Laina says she believes her mother was a victim of foul play and that members of her own family know more about what happened than they are saying.

Laina says two years before Sandra’s disappearance, her father died. He left behind a substantial estate which included up to a million dollars in gold bars.

Laina says she grew more concerned when she learned that neighbors heard a loud argument the night Sandra disappeared.

“I believe that somebody thought she had gold, and I think she was targeted, and I don’t think they got anything,” Laina said.

I can’t believe it’s been 5 years!

Can anyone help explain the grand jury information? I was under the impression that this was a missing person case and not a criminal case, so how is there a grand jury called?

I saw that yesterday on New England Missing. The daughter of Sandra says that a family member is responsible for the disappearance of her Mother and it is due to a inheritance that was left by Sandra's Father. Also there are one million dollars worth of gold bars missing of her Fathers. It is believed that the family member who killed her was because they thought Sandra had that gold which according to her daughter Laina her Mom never had the gold bars. It also says they expected an arrest but so far no arrests have been made.
I feel like they need more to make an arrest and conviction. Whoever did this can only be tried once so law enforcement needs their ducks in a row and have enough to get a conviction. Waiting is so hard for the family it must be pure hell.

there are one million dollars worth of gold bars missing

Did she say more about the gold bars?

If the motive was gold bars, why not break in and search for them when Sandra wasn't there? Why the desire to commit murder?

Is the theory that the killer eventually found the gold elsewhere? And how would they have eventually found them, if they didn't know where they were?

In literature there is a device called the unreliable narrator that is employed to great effect. Sandra Crispo's disappearance is real life, not fiction, but nevertheless I have wondered from pretty close to the beginning whether there was an unreliable narrator in this case, and maybe more than one. The fact that a grand jury heard evidence in this case tells me one thing I wanted to know.

er what appears to be a human skull was recovered in early March in woods off Route 3 in Plymouth.

Continues at link.

Further info from the link says the piece of the skull that was recovered was "small, discolored and jawless." Hoping that there is enough there to get a DNA profile. The recovery of teeth in the upper or lower jaw would have been an ideal situation.
