To me it seems, he had a stash of money in 2010. Nothing reliable to 2007 IMO.
If his mates are to be believed though, he wanted to “make a million”. You only get that by either winning the lottery, or saving whatever you make from thieving. Very few people are going to keep that under a stash of clothes, or as loose change about the house. If he really did want to get to 1mil, but didn’t want to work for it, then it makes sense he’d save some of his stash and not necessarily blow it all as soon as he got his hands on it. He also comes across as very frugal; claiming he’s homeless, living in a camper parked in peoples’ gardens and asking for showers so as not to waste money on rent and electricity. I think it was Ted mentioned a few pages back that usually the people that cry poverty are the ones with more money than us Joe Soaps in the bank.

ETA - “in the bank” was a poor choice of words. Under a mattress may have been more apt, not subject to tax etc
