I have never been inside the Bell, but I agree the sign would be a good idea, if there's not one. I have never seen any bar post a "Closing Policy", but then again, I didn't look for any back in the day either...

Again, I understand no one means harm. And it's not my job to castigate people when American media invites us to all become detectives. But know these aren't just missing people. They are friends and family. They are members of a community. They are loved and missed. They are not a plot on SVU.

Thank you. Many people find their way to these boards for much the same reason you did. They can be an amazing source of information sharing for people look to help or understand a situation. It bothers me to no end when some people start postulating on the personal lives of others apropos of nothing.

Hoping for a miracle for you all in Harvard.

Not that im a big party person or make the bar rounds, but I've seen "NO re entry after" ....such and such time .. signs. It makes things more clear when they're large print and in your face on or near the exits.

At least with notification you can make a decision to stay inside... knowing that you cant get back in. That is a huge factor to me.

The regulars usually know that at a certain time there is no re-entry. And the others...well, they get stuck outside. Happened to my son a few times. And he reacted like Zach...he left.

My son was not in his neighborhood. He got stuck outside. His friends were inside. His cell is usually dead by midnight. No car. No ride. No coat (he just doesn't). He walked to the railroad. Jumped on a train home.

Zach's story is a tragic and devastating accident. For whatever reason, he made an error in judgement and walked on the train track. Probably not realizing the fatal mistake until it was too late.

Assuming that overserving is not the issue in this case, I don't know what the bar is supposed to do to stop a smoker from going outside in negative temperatures without a coat. We have no solid proof, just speculation, that Zach was told by the bar that he could not re-enter. Is the bar supposed to required him to leave with his jacket, due to the cold weather? Are they required to interact with him when he goes outside for a smoke? At some point, the patron has to know his situation and the weather. For all we know, the bar might have mentioned while he was going out that he could not re-enter. What if Zach didn't hear them? There is too much speculation about the bar's liability, without enough solid evidence.

Your son was there at a time that the train was running. That is so lucky and a great blessing that he is safe. It seems that Zach was too late to jump a train. It is so sad.

I've always thought it should be mandatory that the trains stop running half an hour after the bars close as opposed to hours earlier. They tell people not to drive drunk, then take away a system already in place that could save numerous lives.

I think it is hard for friends and family to see the speculation here, but in some cases it might help to bring their loved one home so I guess you just have to balance it all out. I think it's safe to say everyone here has held Zach and his family in their hearts and prayers and continues to do so.

Good to hear from the family, however IMO repectfully. the cousin has no way of know about foul play or not.


I am sure he knows suicide, or drugs are out their in social media............

How long will they look for Marr before they stop? Have they decided to stop searching? Did they look for Erik Munsell's body for only a week or so, then just stop and wait for him to surface one day?

I wish the people who are following incidents similar to Zach would keep their conversations in the subforum devoted to that purpose (http://www.websleuths.com/forums/fo...hs-of-Male-College-Students-The-River-Killers) and leave the individual threads to focus on the missing person instead of cluttering it with distractions, especially in a case like this where there is no indication whatsoever that it might be related.

Pretty much every article after the intial reports mention the others in the area. That is how many of us who dont live there learned about the patterns and concerns!''

IMO, it is totally relevant - MSM seems to concur!!!

Do not let it be a "distraction", compare contrast and like we have been doing on this thread since it broke, ponder and hope for the best.

Having been puked on by a drunk guy on the train, I can see where this might present a problem for passengers and crew. (Really hard to throw an unruly black-out drunk off a train).

Hi all. I just got an account here and will disable it soon. I was trying to find information about Zach because I don't watch tv and the online reports are kind of nebulous. I was hoping to get the most current news and somehow stumbled here.

While I understand this is a hobby for a lot of you and you mean no harm, please be cognizant of what you post as you continue your journeys as armchair detectives. I came looking for information about this young man because he is from my town...an incredibly close-knit community. Today people are tying yellow ribbons on all the trees and poles in town. Requests for news, sharing of prayers and updates on how the family is doing is a constant discussion on our town's private message board. To read some of the theories being carelessly tossed around is shocking. This is a close family who is well loved in the community. In addition, before coming to Harvard, I lived for years and years in Boston. To hear the theories involving Boston geography and crime by people who haven't even visited the city is preposterous.

Again, I understand no one means harm. And it's not my job to castigate people when American media invites us to all become detectives. But know these aren't just missing people. They are friends and family. They are members of a community. They are loved and missed. They are not a plot on SVU.

That is what makes life interesting - different strokes for different folks!

Think OJ, Casey, JFK,9-11 etc etc - what happens here happens at water coolers worldwide on a daily basis. In editorial pieces across the world. On talk radio. At dining room tables.

That's kind of extreme. If Zach went out to have a smoke not knowing that the doors would be locked at say 1:30 and the bar has no sign stating this and Zach thought he could get back in before closing time (2:00), well, I don't see how that makes it his fault. Sorry, but the bar needs to let customers know that they will not be allowed reentry a half hour before closing. That's how I see it.

If nothing else, maybe in the future we will see a sign letting the customer know what the bars policy is regarding closing.

I concur especially when it is below zero. The place is all windows, they had been there for a bit. Any staff memeber should have cared. It is really a testament to how indifferent we have become as a nation.
