-She says no medical evidence that there was any impact from a vehicle
-She says the debris field is usally near the impact if there is any impact

It gets worse for Hank the longer he keeps going

FYI Brennan, light dusting of snow would have melted under John.

NO one measured where John's body was.

AND no one knows how long he was outside.

Sorry for the random question, but remind me...was John's phone found under his body, or in his pocket?

BOOM! Dr Russell just said flatly that there is NO WAY a tail light caused John’s injuries.

  • #205
Is Hank now suggesting that the wounds to John’s arm could have been caused by bushes??

Dr Russell just said she doesn’t believe John was hit by a vehicle. She says she looked at John’s wounds in their totality.
I caught that about the 'landscape' ... I have considered that myself... but only in the situation that he went over to that tree line to pee or vomit, lost his balance or something that happens to drunk people. all JMO

It was under his back, about his mid back on the right side. Kerry Roberts picked it up and gave it to… someone… she said she doesn’t know who or what agency/emergency medical service they were from.

This line of questioning... If I was Alessi, I would ask her questions about LE/tail light pieces being planted/witnesses lying, etc

Just wondering, and waiting for judge's exasperating sighs, and question to Brennan, re: " How much longer, Mr Brennan?"....

Funny, that it seems she only does that to the defense....IMO

Oh, so whoever put John's body on the lawn never took high school physics

Acute grief reaction... they ramble, they act bizarrley, blame themselves, I've seen this many, many times.

Karen Read thanks you for that information being put to the jury Brennan.

Dr Russell says she believes Karen was suffering from an Acute Grief Reaction. It often occurs after loss. She says people experiencing grief often make irrational statements and blame themselves, and that she’s seen it many times in the ER.

He literally walked her into providing a rational medical explanation for the alleged ‘I hit him’ comments LOL. I don’t think he knew how well she knows her stuff.

So now, the jury has heard that ‘I hit him’ is a magical statement that appears months later in Jen and Katie’s testimony. And they just heard ‘even if she DID say I hit him, it doesn’t actually mean she hit him’. Amazing.

A good follow up question by Brennan about if this grief reaction occurs immediately after the traumatic event and lasts for months/ year later when giving interviews to tv.
Dr Russell smiles and says she hasn't seen that.

I have to go do adulty things lol I will still be listening and will catch up after! I hope Brennan is just about done... or maybe not? The more he asks, the more she is clarifying some of the things that have happened in this case, and she has a vast background, which is actually quite unique, forensic pathology, former LE many years ago (I wonder if there was corruption in Mass. back then too?).

Fun Fact: I read in an article that she raised her niece and nephew too.

She said she hasn’t seen the situation pertaining to a Dateline or 20/20 episode. She then said acute grief can last for years in some cases.

Which went along with what the ME testified to, she heard the statements and basically didn't take them for the "truth".

Huge win for the defense, him getting her to “diagnose” KR that morning and justify her blaming herself.

The one thing the CW is missing, the one thing that would change my mind, is a SINGLE medical expert being able to testify that John was hit be a vehicle. But they don’t have it, because no one worth their salt will get up on the stand and say something so obviously preposterous. MOO

Brennan is much more effective when he isn’t behaving like he usually does but Dr. Russell is holding her own. He’s also allowing her to elaborate on yes or no answers which isn’t smart. She keeps explaining things rationally and coolly. She’s amazing!
