I appreciate you sharing your friends perspective on the Commish.

I will say, having spent many years on the immed periphery of the executive suites of many corporations ( direct report)- none of the top dogs are ever squeaky clean. It pains me to say it.
I hate to know it/ but there it is. So IME/IMO.

Every situation is different of course but its always about protecting the greater good of the corporation/ or in this case the shield all the while while keeping the appearance that your hands are clean.

If the commish felt he did not need to get involved and told her genuinely to tell the truth then
fine. I am wildly skeptical though bc then why the need for top guy to get involved and to call her in. The we support you message could have easily come from her boss. He could even say we have the support all the way to the top. It doesn't track for me.

But lets say thats the case :
It would seem that somebody is telling her the opposite bc she boldly and defiantly lied on the stand for all the world to see.
She's a Canton girl and probably drank with the LE guys in Canton after work and they helped her etc. so there's a loyalty. Maybe even "dated" a few. Has LE in her family? So maybe that's it. There is that thin blueline code - retract or ... she won't see it coming but they will ruin her, no cop will ever have her back , respond to her calls for back up etc. That certainly happens in life. Or she just wants to protect them?

She was such a mess up on that stand I am going with somebody made her believe her job depended on it. She, probably like all of us, needs the income - maybe she and the BF bought a house or whatever

In this case there is a seemingly desperate need to win - DA hires a special prosecutor. What's special about this case? ( Sure the deceased is a Boston cop) But Karen's not a danger to the community. There is not outrage and people protesting on the street for her conviction. Quite the opposite.

What's going on ? Why so much money being thrown at this case? Why this mockery of a trial that is being broadcast to the world ? For what reason ?

JMO
I agree with everything you’ve said except I imagine she has a gf IMO.

Hard to believe it will be over. I see no way she is convicted but my fear is 1 or 2 jurors will just want guilty no matter what and we will all go through this farce a 3rd time.

I wonder how long the State's rebuttal case will be. Probably pretty long.

Why wouldn't he come out of the house, he's a cop, he's a first responder. Didn't Albert not go to the funeral?

Is the defense going to call Higgins? I am a bit shocked they're not going to bring in the driving to work drunk when not scheduled, staying there a long time and eventually disposing of his cell phone on a military base.

Must be baffling to be a juror in this trial especially with all the references to the first trial, I'd be thinking, there must be a reason she wasn't convicted the first time

moo
Defence have put in a missing witness instruction request to the judge for Ex-Trooper Proctor, Brian Albert, Brian Higgins.

A "missing witness instruction" is a jury instruction that allows jurors to infer that an uncalled witness's testimony would have been unfavorable to the party that failed to call them. This instruction is typically used when a witness who could have been called to testify is not, and the absence cannot be explained by the party that failed to call them.

Each time through a trial favours the prosecution, as they get to tailor the case, avoid mistakes, get ahead of bad information.

Unless they are idiots, I don’t see how they would need an actual instruction on this issue. Just saying.

The 1st trial.. started with a timeline, changed part way through.
2nd trial.. not as drastic of a change of time, but still changed.

Seems seriously unfair to any defendant. IF the State didn't have a coherent theory or timeline, then don't bring charges yet. IMO

I bet Karen Read and her attorney's will be happy to have this trial over and done with! It's been too long with both trials and Karen looks very tired lately. She has even said she is more tired and I see it on her face.

TO me she has since that day court was cancelled.. worrisome. much. very different as you say, drained.. I put on the vid to see kaliothis.. i missed today but saw wonderful lucky. she was super.. super witness. none of these people after a night out thought it would end up being on the witness stand for them in such a terrible way. I saw her face of loss when speaking of how her daughter and johns were good friends and karen had told her how glad she was of that.. it was like an instant. IMO

I think it is wild there is no blood on JO's sleeve despite at least 9 puncture holes and at least 16 open and bloodied wounds. M00

It's rather intriguing why Hank Brennan has decided to focus on the "blogger" during cross with Mr. Plow Guy. There must be a rationale behind his inquiries regarding the alleged intimidation and coercion of this witness by a blogger. Is he attempting to drag "Turtle Boy" into the Karen Read trial?

If that’s the case, what kind of courtroom antics are unfolding before our eyes? This is not just an attack on Karen Read, it’s an outright mockery of justice itself. If the judge plays along with this absurdity, we’re not just talking about bias, we’re talking about a complete failure of the judicial system.
IMO

Agreed. If he thinks KR is innocent, it’s because he did NOT see a body on the lawn. It’s as simple as that. If OJO wasn’t lying in the snow then there’s no way KR hit him. Lucky having an opinion is different than the bartender having an opinion. The bartender didn’t drive a snowplow down the street in front of the lawn/house in question multiple times during the time the CW claims there was a body there that was hit & killed by KR earlier that night.

& Every witness called by the CW said no. There was no body on the lawn. But now the CW wants to insinuate lucky is lying because he spoke to a pro Karen blogger?

Lucky isn’t an expert called to testify. He isn’t a juror. He’s a resident of the area. He lives there. Knows the people. Didn’t want to trouble the Albert’s by calling to get the ford edge towed….

He’s just a guy from there testifying he did NOT see a body when and where there SHOULD HAVE BEEN one according to the CW’s case. He’s not BLIND. He SHOULD have an opinion when someone is trying to send a woman away for murder when it’s literally IMPOSSIBLE due to what his own eyes did and didn’t see that night. NO body. Just a Ford Edge during his subsequent pass….

I’m so angry right now.

So much of the phrase “do the right thing,” is being thrown around in this trial so let’s just hope the jury does the right thing and realizes the CW has not met their burden.
