is not facing any charges in Delaware at this time. He does face “charges in Providence of kidnapping, refusal to report a death with intent to conceal a crime and mutilation of a dead human body.”
Man suspected of kidnapping 23-year-old Jassy Correia facing federal charges

But during the press conference yesterday, the federal prosecutor said that the body had not been dismembered or mutilated, so I will try to find out what the state statute says. Also, now that he has been charged at the federal level, the state prosecutor may dismiss those three charges, IMO.

I was able to find some information on the federal case on the website of the US District Court for Massachusetts:

After reading all that, I'm so glad he didn't make it to wherever he was headed. I'm sure that monster would've been caught but I'm not sure Jassy would ever have come home if they hadn't caught him when they did....

So disgusted, so sorry for Jassy's children and the rest of her family.

What makes a seemingly normal person turn into a monster? If he HAS done this kind of thing before, this was thankfully his last.

I just realized he had her for 4 days. Do we know if he went to work those days?

I haven't seen any replies from his employer. They basically refuse to comment. If I had to guess, based again on having known several ppl.who had that exact job, he probably worked from home those days.

“Five things to know about the kidnapping case against Louis Coleman”

1] Death penalty -- Federal prosecutors in Boston have charged Coleman with kidnapping resulting in death — a count that carries a mandatory life sentence upon conviction and possibly the death penalty, should the government seek to pursue it, according to authorities.

[SBM]

Should they elect to do so, US Attorney General William P. Barr must authorize the decision.

2] Initial encounter -- Court records show that surveillance footage captured Correia on Tremont Street near Venu, the club she had gone to, around 2:14 a.m. on Feb. 24, interacting with several people. Boston clubs close at 2 a.m. on the weekends, and the period immediately after closing is known as the ‘let out,’ when club-goers often congregate on the street before leaving the area.

[SBM]
3] The gap
[SBM]

A drive from Boston to Providence in the predawn hours can normally be made in well under 60 minutes. The government hasn’t accounted for Coleman and Correia’s whereabouts between 2:15 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. or said where Correia died.

4] Cause of death -- US Attorney Andew E. Lelling said Sunday that Correia appears to have died from strangulation and blunt force trauma, and that she did not show signs of sexual assault.

[SBM]
5] Items in Coleman’s car -- Delaware State Police stopped Coleman on Feb. 28 and discovered Correia’s body in a suitcase in the trunk of his sedan, which was registered to his mother in California.

“Louis Coleman Extradited to Boston for Future Court Hearings in Fatal Kidnapping”

“[SBM]

Appearing Monday before a federal magistrate in Delaware, 32-year-old Louis D. Coleman III of Providence, Rhode Island, waived his right to a hearing and did not contest a prosecution request that he be detained pending removal to Massachusetts.

A spokeswoman for the Delaware Department of Correction later confirmed that Coleman had been extradited.

[SBM]

‘The federal charges are being brought because of the multi-state nature of the crime and the penalties available in federal court,’ said U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Andrew Lelling. ‘And they're being brought here because Ms. Correia is from here, was taken from here, and justice should be done here if at all possible.’

[SBM]

While no murder charge was announced Sunday, Lelling said, ‘I think there is probable cause to believe he [Coleman] killed Ms. Correia.’

A number of new details were revealed about the case on Sunday, with Lelling announcing that it appears preliminarily that Correia died from blunt force trauma and strangulation. Lelling added that while only a preliminary medical examination has been done at this point, it does not appear Correia was sexually assaulted.

[SBM]

Lelling said reports that Correia's body was mutilated or dismembered are not correct.

Louis Coleman Extradited to Boston for Future Court Hearings in Fatal Kidnapping

ETA:
“At Sunday's news conference United States Attorney Andrew Lelling said the victim had significant bruising, a bloodied face, was bound with gray duct tape and was covered in what is believed to be baking soda.

Some press outlets have reported that the body was mutilated, dismembered, that is not true. Though other items in the car did include, a duffle bag, a new pair of handled loppers, the heavy tool used to cut down thick branches, a new pair of pliers, garbage bags, a new gas canister, a butane lighter, safety glasses, work towels, and work gloves, and disinfectant wipes,’ Lelling said.” (BBM)

I'm now thoroughly confused by this case.

I lived in Boston for decades. The 2am "last call" hook up scene has always been a thing. (Not MY thing, but I remember watching it with friends, & giggling as a young person.) I was almost certain they had danced or talked earlier, and reconnected when the club closed.

Was thinking a hookup gone wrong. Now?????

This is now truly bizarre. Apparently, (thankfully) didn't rape her. Did he intend to, but she fought so hard he accidentally killed her before he could so?

If he wanted to kill someone, this seems sloppy, and a lot of trouble. Cameras everywhere. The club took and scanned his Driver's license. He had to know his building had cameras, so why on earth would be bring a body home? Other than panic? Or being truly off his rocker?

Also? Wasn't Jassy described as wearing an orange pantsuit? Pantsuit are typically one piece. I saw a photo and the top part of hers looked like a halter. So.....how was her "shirt" removed? And why?

Correction:

Coleman is indeed facing a charge in DE:

Coleman appeared in Justice of the Peace Court 11 in New Castle, Delaware, for arraignment as a fugitive from another state, court records show.

He was also formally charged in Rhode Island, although officials at the time said it was unknown when he would be brought back to appear in court there.“ (BBM)

Is it possible they knew each other in some way? Maybe seen each other in this or another club before? I know lots of people my friends and family aren't aware I know.

(And I guess I dreamed she had 2 children)?

Maybe her outfit just appeared to be one piece?

So many ?

I’m still so baffled by this case. No COD released yet that I saw? He kept her in the apartment for 4 days. He was (presumably) going to dispose of her body in a particularly heinous way... but it wasn’t premeditated? So so so weird.

I agree. I’m not sure what to think anymore. He might as well have ran around with a blinking sign telling LE he was guilty. All the cameras... Idk if we’ll ever know what he was thinking.

The fact that he dragged her down the hall at just before 5am totally freaks me out! I have taken my dog out at that time of morning for years. I shudder to think what he would have done had a single woman come down the hall to take her small dog out. I’ll be holding my taser extra tight for a while...
WHAT was he thinking doing that?!

I think her friend described it as a jumpsuit. I’ve wondered the same thing. All I can think is maybe he ripped the top part during their apparent struggle. jmo
