Test A was 10mph

Test B is 17mph - more damage to the tail light. The tail light came off the bond they used on the impactor. Interior diffusers are intact.

They don't say that. They say she was reversing at 23 mph before the impact, and there is no way of knowing how fast she was going at the moment of impact, it could have happened at a different speed after that 5 second window of data stored in the black box.

So he just picked a random speed and that's supposed to prove what?

Test B 17 mph test

about 4 pieces of tail light

No defects, no punctures or holes in sweatshirt.

The damage to the tail light, and damage to the sweatshirt is inconsistent.

I was unclear on that - do we know how much the FBI paid?

Wait, what?
The CW has always claimed that KR reversed at 23ish mph and hit him.
Now this claim of it could have been less than that speed that they've hung their case on?
Holy moving the goalposts, Batman.
IMO.

Here is the evidence:
Devers made a statement to the FBI that implicated multiple officers
Devers later testified that her statement was due to a false memory.

Only one of these can be true.

As an impartial observer, which is a more common and likely event:
A police officer covering for another police officer/police department
A police officer having “false memories” that caused her to create a whole imaginary scenario and report it to the fbi.

And if an impartial observer saw that this police officer is not only still on the job, but has been rewarded with a raise, is it more likely she was rewarded even though she can’t differentiate fantasy from reality? Or because she covered up police misconduct?
Jmo.
I do not 100% understand this line of reasoning because the Boston and Canton PDs are two totally separate employers. I see her as a person who, whatever happened to her in Canton, left. She wanted out of that Dept. I also imagine (?) that the Boston salaries are much higher overall.

BBM. I’ve been wondering if John would have stood there waiting to be hit by KR’s car. If she’s backing up to hit him at 24mph with her foot 75% down on the petal, I’m thinking her engine is going to make a lot of noise. He’d definitely hear that. Even as drunk as he was, I’m thinking he’d try to get out of the way…….moo
he had a very high BAC.

I don’t think so. I have never heard or seen a dollar number.
I am sure they are not cheap either so it would be interesting just to know.

I see,
It seems she changed jobs, was promoted, and that this may be because she covered up for cops by changing her testimony.

What of this is fact and what of this is people projecting their own speculations as to what happened, I haven’t a clue.
I have not read up on any of that part of this case other than comments I’ve seen here, so I don’t know.
I just watched Dever’s testimony Live and saw the reactions here. She isn’t a breath of sunshine, came across to me as a terrified young woman in a male dominated profession who has a chip on her shoulder.
Many of us have worked with women like that. Pretty ironic as I see them in theoretical mathematics, physics, engineering, and chemistry laboratory stuff behind the scenes.
Not unlike ARCCA, but with less attention.
Some don’t do well as instructors, can be difficult to work, are quite misunderstood.
That was how I saw Devers- until the reactions here.

IMO
A low level officer early in her career was called to a solo meeting with the police commissioner prior to taking the stand in a murder trial. At the center of this trial are allegations of investigator misconduct and planting of evidence, with third party culprits involving various members of law enforcement. She’s told by Cox to do the right thing. Dever then recants her statements and testifies she had false memories. She was combative and hostile on the stand. She was the epitome of the blue wall. IMO

Which actually requires even more distance for her to back up, so add more distance to the 87 feet.

Was BH's jeep parked there or not? Would she run into it or not? would she drive up on to the lawn or not?

No way of knowing that unless it was included in the original 3000+ page FBI release of documents that we don't have access to. JMOO

her time records in Canton did not support her statements.
who keeps her time records and how are they recorded? She did not recant because
she wanted to. The underlying time records made her original statements unsubstantiated.

Where are those time records? Do they exist? Seem they would have been admitted if they were available. JMOO

To be fair, Welcher said on the stand that he never said John was hit at 24mph
He went on to say he had no idea where John was standing -where the car was or how fast the car was going-
But he was totally certain  to a reasonable degree of scientific certainty with a double pinky swear that Karen hit John with her car.
