Read’s team tried to poke holes in Burgess’s credibility, accusing the analyst of misleading clients about his academic credentials.
Poke holes in credibility, 17 years to not get a degree, claiming a degree that doesn't exist, claiming to complete a degree that he hasn't finished, mistaking bits and bytes ( I would have asked does he know what a nibble or a word is!)

I did not think it could get much worse for the cw - boy was I wrong- rock bottom - its your damn expert Brennan - how do you rehab this?
Are you gonna to scream at him "Did you know when you wrote that report that Jen McCabe said KR said "I hit him I hit him"?
And Brennan told the court that this expert needed to revise bc of an error in a report given to them by the defense - Has Brennan not met Alessi - Brennan did not think this would all come out ?
I would ask that they let the guy off the stand - I'm actually worried about his mental health after this
episode with thousands watching - how is he going to make a living?

You know, I think they need a trauma counselor for the prosecution witnesses. And..... I don't know if I'm joking or being serious. 🫣

There is no degree program for ‘bachelor of General studies and Mathematics in business administration’ at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

He says it should be Bachelor's of General Studies with a MINOR in mathematics and business administration. Doesn’t have the BS or the minors at this moment.
And he didn't even portray his fake degree properly on his LinkedIn profile. How lazy!

"I understand online combatants and trolls who hate Karen Read look for anything to spin. But there is not one experienced lawyer who actually tries cases who would tell you the take away so far (in an unfinished cross) is the failure to dispute the accuracy of the expert's opinion. Any experienced lawyer would tell you that the take away is that the "expert" has engaged in pervasive academic credentials fraud (in addition to "pursuing" a college degree for 17 years), all of which is a headshot to his credibility as an expert. A take like this would have much more weight if the "anonymous lawyer" would put his name on it."

I'm really curious how Brennan envisioned today would go with Burgess. He obviously knew he had education issues because he skipped right on over it this morning. The errors and misinterpretations just keep coming. One after another. Alessi is brilliant. Love watching him completely destroy this witness.

I actually felt bad for Trooper Paul.
I don't have much sympathy for Burgess.
He chose to lie and ran with it, for money, for fame, who knows. But that was his choice.
This is FAFO in real time.
IMO.
He cut corners and was lazy. Imagine working on his degree for 17 years!

IMO CW has presented a fraudulent expert in the court today. This guy is a fraud, there is no other way to describe it. He submitted fake credentials on his CV and using these fake credentials got hired by a company as a forensic analyst. He said today that he testified many times in state courts for both prosecution and defense in both criminal and civil cases. This is truly incomprehensible. He should have a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 storm coming down on his head starting any time now. And I sure hope that he doesn't have a job after his testimony today.

Interesting also to me was the fact that Hank Brennan did not ask him about his degrees, only about his certificates and job history. That's weird. Don't expert witnesses usually provide their complete post secondary education? The witness right before this clown was asked about his school, university degrees etc.

So why Hank Brennan did not ask this guy about his university degrees? Did Brennan know something??

A good moment today also was when Alessi asked Burgess if he received LinkedIn notifications when his profile was being looked at. And whether he had noticed that Defence had looked at it 72 hours ago.

He said no, but during the course of the weekend, the profile was modified. Good job that they took screenshots

Burgess confirms he doesn't have a bachelor's degree, though his CV says he does

By

Alessi showed Burgess several versions of his CV (curriculum vitae, like a resume but with more detail) that show he has not earned a bachelor's degree — Burgess confirmed he doesn't, saying he's "currently pursuing" one.

But his profile page on the Aperture website showed that he does have a bachelor's in mathematics and business administration — NBC10 Boston confirmed that on their website.

"There is no qualification that says 'currently pending,'" Alessi asks.

The lawyers questions moved to Burgess' LinkedIn page — the link to it on his Aperture page no longer worked as of Monday afternoon, and Alessi said in court that it was down, though Burgess testified that he didn't take it down.

Shown a screenshot of his LinkedIn, Burgess confirmed that the college degree listing was "not correct." He clarified that what he listed was an "expected graduation date."

"Obviously that has not been updated in quite some time," Burgess said.

Shanon is the sort of expert witness I normally expect from a desperate defense for a client who is very probably guilty. If the CW approached any expert who was actually qualified to provide the kind of expert opinion in his field they need to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt - they'd probably tell them to screw off!

And this tarnishes insurance companies....they hire these "experts" to deny coverage. Really looks bad for corporate america.

This one case making history.

So, The Burgess Effect?

He’ll be famous!
