The whole analysis provided by ARCAA is irrelevant and this is the problem with expert witnesses.

Dr. Wolf knows that the huge flaw in his testimony is that they don't know the position of Officer O'Keefe when he was hit, If his injuries were primarily due to contact with the car, or secondary to contact with the car (he fell and hit his head vs his head was crushed by the car), they don't know the condition of the tail light prior to it striking him (it may have already been broken). There are infinite degrees of freedom around each of those factors that they would need to get exactly right to understand what happened. In reality if the CW had hired ARCCA their story would be how easily they figured out how JO broke the tail light.

This is not how good scientists behave, it is how good witnesses make money.

The whole trial is such a waste, if Ms Read had plead guilty to a lesser charge she would already be out of Jail, if she served any time at all, and she would be millions of dollars richer.

I disagree, you don’t have to exhaustively know all the variables to be able to tell that something didn’t happen.
What you have to know are the probable ranges of each and test within those ranges. That is what Wolfe did.

The goal isn’t to show exactly what happened, the goal is to model as closely as is possible to show if an arm that weight moving at that speed creates a force large enough to shatter that acrylic taillight.
There are many different locations that are possible for him to have been- that would not make a dip of difference because of their forces are larger- and would be un phased.
A drop of water in a swimming pool doesn’t change the amount of chlorine necessary to keep it safe. Keep adding drops of rain and that changes- at some point a threshold is reached. The tests try to hit within that range- not hit all of the scenarios that are possible.

You can definitely figure that out with good modeling and math to enough degree of certainty that you could say- what the prosecutors is claiming didn’t happen.

She is a rookie, and stuck to the desk, she wants to do something more

Dever was a patrol officer for Canton PD. She worked the overnight shift on patrol, as she usually. She was asked to stay on for the day shift to cover the desk, and she showed her willingness to be part of the team by doing so. Her double shift ended at 3:45.

The time Dever left the parking lot was captured by Canton PD security cameras; the defense obtained other videos of the parking lot at Canton PD. They could have and most likely did obtain footage of Dever leaving. Why did the defense decide not to present the video footage that would confirm or contradict Dever's testimony. If it established Dever was at Canton PD when the Lexus arrived, they surely would have presented timestamped video to the jury. IMO,

Impressive find, in real life bites the skin would react and swell at every single one of those marks. In the images I had seen earlier there was much that wasn’t visible.

Clearly this looks like top and bottom jaw- which is what I had been looking to see.

The immediate screen after you hit search will be numerous images. You can clearly see similarities. Those parallel lines are EVERYWHERE and many appear on the body at the same distance from one another. For example, a set of 2 parallel lines 1/2 inch from one another will appear all over. They don’t appear at different distances. Sometimes they do but could be different teeth, claws, or two attempts next to one another, but for the most part the sets of parallel line wounds are repeated.

I now understand what Dr. Russell meant by common patterns. The wounds just have a look about them on all victims. A “look” i wouldn’t have expected until I saw them for myself.

It’s kind of like recognizing rashes. My son has chronic severe eczema. He’s on Dupixent now, thankfully! But for the first 7 years of his life i had people constantly ask me if it was burn wounds (when he was raw and sometimes had limbs wrapped up in gauze). When he was crusty and dry, people were afraid it was ringworms because the pattern can look similar. I also know immediately when he has impetigo/infection from scratching so much. There’s a tell tale pink orange to the scab and the wounds ooze a peach crust. I recognize impetigo around town on kids at the grocery store - usually on their mouths and nostrils because the nose harbors the bacteria. I always want to say - if your child doesn’t already have, he or she needs a prescription for mupirocin, but hold my tongue.

I find it suspicious that the video that is not missing from the camera at John's house is helpful to Karen. If law enforcement deleted videos as you intimate, why would they preserve Karen bumping his car, creating an alternate explanation for the broken taillight?

Since it was helpful to KR I find it suspicious too. Check the dates. It went missing while it was in LE custody.

Thank God her Dad had a ring camera. Trooper Bukhenik had to testify that they didnt know that.

What testimony was given that videos were provided to defense. Or any news article that proves this.

If you increase the speed, you can lower the weight and the force is the same.
It is math, Newton’s 2nd law.
Force = mass x acceleration

An interesting relatable test would have been going faster with a lighter object and show how force is calculated.

Maybe a dummy of a bird hitting a headlight?
How many of us have hit a bird going hwy speed? Did our headlight break?

People hit birds on headlights often- our headlights don’t break.

If realistically is the criteria, would you hang around after a 16-hour shift? But realistically only goes to the weight someone gives to the evidence presented.

The defense has not disputed Dever's testimony that she left when her double shift ended. They could easily obtain footage from the parking lot at Canton Police Department to discredit her testimony as they did with Higgins.

The defense has known what Dever's testimony would be since at least April 2024. Plenty of time to obtain and review the security camera videos from Canton PD. The long lead time and the lack of evidence presented to discredit her account leads me to believe the defense has seen the footage and it documents she left long before the Lexis arrived.

As for official statements from various police departments after her testimony, that's what I'd expect. The case is not being tried in the press. It's the evidence presented in front of the jury that matters. Jurors assess the veracity of witnesses. They don't have to like a witness when there is no evidence before them that she lied in court.

They may disregard the testimony as it was irrelevant to the case. They may however come away trusting the defense a little less, JMO.

The FBI have not brought any charges of lying to their agents against Officer Dever to date, so I can only surmise the FBI was satisfied there was no intentional lying and only mistaken memory involved, MO.

Or they just don't think it's worth it to charge someone with perjury.

Dever herself referred to it as overtime Imo and pushed back against describing her time at the CPD dispatch beginning at about 6am on 29th Jan as a shift. Jmo

LOL, I noticed that too. It isn’t sexy but is pretty common for people who work in labs.
They want a material that is inert, and also somethign that if they mess it up they can throw it away.

I’ve seen woman wear those, most of the women I know just take their rings off in the lab.
