I also find these statements interesting from that article

"Until recently Dr Oldfield worked at Leicester general hospital."

and

"Another of the holidaymakers, Dr Russell O'Brien, also worked at Leicester University before moving this summer. "

So, was Dr. Oldfield and Russel O'Brien between jobs? I would want to investigate that, if I were with LE because people who are currently not working, and who are used to a good income, may do things they would not normally do for money..... I think I had posted this here before, but here was information about a Russel O'Brien flying out of Manchester on April 09, 2007 to a place called Magaluf:

Apparently, this website is for people looking for temporary work abroad. It appears to be for young party types who want a job as a waitress, bartender, etc.

Never worked abroad before? Then consider Tenerife as the destination for your working holiday. Its a beginner's resorts where jobs are easer to find and you'll certainly get more for your money.
In Magaluf and Malia it helps to be gobby and gorgeous or just plain crazy! And when you start work you'll receive a good basic wage and works privileges.
If Ibiza is your chosen destination this summer, be warned, jobs are low paid – so be sure to take plenty of spending money. But by being in Ibiza you'll be rewarded with some of the biggest clubs in the world!

You can read more about it here:

I really dont think that most parents would leave their children alone and if they did knowing that their children were hard to get to bed or had a history of being upset when they were left at home, wouldnt you think that was a wake up call, and not leave your children alone especially since there were babysitting facilities available. I just dont understand the logic or the lack of commonsense by these parents.

Despite everything else, it shows a lack of empathy for a VERY young child. No wonder too she didn't want to go to sleep, there was no one there if she awoke from a nightmare, had to go to the bathroom in a strange room, needed to just relax while she felt safe. I feel so sad for Maddie and her siblings.

Did we ever figure out what was going on in Portugal today? Maybe it was my imagination, but I thought I saw something about the PJ whisking the McCanns off somewhere in a hurry and the announcement of a news conference in the afternoon.

I remember the first time I was left alone when my parents had to go out one night I was 12, and thought it was great, but when it came down to it I could not go to sleep until my parent got home which wasnt late, I heard all the noises you normally hear, stuff like house creaks and cars passing etc, but they frightened me when my parents were not there, my sister was at home, and mum had the neighbours checking on us, but I needed the presence of my parents to put me at ease, and I guess that is how Madelaine would have felt.

Glad to hear she is recovering, Shazza.

From the Daily Mail again. Maybe the blackout of the British press is slowly lifting.

Check this statement out: In a further twist, locals now claim that Madeleine did not always settle well. One evening they allege she ran away into the paths between the apartments, hiding for half an hour when it was time for bed.

no crap~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and yet there was NO DOUBT in Kates mind that Madeleine had not left the apartment on her own???????????????????????????????? Are these people pathological liars or delusional?

The UK's Daily Mail (surprise, surprise) with pictures showing the distance between the apartment and the Tapas bar

Just popped back to see if anyone had constructed a sensible plan of who was where and how and why.... and how the alibis matched up as I already read the Daily Mail.

I was hopeful of something relevant but I see that the site is full of somebody's daughter's car-crash (Why is this relevant? would it not be better placed on personal messages instead of Websleuths?).

The question is: Has anyone seen a time line construction of where people were stated as being on a map at the time of the abduction?

If you think you can construct a sensible plan based on the inconsistent stories being put out by the mccanns, I'd love to hear it.

And maybe if you had more empathy for others, instead of just the McCanns', you'd find this place a happer haven.

I must say, I'm thrilled beyond words to see all of us sticking up for Shazza. The nerve of some people. And YES, THIS IS OFF-TOPIC AND PERSONAL!

Thanks guys and I appreciate all of your kind words, I just felt comfortable being able to say why I hadnt dropped by, and even if I have nothing to add I still call in and send my prayers to Madelaine, I have felt very welcome here and have felt that I have made great friends, so thanks again for your support. I rang my dd today and she is very sore, but that was to be expected, but overall she is good.

All you guys rock and are great sleuthers, I enjoy reading all your posts.:blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss: to each and everyone of you.

The information about Madeleine sneaking outside and hiding really makes me fear for her on several levels. First, it opens up all sorts of possibilities about how her parents handled a mischievous 3-year-old who probably was suffering from being shunted off to the side for the duration of her parents' vacation and was too bored/keyed up to sleep at night. Early on she cries and management complains to the McCanns. So what happened next? Did they drug her to get her to sleep the entire time they were gone? Or did GM lose his temper with her and start smacking her around?

Or, did she wake up that night and sneak off? We just don't know who actually saw her last and when and who just listened at the door, if any of the group left the tables at all. She could've pretended to be asleep and found a way to sneak outside, and God knows what happened to her next. But it does make you wonder why KM would just assume she was kidnapped, especially since this wasn't the first time.

I got support from this group over the death of my dog. The injury of a child seems pretty significant, especially when we are discussing a missing child.

What BethInAK said. I agree totally with her last sentence.

Yes, this is off the topic of this thread, but I must offer support to Shazza and remark that I think the criticism posted here earlier was out of line. If posters do not like what they read here, perhaps they would be happier NOT reading here.

Continued prayers for Maddie.

It really hits home when you have one of your children hurt or in danger of being hurt, thats why I cannot understand the McCanns, yesterday I was so upset and maybe shouldnt have said anything but I did, I couldnt hold it in even though it had nothing to do with this case.

But back to Madelaine, I just hope whatever has happened she isnt suffering or hurting.

Thanks Opie, and when this case is a little slow and no new news available it is nice to find out a little more about the posters who post here, it helps you understand more about them.

No, there isn't much going on that we don't already know, is there! But I guess slow is good. It's been an exhausting week, mentally and emotionally, and who knows what will happen tomorrow. So goodnight, all you sleuthers and talk at you in the morning.

I just wanted to add my sentiments to these posts.

WS is a site where compassionate, like minded people come to sleuth and we all become personally involved with each other. I read here everyday and know that you guys all have Maddie's best interest at heart, myself included.

I also read a lot of the other forums and on Kelsey Smith's forum one of the posters wives had a car accident yesterday also. Everyone chimed in supporting this poster, he even posted pics of the wreck. I did not for one minute he was out of line or off topic.

Shazz, we all love you and we know exactly why you posted about your DD. :blowkiss:

Why have the police gone so cool towards the McCanns?

Exactly 100 days since Madeleine McCann went missing it's emerged Portuguese police have dramatically changed their attitude towards her parents in the last week.

As Gerry and Kate McCann today mark the 100th day since their child vanished, a family friend revealed that detectives have adopted a "very different tone" and been more "formal" towards the couple.
The switch comes after a week of innuendo in Portuguese newspapers, based on anonymous police briefings, that Madeleine was not abducted but was killed in the family apartment. ===========SNIPPET

The Portugese Police must have information that has not been released yet, and I would think the reason being they have to be absolutely positive the information they have is iron clad, why else would their attitude to the McCanns change. Until we hear more from the Portugese Police I will abstain from speculating as to what may have happened, as there are so many theories being thrown around at the moment.
Lets hope we hear something soon.
