Remember 2 days ago AJ was allowed to impeach the credibility of Devers on the basis that the Police Commission told her to "do the right thing" - thus calling in to question whether her testimony might have been coerced.
..

IMO/MOO
When an ordinary person says to a witness, "Do the right thing", they mean, "Tell the truth."

When the Commissioner of the Boston Police Department calls in a rookie officer for a private meeting before testifying in the murder trial of a Boston cop and says, "Do the right thing" they don't mean truth-telling.

It’s a very strange interaction, especially when paired with BHs text a bit later to JOK asking “you coming here??”

ETA Also paired with JMc’s incessant text and calls to JOK that night.
I think the whole "you coming here" was a follow up to words/threats thrown back and forth at the bar. BH wanted to finish the "conversation" Jen busy body that she is couldn't keep her nose out of it

I both loved and appreciated the testimony of KK. She was down-to-earth and appeared to just be a "regular" person (whatever that is). She also helped me to see KR in a different light. KR's text messages to BH left me frustrated. I was wondering why she was flirting with fire in the first place and felt that she was just a "player". That does NOT, however, make her a murderer. KK is so "girl-next-door" and talked about her like of KR, which is the entire reason she stayed at the bar-- to talk to Karen. I should not judge so prematurely.

If I were on the jury, I would push for an acquittal. IMO.

A new court filing by Karen Read’s defense team could indicate she will not testify in her retrial for the January 2022 death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, as questions swirl about whether she will take the stand in the case’s waning days.
Dear CNN, I assure you, questions are not "swirling" among those who are actually following the trial.

Right at the end of court today, I believe Elizabeth Little from the D tried to bring up a motion that was outstanding and before she was finished with her inquiry the Judge said DENIED. It's denied. So dismissive.
Does anybody know what motion that was that JBC denied ?
JMo
I saw that. I don't know what the motion was but the Judge was almost gleeful with her It's DENIED. The look on her face as she said it too, it's worth watching.

I totally agree, KK humanized Karen. She also said that Karen didn’t seem intoxicated, which was helpful to the defense. IMO, it’s odd that JMc wouldn’t have invited KK and her husband back to 34 Fairview. Why would that be? If you’re all leaving at approximately the same time, why wouldn’t everyone in the group be invited? I’m chewing on that for a bit.

I’m also thinking a lot about Barros’ testimony. If I believe my eyes (and Barros’ testimony) the taillight was not smashed into 47 pieces when she allegedly backed into John so WHEN was it smashed, by WHOM, and HOW did it get to 34 Fairview?

One of my relatives is retired FBI/ATF/HSI and his experience is that a conspiracy with so many people is hard to maintain. That makes complete sense to me, but Barros’ testimony has me wondering if there really is a conspiracy? I’m not sure how else to explain the difference in her taillight from the time it left her custody to the time they took pics in the sally port.

As to whether some find her unlikable…I wonder if it’s due to a so-called ‘class’ difference. Karen is very well-educated, a wealthy and self-made woman. After living in New England for many decades, I’ve noticed a “you think you’re better than me?” attitude among some blue collar types when interacting with women/men of Karen’s ilk. *
The pictures of her from before this tragedy show a radiantly lovely person with flawless skin, beautiful teeth, wonderful wardrobe….There was possibly a certain amount of envy going on when someone from within the tight friend group became the girlfriend of the handsome, eligible bachelor John.

*And, in fairness, I’ve noticed this sentiment in reverse from white-collar types.
Love this, spot on for sure! (imo)

Was that the motion for reconsideration of Michael Easter’s testimony? I know it was denied, just not sure when that happened today

Lucky spoke to the PI long before this and his story is consistent.
This yada yada by TB as resurrected by Brennan is just a distraction
And TB is just a distraction too at this point
its just another one of Brennans attempts to muddy the waters.
Its the same old thing with each defense witness on cross
He has a pattern/formula
He cannot attack the actual testimony
So he makes chaos
"So if you said X before you are now changing your story? "
Seventy percent ish of the time his X is a big fat lie like what he did to Dr Russell about the autopsy report. He had to recant and say she did not say that.

And, did you even listen to Lucky ?
This was happening when his wife died - he was not online looking for what people were saying.

I have seen things on twitter calling Lucky a snitch and a rat, pictures etc even just this weekend. So looks like there is plenty of flavor out there. Its a cess pool.

Thankfully Lucky does not over react, even if Mr Brennan would like him to.

JMO

Lucky said he had friends telling him what was being said online... I do wonder if he told his friends that he had already spoken to the PI and FBI?

I do think that he would want to keep that quiet before the first trial. He and his family grew up with the Alberts, that may not have been easy for him to do IMO. LOTS of things being said online and it flies both ways, I really have to weed through it to find good information sometimes IMO ;)

Not sure about this.

For what it's worth, I I know someone who has worked with the commissioner in the past and says he'd never push anyone on staff to lie. If that's the case, "do the right thing" really does mean "tell the truth".

She's apparently connected to more Canton players here than just Sara Levenson. And she doesn't come off as very bright. Quite the opposite. She may have backtracked from her original story for reasons that have nothing to do with the Boston PD.

The Boston PD has been completely silent about the case against Read from the beginning. Which is unusual when you consider the murder victim here was a member of the force.

She did correct what she said after realizing she left work hours before the Lexus was brought in and that time frame has not been disputed by the defense. Why, if that information was incorrect?
Didn’t she say she was there when it arrived….she saw it and the 2 spending a wildly long time with it?? Then changed to say that she left hours before, so saw none of that? Am I dreaming?

I finally caught up today. A couple of my notes!

Lucky was compelling to me, as I found him in T1. Even when Hank mistakenly said Lucky drove a tow truck instead of a snowplow, Lucky didn’t get flustered or defensive. He just calmly corrected him: “I don’t want to be rude, but I don’t drive a tow truck.” That’s what an unbiased witness looks like IMO. Some of these witnesses (looking at you, Devers) could learn a thing or two from him about how to handle being on the stand. Hank was ridiculous trying to act as though the Read team threatened him… his testimony along with Barros’ is very compelling together. Minimal tail light damage, no body in the snow.

Karina Kolakithis was interesting to me. I did think we’d hear more from her. But she says it was strange that Jen McCabe put her arm around Karen Read and said "you're coming with me" at the Waterfall Bar. I do believe the Fairview goal was to ‘expose’ Karen and Brian’s texting relationship to John. She also said that John and Karen were affectionate with each other at Waterfall, and she saw Higgins gesturing. She also said she assumed Karen was drinking, but that she didn’t seem drunk. <modsnip - no link>

All MOO

I wish she would be more clear about WHY things are allowed/denied.

Watching LYK... he is pointing out that Brennan with the blogger/threat testimony... first, is a distraction that probably never should have not been allowed in, second, Brennan brought out that 'the blogger' has a large following.... that it makes the jurors more curious or aware about outside perception... and more.

I didn't even think of those things, the curiousity of the jury, hope none of them go looking 😯

I didn't catch it live, so I am behind on it.
