All true, and without a wi-fi signal, the location could be off for a lot more than 300 ft.

we can test all of this pretty easily the next time I am in that area I am going to try to see where my phone locates when I am at that site i'm not sure when I will be able to get back over there but when I do I will test this and let you know

Either direction if he goes 62 or north toward Westminstern on Mnt road he has a stop sign.

My point was he wouldn't loop around to avoid a stop sign he'd face either way of that was his intended direction.

Going south on BSR and looping north though not as durect also isn't so far out of the way we can rule it out.

It's also possible he fled south on BSR and wasn't even sure where he was headed, then realized the phone was there and looped past the Mnt Barn. Or perhaps he's from town and decided to go to his parents house rather then back to his own house and so he changed directions...

im just not sure we can really tell his direction from this information unfortuanltey.
True, I forgot about the flashing red on Rt 31, going north.

On a related note we know from her former mapMyRun data that GPS and Wi-Fi work with good accuracy in this area as her running routes are clearly indicated on the maps and follow the roads precisely granted this program has multiple data points to work with and can resolve anomalous erroneous data a resolution that might not be possible when talking about only one data point

I was literally just thinking we can figure out god accuracy there pretty accurate can't we enlighten people are in the area. And then I read this.

Ok so we add all this together then if the ping came from the Mnt Barn or that parking lot and we assume that's the time it gets turned off.

It seems to indicate she was with it then and the murder occurred then OR he had it with him when he fled?

Is it possible she wasn't killed till 225? Perhaps this is an angle we haven't explored enough.

Is it possible for LE to obtain the cell phone info from any and all phones that were located and turned on in that small crime scene area during the time +- around noon ?

Media report based on what LE said I believe in November.

Oh okay, thanks. I came to this fairly recently, and only saw the report on the family website, which says
Prosecutors said in a statement that the SUV was “seen around the time of the murder near where [Marcotte’s] body was found,” near her mother’s home on Brooks Station Road, on the evening of Aug. 7.

What are you guys all talking about? It's cut and dry. Find my iphone app ONLY WORKS WHEN PHONE IS POWERED ON. I don't know why you all seem so adamant that I'm incorrect. This info is easily obtainable in a simple Google search. If the phone is powered off or the battery is dead, find my iPhone DOES NOT WORK.

GOOGLE IT!
Literally google this

"does find my iphone work if phone is turned off"

You are correct. My DDs iPad was taken from her condo while at Seaside, FL. She left it on the table when leaving. With the Find My tool, it was determined that her iPad was powered on the following day in Puerto Rico.

I can't seem to attach an image right now. But if you look up an arial view of mountain barn...you notice there is a big parking lot and a big one next door. There are also some homes across the street...some a bit more run down then most in town.

Depending on the ping accuracy could she have been in a vehicle in the parking lot? Or inside a house across the street?

Too bad you couldn't turn off your wi-fi assist and see how far the circle fans out from another phone.
Think she may have turned that off to maybe save data? Hard to know if she still used the Map My Run, right?

Ouch.

All LE needs to do is obtain a SW (search warrant) by convincing a Judge to sign off on one that would include a cellular tower dump for a particular time frame. For an unsolved murder, this would be expected. Does anyone know how to check for warrants filed within county records for this case?

Exactly, TY. If this was a person who did this on the spur of the moment, acting largely on impulse, then LE might have found him... I'm thinking that he is fairly young, tech savvy. So if he did any planning, he would have turned off his phone. Or, if he visits someone(s) who lives there in Princeton, he would have left his phone at wherever he was staying. jmo

It doesn't explain how he got her so far in the woods with no one hearing screaming though.

I know you have suggested gen could have jumped out and clicked her...but that gully is deep...it would be difficult to spring out out, attack someone, and drag or carry them 130 ft over then over a log....

I don't see that being a plan. I think it would have been way to risky. Too far too drag her and too much of a chance of a car coming by during the course of this.

If he doesn't clock her then there is a struggle right there...also increasing visibility.

It just doesn't seem like the best plan...so maybe he got super lucky.

But the way my brain is pieces all of these things together I see the explanation of no screams and no one seeing a struggle...is that she was dead when gen brought her there or she walked to that spot willingly.

Again this is just my opinion on what I feel
Like the facts tell us.

He very well could have had a gun. Of course we have no clue, we may never. I can honestly say that if a gun was closely pointed at me, I would pretty much do what I was told. All JMO

The source implied she was not on the video tape, but didn't directly say LE confirmed that, nor did he say store employees reviewed the tape. I think they handed the tape over immediately, precluding any review of the tape by store personnel. But as I believe ThinkHard mentioned earlier, It seems to be the consensus and not his individual opinion that she was not there- meaning that nobody at the store remembered her being there.

So we DO NOT know if she was actually at said store?? I am so confused right now that my brain is getting mushy..

What I mean by that is one way of getting her deeper in the woods and IMO could have been done quickly. Just a thought..
