MA - Worcester Man Kidnapped 7-Year-Old Girl, Threw Her off Bridge, 2017

I think that there is a reason that the child has not been named. Adult men do not abduct little girls just to kill them. More horrors will come to light.

While I agree, we don't often get the names if they are never "missing."
There is just no reason to name them at that point.
I'm still hoping... not a lot of time and she was still wearing clothes when she was found.
I want to believe there wasn't more than we know.

Prosecutors say Hubert drove around with the girl in his car for more than an hour and at one point stopped to choke the child.

Hubert then drove to a bridge between the Worcester/Shrewsbury lines and threw the girl off the bridge and into Lake Quinsigamond around 4:30 a.m., according to police. He is being held without bail until a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Thursday.

The girl was able to swim to a Shrewsbury home near Interstate 290 in Worcester and knock on a door for help.

The woman who helped the young girl briefly commented to NECN about the situation.

Mr. Welsh told reporters after the hearing that his client “adamantly denies these offenses.

“He wasn’t even with the girl,” the defense lawyer said. Mr. Welsh said there was no dispute that Mr. Hubert attended the cookout at the home of the girl’s grandfather, but that he “absolutely did not leave with the girl.”

Ok well... I guess I need to hold off judgment on who the monster is. I'm thinking it's this dude. But he is adamantly denying and I do find it strange that baby wasn't noticed missing when she was sleeping on a living room chair. Luckily, she lived and can tell what happened. Bridge thrower didn't expect that!!!

When I was a child and my parents had parties, I never wanted to go to bed in my bedroom. I would have been just like this little girl, tried to stay awake but eventually fell asleep. The parents probably thought that she was in her bedroom asleep. They were with friends and you don't expect that of your friends.

it’s good to hear the poor child survived. But how will this affect her in the future?

Oh you made me grit my teeth and growl!!! For real!! Hahah. I am so glad for that to be a false alarm. This poor baby has enough to deal with.

Is no one concerned about WHO'S DNA was found in her underwear?
I mean.... that might need some clarification.
It doesn't sound like trial started. The case was continued until Feb 27.
Sounds like it was simply a bail hearing?

Not yet. Its possible the DNA came from whom ever did her laundry or helped her get dressed. I haven't seen anything that makes me think he didn't act alone.

My concern is if it's more substantial than touch DNA. Especially if the defendants DNA is NOT found anywhere on her. He clearly had more contact with her than someone who did her laundry.

In that case the defense can claim someone else did this and the girl is afraid to admit it. If it was someone closer to her or someone who provides for her in anyway. It wouldn't be the first time a kid named the wrong person out of fear.

Perhaps there is more evidence we don't know about. The unknown DNA should definitely be identified however, to avoid reasonable doubt with a jury.

There is absolutely nothing being reported on this case. That bothers me. The DNA also bothers me. Such a strange case.

Trial moved to October for man charged with throwing girl from I-290 bridge

WORCESTER - The trial of a man accused of kidnapping a 7-year-old girl and throwing her from an Interstate 290 bridge into Lake Quinsigamond in 2017 has been postponed until October.

The trial of Joshua Hubert, 37, had been scheduled to begin March 30 in Worcester Superior Court. Assistant District Attorney Courtney L. Sans, who is prosecuting the case, requested a continuance of the trial Thursday, telling Judge James G. Reardon Jr. that the results of forensic testing that is being conducted would not be available by the scheduled March trial date.

At Sans’ request, Judge Reardon rescheduled the trial for Oct. 19.
