Well he's been charged but not found guilty so maybe technically they can't call it a murder, even though everyone suspects as much. His story is that they had a big fight over an extra marital affair and she jumped out the window.....of their third story workout room.....at 3am! Yup! Likely. I can find articles on it if you like.

It appears he's only charged with manslaughter. If they're only talking about first-degree murder, they'd be right.

Yes technically. Given the proximity though, I'd still want the police to rule out her knowing anything or even knowing that family.

Well, yeah, though it seems like quite a jump from a violent fight that got out of hand to a deliberate and especially nasty murder. But it's possible.

It also wouldn't surprise me if there are some people in the area who have some pretty heinous incidents in their youth covered up by wealthy parents, too.

Yes that's possible too. I don't really think the dentist case has anything to do with it, but if I were the police crossing my t's and dotting my i's .... I'd at least want to check. That dentist strikes me as an old man who once was the kid who had parents cover up all his deeds too, and has continued to do it with his wife's case...but still. I do think it's more likely that it's a peer and its someone she knew from growing up in the relative area....like maybe the kid involved in the wrong way crash 36 hours after her murder, who was the same age and from the next town over.

From seeing an arial view of the crime scene area on the Dr Drew show, the perp has got to be a local and very familiar with the area.

Is there a pointer to the interview with her dad that some of you are referencing?

Here's one (though it looks like this source is pulling from an interview with the Boston Globe):

"He last saw his 27-year-old daughter — whose body was found naked and charred in the woods of Princeton, Mass. — at dinner Saturday, he said tearfully.

'I went to eat with her at the Chop House Saturday night. After that, the next day, she was dead,' he said before weeping."

I couldn't find it on the Globe's site. I'll go look again.

Okay, found it: https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2...n-great-kid/mUTVnnhtLndONFAtwYld2H/story.html

This is hopeful:

"Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said Tuesday that police have received hundreds of tips from an anonymous hotline set up in hopes of solving the murder of Vanessa Marcotte, a 27-year-old Boston University graduate whose body was found in the woods Sunday after she went for an afternoon run.

'I can’t overemphasize that the tips that are coming in have provided us with a lot of good information,' Early said at an afternoon news conference in this small Central Massachusetts town."

Other than that, there isn't much new info in the article. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2...ory.html?p1=Article_Recommended_ReadMore_Pos1

Criminal Watch Dog, a website that maps potentially dangerous sex offenders in your neighborhood, shows 29 sex offenders within a 10 mile radius and 1 within 5 miles of the crime scene. That seems very high for a quiet town to me
Quite towns still have pervs and murderous people.

Alex Scesny is still in jail, right?

10 mile radius would also take into account parts of Holden, Rutland, and likely Sterling as well. Even 5 miles from the crime scene could put that offender in technically a different town. Also sex offenders have to register for a variety of offenses and most registered sex offenders do not pose a serious public risk. But they should all be checked none the less.

Two other areas I think the police should at least look into, are one I think they should see if there was any connection btw the 28yr old Rutland (a neighboring town to Princeton) man who died on the mass pike Monday nigh going the wrong way..

..and two I think they should also rule out the possibility that Vanessa knew the dentist accused of pushing his wife out of a 3rd story window in Dec 2011. The dentist and his wife lived basically around the corner from where Vanessa vanished. A few night before the wife's death they held a Xmas party were many town residents attended. As far as I know the husband is still due to stand trial....so I hope the police rule out any possibility that perhaps Vanessa knew something about that.

I agree with you that there are Level 1 type offenders that we probably don't have to worry about. However, level 2 and 3, would be my guess as a good choice to look at and there are a fair amount that live a short drive from where this crime scene is.

1- The rape and then the burning to cover up the crime makes me think we are possibly looking for someone who has been convicted in the past for rape and is trying to cover his tracks better this time around.
2- The isolation of where the crime happened makes me believe it is someone who lives near the crime scene or is very comfortable to it's location. I highly doubt there is any connection to the rape in NYC.

I also don't think the person driving the wrong way on the highway is involved. Sadly, here in Arizona, we have this happen often and it usually is a person under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

NG asked an interesting question tonight... Where are Vanessa' clothes and cell phone?

  • #113
I'm sure the person was under the influence. But we're it happened on the mass pike is about 45 minute from
The mans home town, which just happens to be next to Princeton (both small towns) and they happen to be the same age.

Also wrong way crashes are pretty rare around here.

It's fairly easy to get on a ramp the wrong way along Route 2 or I-495. I'm not sure how it's even possible to get on the Masspike driving the wrong way. Going the opposite way from what you intended, yeah. But to get into the oncoming lane, you'd have to cross the median somewhere.

The problem I have is that a person under extreme DUI would probably be too wasted to rape and then try to cover up their crime only to get on the highway going the wrong way to get caught. I am not saying it couldn't happen. i just doubt it. I believe we are looking for a very cold & calculated individual who probably has had experience in this before.

I will point out that neither rape nor burning to cover up the crime have been confirmed yet.

Agreed. Profiler on NG said, "there must have been some planning, as, it's not that easy to burn a naked person, they would've had to have an excelerant".

lol Tssiemer, I can agree with that. however IMO, DM did a fine job covering the Morgan Harrington/Hannah Graham murders. In the end, are any of the news outlets truly that reliable :)
