I was guessing that they think the perp left in a hurry because he left one of her shoes behind.

jmopinion
Or maybe the shoe went underneath the truck and he never saw it.

2007 Ford Focus light silver? mentioned in any of those sightings or has this driver been
ruled out??
I know, I have given this considerable thought as well. He was VM's age ( 27 ) and went to school in Leominster, where she grew up. I would imagine that LE had thoroughly investigated this and came up ended handed and chalked it up to a disorientation by the driver or a suicide. Perhaps just another tragedy for the area. I suppose there is the possibility LE is awaiting testing results. Tragedy that another family was/is suffering at the same time that the Marcotte family was/is in such grief.

I agree, doesn't make sense that he would take her clothes and other shoe and leave that shoe behind unless he left quickly was unaware he dropped the shoe or simply didn't have enough time to look for it because he panicked and left abruptly... but why wouldn't he ? He had just raped and murdered someone and if it was an intended rape that escalated into murder, he may have unnerved himself and wanted to escape.

The burn marks on the trees look like scars from a brush fire many moons ago. The trees are dead and the bark has fallen off long ago. The grass on the ground is not burned.

We are in the worst drought in decades here and fire danger is huge. A tiny spark there would have resulted in an inferno.

MOO

The first thing that struck out at me about this case was that it included the company Google. I'm not sure why but i just thought it was odd that the headlines read " google employee".

Has Google offered a reward to find her killer?

I'm not sure I have perspective on the scene because there are different shots at different angles and we don't know her positioning. But I would think if a previous fire caused those marks, there would be a pattern in the greater area of marks such as those and they would be a similar height and angle. I don't know if there are other images that provide that perspective? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying what's going on in the general area with other trees would be interesting to know. So far, it looks to me like a targeted burning/attempted burning of the victim, which suggests to me that the source of the fire would have to have been contained, as in a torch, as someone previously suggested.

I'm certainly no fire expert, but I live in CO and we have fires frequently, and they swiftly spread and cover a lot of ground, so this seems to be a burning that the perp was able to control.

Not to make light of the situation and I'm so glad that residents are being vigilant and calling in tips, but some of these calls...

2:05 p.m. Caller reports being “charged” by a raccoon in backyard, Beaman Rd.

7:07 a.m. Caller reports bat in his room, Swett Hill Rd.

12:53 p.m. Individuals requesting to file complaints against each other, regarding issue over pizza, Pratts Jct. Rd.

Sort of creepy about the repeated mentions of a guy in people's driveway trying to warn them about a coyote in the area? And what event would be happening around that time to where there'd be a stretch limo in a rural/suburban area?

My first attempt to post. Have read most of thread #1 & all of thread#2. My heart goes out to all affected by this horrible crime. I have been pretty obsessed with it, and asked myself why. It is that all in all Vanessa's day that Sunday was so so very low risk. Totally wholesome. (No one deserves to be victim of crime or of ultimate crime murder even if in high risk environment, obviously.) But when you think of this young lady visiting family members in a scenic area familiar to her, taking a stroll or jog on a sunny Sunday afternoon, it just breaks your heart. I am very impatient for the case to be solved, but of course that is unrealistic. We have so very little factual information at this point. I do feel confident in what LE is doing. I also felt frustration at the calls to police about racoons and bats at this time when they are working long hard hours on this most serious case. Reading everyone's posts helps me to cope with the frustration and abject dismay at human evil.

http://www.masslive.com/news/worcester/index.ssf/2016/08/vanessa_marcottes_tweet.html

"It was two days after the abduction and murder of Amy Lord in Dorchester when Vanessa Marcotte tweeted what only now seems eerily foreboding.

'Girls in Boston go to this! Southie Studio Offers Free Self Defense Classes in Wake of Lord's death,' she tweeted.

The link was to a Bostinno story on classes women could take to learn to defend themselves from attackers.....

Three years later, on Sunday, Aug. 7, sometime between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m., Marcotte was herself the victim of a vicious attack."

Rapist and first time murderer? sounds plausible..

if they haven't, i wish they would..could be just what this case needs to resolve quickly.

When I read that yesterday, after I cried I called my daughter and asked her to please be careful. She lives in Boston too. This case hits way too close to home on so many levels.

IMHO that guy will be checked out thoroughly because it could be an attempt to lure people away from the safety of their homes. thats the sort of thing we are looking for in those logs. great catch!

Welcome to WS!

Sorry about that. <modsnip>.
<modsnip> No one is trying to be arrogant or mean. I seem to have managed to break every rule in the book as a newbie, so don't feel bad. I had trouble finding some of the rules even (yes, I'm that thick in the head sometimes). Best practice is to go to the links people are providing and have a read. the mods are great here and will help you understand stuff, if needed. That's what I had to do finally. lol. I still have questions and make mistakes, Not trying to preach, but rather to encourage. You're doing great!

I hope you can link some great stuff on your idea for us soon!
