Is the other female at the defense table the juror from the first trial that they added to their payroll?
No, that is Ms Little from Alan Jackson's office. She is in charge of all the evidence keeping.

This arrangement of testimony's by CW's witnesses is crazy !

We go from Nuttall the paramedic, to Kerry Roberts the driver and witness, to Peggy O'Keefe grieving mother, to now the Celibrite phone dude ( To state Jen McCabe never made the 2:27 am search " Hos long to die in the cold". ??????

sprinkled between the witnesses are 10 second media clips of KR speaking ( Taken completely out of context )

The defense is puzzled...as am I

Where's the beef? Brennan?
Wonder if the jury is confused or maybe that is by design

The juror turned defense attorney is sitting in another area in the courtroom so she has a better view of the jurors. It would be awkward to be looking intently at the jurors to gauge reactions from the defense table.

ETA: you can see her during the opening statements. She was wearing a black headband.

Possible Bombshell mistake from Brennan this morning. Shout out to Nurse Kim on Tiktok for finding this. Brennan introduced a video this morning that had not previously been introduced. The video is Canton Police putting Karen in the back of a police cruiser. Don't understand why he would show this video because the video is time stamped 6:26:25 AM.

Jen McCabe testified in the first trial that the time stamp on her "hos long to die" is incorrect at 2:27 AM. She also states that the other two time stamps for the searches are correct at 6:23 and 6:24 AM. She stated in her testimony that her, Kerry Roberts and Karen were sitting in the back of the Cruiser and KAREN asked her to Google it. Now with this new video introduced this morning, it appears the search was made before they were ever in the back of the cruiser. So does this mean she searched it on her own, and Karen didn't ask? This, along with Kerry Roberts getting caught lying to the grand jury about the exact same Google search, telling them that she heard Karen ask, when in fact she did not, could be a huge angle for the defense.

Wasn't that intense little discussion with Kerry R. earlier today/trial, about her saying she never heard that asked at all, earlier trial, she said she DID hear it asked by Karen?

She testified to the Grand Jury that she did hear it. Today, she stated that she never did actually hear Karen say it, and Jen McCabe is the one who told her it happened. She is saying that she must have misunderstood the question at the Grand Jury because she would never lie.

This witness is trying to be difficult and not answer the questions being asked. It is not a good look for him to have. I would not want him to assist me in an emergency after hearing his answers. He does not sound intelligent at all....JMOO

Good Afternoon,
I need your help with this case. I only know the bare outline.
Can someone please tell me what evidence the prosecution has other than Karen's words and a broken tail-light that shows she hit John with her car? Post as bullet points would be great.
I'm trying to understand the strengths of the prosecution's case.
If someone could post the strengths of the defense's case, I would appreciate that too.
Honestly, I avoided doing deep dives into this case because of all the Internet drama. It makes my head hurt. Plus, I have found that in cases with a lot of Internet drama, the facts tend to get lost.
From what I have read I am surprised the prosecution decided to retry Karen after the mistrial. That's why I need to find out what they have that I am missing.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
Tricia
PS. We will be discussing the case tonight on Websleuths YouTube Live. I'll post the link when it is available on YouTube
The CW’s case against KR in the death of Officer John O’Keefe (JOK):

  • No canine DNA found on JOK’s body. Pig DNA was uncovered (could have been from the Stop and Shop bag).
  • Pieces of red and clear plastic found at the crime scene are consistent with the broken passenger side taillight of KR’s SUV.
  • Microscopic pieces of red and clear plastic recovered from JOK’s clothing, lab tested are consistent w/broken taillight pieces from KR’s SUV.
  • JOK’s hair found on rear bumper of KR’s SUV.
  • JOK’s arm injuries are abrasions.
  • A cocktail glass and red plastic piece protruding from the snow nearby John’s body, consistent plastic from KR’s taillight.
  • DNA evidence- JOK DNA found on the broken taillight of Read’s SUV.
  • DNA evidence from JOK’s hair found on Read’s SUV.
  • First trial: Medical Examiner and assistant both doctors Scordi Bello and Stonebridge were clear there was no altercation. Injuries did not appear to be from a fight. Blood can seep into the eyes from a fracture to the back of the head. JOK had acute traumatic injuries due to some type of trauma. She says it was something that caused a lot of force. Lally: Can it be consistent with being struck by a vehicle and going to the ground? RS: It can be.
  • JOK had “raccoon eyes", medical term periorbital ecchymosis.
  • First trial: Proven that JMc did not make Google search at 2:27 am. It was made at 6:23 am and 6:24 am at the request of KR. Two top experts in their fields testified for the Commonwealth in the agreed that the search happened in the 6 a.m. hour, not at 2:27 a.m.

I may have missed somethings, but these are what I recall at this time.

As far as for the defense, their "defense" changed from conspiracy (first trial) to I am not sure what now. The opening statement came across to me as story more than about facts. We shall see.

In addition, it's understandable why the facts get lost. So much misinformation is out there, theres a Turtleboy, YouTubers, law tubers, etc. making money off of this story, unfortunately. moo

Not intentionally.

Whether or not the recollections of Roberts and McCabe are word-for-word accurate, Read's frantic behavior that morning - if all she knew was JO hadn't yet returned home from the afterparty - has never made sense.

It's so crazy to me that AJ pressed Kerry so hard about the inconsistency on when she inspected the tail light with Karen and Jen - only for Karen to then admit it all in the Voss video

Whomever allowed her to do these videos should be shot at dawn.

I would agree. The interviews. The HBO series they all participated in. Hard to understand who thought those were good ideas.

If my wife didn't come home from a night out, I'd be out of my fricken mind. If I found her unconscious in the snow, I'd lose my mind. I guess I must've killed her...

You all are amazing. This is very helpful. I'm trying to figure out the case players now.
Is there a list of who is who in this case I can refer to?
Thanks again.

There are several inaccuracies and things left out in your statements.
1) pig DNA. Firstly, many commercial brands of dog food contain pork.
Secondly, the forensic scientist who tested the swabs did not ever see John’s shirt, or test it directly. She was given swabs and had to trust they were from the areas of the shirt that the police said they were.
2) ‘Hos long’ claim - this point his highly contentious. Cellbrite didn’t testify based on Google server side logs, which are unable to be altered or changed by the user. They testified based on Jen’s local phone data. Google server side logs (provided by subpoena) show that the search DID happen at 2:27 AM. The CW is trying to intentionally conflate the second search that Jen unintentionally ‘made’ when she re-opened safari with the actual, unalterable, Google logs, which clearly show that the search happened at 2:27.

Defense's constant repetition of prior testimony concerning KR speaking about hitting the victim will come at a real cost.
moo

Just wow!

This why I go back and forth with Guilty or not Guilty. Then why is everyone Lying, and throwing phones away, and covering up?? Just tell the truth

This trial has such a different vibe compaired to tge first one.

What should they do? Not bring up the fact that witness is either lying now or was lying last time since they are different testimonies? JMO

One more thing I missed - ONE single strand of hair of JOK was found on the outside of KR’s vehicle. One hair is not compelling proof of impact. And I can’t find anything that said it had a root - which would indicate being plucked during a violent act. It was a natural shed. He could have leaned on the bumper of the car for a moment outside of the bar, for all we know. It’s definitely not a smoking gun.

ETA source on the single hair: Karen Read trial: Key updates, evidence from every day of testimony
